Just don't take his reviews as gospel truth. He panned plenty of games I liked too, but I still play them.
Optimism is a duty.I just stopped watching him altogether instead. I still come back here to see what else he's done, but I don't actively watch him anymore.
Watch SymphogearI distinctly remember agreeing with him on some points of his Xenoblade Chronicles X review.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."I watch Zero Punctuation primarily for entertainment. That said, I have frequently found that games Yahtzee likes are also games that I like, as long as I weight for his tastes. He doesn't like RTS or simulation games (like Civilization), but that's fine, since I do.
If someone else not liking a thing spoils your own enjoyment of it, that's your problem, not theirs.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I broke and watched the Watch Dogs: Legion review on the Escapist and it was the hardest I laughed in quite a while, gotta say.
@Codafett: There's this thing called "self-confidence" and getting anxious that a random dude who swears for a living might not like the stuff you do indicates a lack of, you should get around to fixing that.
Aww no, not Pepper.
Also I'm the complete opposite. I was looking forward to, say, him hating Persona 5 and then he went and enjoyed it. The git.
Thats a Testament to how much he actually liked it if his persona (heh) can like it unironically.
Watch SymphogearI love it when my guesses of what he'll like are proven wrong, one way or the other, partly because I've watched ZP for so long now if I played or even read a bit about the game he'll review I can safely guess what his opinion of it will be.
Not gonna lie, still a bit miffed at the DMC 5 review.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.I just don't watch his reviews of anything I actually care about
I find his reviews to be greatly entertaining. I dont really care if he rips into something I like. I'm still going to like it afterward. Worst case scenario: I'll just think he has a bad take. For instance, he claims Doom Eternal isnt as good as Doom (2016). I disagree.

I mostly watch ZP for entertainment, but in the few cases where I've played games that he's reviewed, I've found his comments to generally be accurate.
You also have to read between the lines. Often, a review will consist of finding things about the game to make fun of, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's bad. When a game is really bad, Yahtzee will generally make that clear.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayIf I recall, despite his lack of Nostalgia for FF 7, he gave credit to the remake when it deserved it, even if he felt it had too many tonal shifts (Though for me, the levity was part of what made the tone of the game so great).
Watch SymphogearI think his biggest gripe was with the combat system, mostly that it was perfectly good when you're controlling a single character but fell apart when party members entered the picture because the AI is a moron.
TBH, the updated combat system seems like something that would really get on my nerves: rapid character switching in real time... bah I say, and humbug.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Not particular fond of it myself, but I've played games that pulled it off (Ys SEVEN, for instance).
The thing, I feel, is that Ys SEVEN works through a Elemental Rock-Paper-Scissors but with weapons: you use blunt weapons against armored oponents, and so on.
The different enemy types are mostly kept seperate rather than mixing in a single group, so the player has reason to switch around but the difficulty isn't artificially raised, and the demerit isn't so crippling that you can't kill an armored enemy with Adol instead of Dogi.
It's also worth mentioning that eventually Adol gets access to swords with the three different attack properties. You'll still have to switch party members or at least menu to change Adol's weapon, but it does give you more control over your party selection since Adol is the only one who's always in your party anyway.
I personally prefer it myself, and its done so quickly that it's not even a big issue.
I don't mind the OLD ATB system, but ATB as a whole hasn't aged very well, IMO.
Watch SymphogearThose replies got weirdly hostile Fighteer, Hail Muffins. No need for that.
That didn't happen but sure. I'll just let it go.

Find the Light in the DarkWell you were blaming the reviewer for being critical of a game in their own topic, one would call that unwise
New theme music also a boxYeah, I missed those responses but I do think that Hail Muffin's in particular...comes off as more then a bit rude and personal. Out-of-line.

Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Watch Dogs: Legion (Zero Punctuation)
It's here! Having failed for two games straight, Ubisoft surrendered on the "relatable protagonist" aspect of writing, deciding instead to let the player pick one and make up their own character arcs. It tickled Yahtzee's fancy a bit, although the actual story suffers because the villains have to react to whichever random protagonist you bring along to defeat their dastardly schemes. "Curses, Insert Name Here, you have foiled me again!"
There's also an AI support character with remarkably punchy dialog... suspiciously so, in fact. Whatever made Ubisoft decide to start hiring fast-talking Internet humorists with sexy British accents to do their comedy, they should keep it up.
Oh, and there's a spider droid and a cargo drone, and if you have those two things, the game might as well bend over and ask for it gentle. Also grannies with nail guns and really stupid hats.
If only Ubisoft weren't a company responsible for massive abuse of its employees, I could buy this fucking game with a clear conscience.
Next week: The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope. Whatever that is.
Edit: Oh, that's what it is. "It's like watching blind puppies searching for a nipple on a shagpile carpet." Never stop, Yahtz.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"
I've started to dread Yahtzee's reviews because a lot of the games he hates or critiques heavily end up being my favorites.
