Awwright, that is one smug-ass king there! He's even got a perpetual Dreamworks Eyebrow!
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."What is that weird mountain range in the video? It looks like a terrain glitch.
Optimism is a duty.Assuming you're asking about the green one in the first gameplay clip, it's a natural wonder— Mount Roraima.
"I've come to the conclusion that this is a very stupid idea."[Up] He shares a model with Philip II, who is just as smugly punchable.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Ooh, I'll enjoy playing that one. Trade-focused civs are my bread and butter.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Yeah, this seems to play into my playstyle very well too.
Optimism is a duty.Oh hey, it's Venice but better!
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.Imagine the improvement spam on a map with multiple Portugals.
Optimism is a duty. There's also a new Barbarian Clan mode, which allows peaceful interactions with barbarians and lets them turn into city states eventually.
Optimism is a duty. That was in the last update.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Here's a bit of history trivia: Joao III is Philip II's maternal uncle.
That's why they look so similar.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Is Joao also an ancestor of Pedro? I know Maria, Portugal's rep from V, was.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."Yeah, though this is probably fairly justified given they're fairly closely related. First cousins once removed if I've worked it out correctly.
Not directly. His dynasty ended 3 generations after him due to his grandson dying in battle without an heir, which ultimately lead to the Iberian Union. The next independent king of Portugal apparently did claim descend from the same dynasty, but through João's father instead. Due the fact that most of European monarchies married each other a lot I bet Pedro does descend from João in some way, but the connection is not as direct as with Maria at least.

They wouldn’t confirm the details of what the April patch would bring, but it sounds like it’s going to shake things up. “We’ve been sitting in waiting on a lot of exciting balance changes for a long time,” Strenger tells us. “This is going to be probably the biggest community update event ever.”
Firaxis has done some tweaking to civs during the New Frontier season, but it sounds like the team have been waiting for the end before giving civ balance some dedicated dev time: “We could have done it earlier,” said Strenger, “But like it’s kind of trying to hit a moving target because we still had Portugal, we still had [other New Frontier Pass civs].”
“So now that things are settled with all the new content of the New Frontier Pass, it’s like okay, cool, we’re dusting off all these ideas and tweaks that we’ve been sitting on for a very long time. I think fans are gonna be really excited once they see the full list of patch notes.”
Ooh, that'll be nice to see. A lot of the civs they've introduced in New Frontiers have extremely powerful abilities compared to older ones.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"From their interview with Eurogamer:
Emphasis mine.
[Associate Producer Kevin] Schultz:
I await the day I can build water cities
New theme music also a boxGood stuff. I'm going to get on Portugal as soon as I can.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Heh. They have an explicit economic colonialism-lite ability.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. So I never really dabbled into Roosevelt until recently and... wasn't Rough Rider Roosevelt's abilities originally Bull Moose Roosevelt? Like I swear the park focus was the new one.
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.Bull Moose takes base Teddy's additional appeal to National Parks and adds in Science from Mountains and Natural Wonders and Culture from Woods and Wonders.
Rough Rider takes the Rough Rider unit and combat strength from base and adds in additional Envoys sent to city-states he has a trader sent to.
