Short of violating my NDA, I would just like to state that this game kicks ass so hard. I can't wait until it goes retail. Anyone else here in the beta?

Isn't World Of Tanks like an incredible simplification of the MMO concept? Basically, get it, play as a tank, do tank stuff and little else?

^^ Oh that looks SICK!

Um, am I restricted to German Panzers, or can I get out a T-34 with an 85 and kick ass?

^ Apparently if it exists between 1930 and 1960 it's playable.

It would be totally awesome if you could pit modern tanks too against it. A T-80 vs Abrams duel would be awesome!

For right now it's pretty much get a tank, play 15v15 matches on a random map rotation, and work your way to better tanks and advancing your crew.

It's fun as hell and has lots of replayability and is well-balanced. I have heard there might be persistent map battles where you have to conquer territory eventually, which would be sweet.

It's tons of fun, I play with a group of 3 and we all roll in T44's and rapestomp the opposition.

Current tanks available are German and Russian, American tanks will come soon, I've also heard rumors of the Japanese and Brits, but no idea if that is true or not.

It's pretty much all the WW 2 era tanks, as well as several that were planned but it is dubious as to if they were built or simply propaganda(Mostly the high tier Soviet IS class tanks)

The biggest tank, size wise is the Maus, the heaviest tank ever actually built. Overran by Soviets at the end of the war and never fielded in battle, but you can work your way to one if you go through the German heavy tank line.

Have you used the T-34 & 85mm cannon setup? How well does it do?

It's basically a stepping stone to the T44, which is the king of medium tanks. I didn't really like playing as the 85, I skipped through that tank pretty quick. It has a good gun, but the armor wasn't thick enough for me to want to stay with it, and it wasn't fast as I would have liked.

Not a bad tank for its tier, but not fantastic. T43 and T44 are absolute murder machines though.

That makes me think about how my buddy loved the Panzer IV in WW 2 Online, but how I eat them for breakfast in Wo T. He pretty much swore it was the best tank ever, and I told him how shitty it was when I piloted one to get through to the Tiger.

No, they are actually very realistic. Realism was a pretty big priority.

It's more of an innovative and fun game that relies heavily on teamwork and a rock-paper-scissors approach. There is no Hollywood hamminess to be seen in this game, and all tanks are made to their real life specifications.

^ Including the ability of the M4A3E8 "Easy Eight" Sherman to utterly rape the T-34-85 as seen in Korea? (Then again superior crews probably had more to do with it.)

Being a good player has more to do with how you do than anything. I've raped Tiger II's constantly, and I'm not at all afraid of anything smaller than the Tiger.

Everything is just sort of a stepping stone, find your playstyle that you are skilled with and stick to it. Some people play best as artillery, or light scout tanks, or mediums, or heavies, or tank destroyers.

Tank Destroyers and Heavy Tank players bitch a lot though, they complain that they are always being fragged by artillery before they get a chance to roll all the mediums and heavies <.<

Yeah, morons.

Anyhow, I wouldn't really be afraid of a Sherman, at least not in my T44.

Im in on the Beta too. Light tanks, TD, and an Arty platform.

Do we know how they plan to do "retail" launch? I think they may do the traditional MMO setup. A mini-market and a premium account system.

If I recall they are also associated with Heroes in the Sky and Navy Field in some way.

Do you have a mic Tuef? We'll have to get on vent and platoon up at some point. I have a T44, S51, and KV 3. Working up to an IS.

As far as I know when it comes to retail they plan on having it completely free to play, and you just have the option of buying gold. No items are restricted (Except the crappy gold tanks, lol churchill) but I've learned from experience that you really can't afford to play some of the heavier tanks without premium. Unless you have more really good games than really bad ones, it's terribly hard to make a profit with how expensive ammo gets around 122mm.)

They'll probably have more features, but as it stands right now you'll have a free to play account, and for the amount of gold it would cost to buy a month of premium will be about the same USD as any other monthly subscription fee. To prevent people with too much money and too little time, you'll be capped at 3000 gold per month available to purchase.

Interesting. I have a mike but its a pain in the ass to set up. Im still in the early tiers my third vehicle on all of them and I just started up a lOltracktor to get at German Medium tanks.

I just got my 122mm SPG gun for the Russian SPG line

And now I have to reinstall because it keeps thinking I don't have it patched.

A new patch just came out today, D Ling it right now.

My KV 3 is the lowest tier tank that I use right now, but I'm thinking about getting a Leopard again.

You'll have to at least come on our vent sometime and I can talk while you type in platoon heh.

:p sure when I bother with vent again. Oh those little leopards pesky little bastards.

Man the more powerful ammo is damn pricey for those 122mm rounds. But then again when I can make a heavy tank scramble for cover behind a building and really lay some pain on a medium its worth it.

What I have trouble with is the firing rate. While it's worth it when I can hit something with it, suffering half the firing rate is a serious problem for me.

Yeah that hit to rate of fire I got with the 76mm arty is noticeable but the damage is what I am after I am pretty damn good at hitting fast tanks. I just hate it when no td's or heavies guard the back and they let arty get wiped by one tank.

No longer partying with the loltractor onto to the panzer II :D

You weren't joking about the prohibitive cost of the ammo.

I got med blitzed the cost to fix my rig and replace ammo was 4k.

What do people think of the new American tank line? Due to limited exp. I'm unlikely to start playing them pre-retail release, and in any case the Pershing isn't out yet. I wants mah Pershing.

I wants mah Centurion even more, but it appears that British tanks have been bumped down below French tanks in order of release now.

In other news, my fully-pimped-out Panther w/100% crew, rammer, spall liner and gun stabiliser thingy completely rocks.

With cannon shot and gun blast smash the alien. With laser beam and searing plasma scatter the alien to the stars.
