Well I've preordered both Repugnus and Punch/Counterpunch as well as ordering my first Masterpiece, Year of the Goat Soundwave. With all the clear plastic I keep wanting to call him Year of the Ghost Soundwave

Which Transformer do you think detests organic life the most?

I'd go with Beast Machines Megatron.

I'd say The Fallen from the Bay movies hates organic life the most.

[up]I wouldn't say he hates organics so much as he doesn't gives a rat's ass if he has to kill a whole planet of them to get the energon he needs to replenish the AllSpark. In fact, the only time I remember him expressing an actual view on an organic race is in the Tales of the Fallen tie-in comics, where he actually admits to being impressed by the intellects of the primitive humans he found on prehistoric Earth... only to say it doesn't matter all that much, since he's going to kill their entire world anyway.

He started a war with the rest of his race over the right to wipe out humans. Bare in mind that destroying planets with life was the one rule the Primes followed.

[lol] It's cool and sorry that I brought it up. I've just noticed that you come in with some really out of the box questions. Not that I'm one to talk. I just find it fascinating because if you were trolling then it didn't really seem like it, but at the same time it was happening so frequently I couldn't really discern whether or not it was actually trolling and here I am ranting and running out of breath so I'll finish this sentence here. -gasp-

I'd guess probably Beast Machines Megatron probably hates organic life the most. Though I can't say I've seen too many examples of Decepticons that detest organic life - usually the humans are just a nuisance to be discarded/who get in the way of whatever Megatron is planning.

So was the audience. It was one of the most poorly written Heel–Face Turn, thanks to the movie's rushed script.

"I just realized that when I was being a dick to people... it meant I was being a dick to people. Fuck it, I'm out".

I like the idea, but the execution was awful. So abrupt, out of nowhere, and motivated by a Captain Obvious Heel Realization.

Hmm. That's a shame. I was piqued at the idea of Megatron having a Heel–Face Turn. I don't think that's ever happened bef... well I guess it happened in G1 and Armada, but that was more of an Enemy Mine than Megatron realizing he's kind of a dick.

I actually want to watch that show just to see where they take that idea, and what happened to Optimus exactly.

So a clip of that new Cyberverse show is available online.

Windblade has pretty much usurped Arcee as The Female Autobot of choice huh?

There's the clip.

From an unbiased perspective, I can't get over how bland it is.

Huh the animations actually pretty decent.

Sure the art-style's pretty bland but hey at least it moves well.

Also I find myself missing Hotshot & Animated Bee cause at least he could talk. Cause man they are overdoing the radio voices in that clip.

Yeah, I still don't get why the Japanese cut frames in cel shaded animated shows. Both Prime and Robots in Disguise are by the same animation studio and the earlier won an Emmy for its animation, it's baffling.

As for Bumblebee's voice (or lack of), I don't mind the quirk but recent writers forget that its appeal is charm and it comes off as obnoxious.

Well she IS the result of a fan poll, and has proven well recieved, so yeah. I don't see it as surprising.

Especially when G1 Arcee's entire baggage is being "The Girl". At least Windblade has a more defined series of trait that unify her various incarnations. (Like, what does G1 Arcee have in common with Prime!Arcee?)

Also I find myself missing Hotshot & Animated Bee cause at least he could talk.

Whoa man. Remember. Animated Bee's main flaw was that he talked.

Don't think I'm yet at "Wishing Animated Bee" on anyone!

I do find it funny that Cyberverse!Bee is basically Wreck-Gar

The only thing I liked about Animated Bee was his design.

It'd be interesting to see Bumblebee's current character beats (competent warrior) transplanted into his original smaller body size.

One thing I am wary of is them being in a desert? One of the big flaw of Prime was the often really bad or generic back drops, especially in the first season where 90% of it takes place in a canyon, or next to a cliff, or some otherwise brown place with a rockface. (And once a ice cliff. Coz texture swap!)

I'm sort of wary of the show falling for "Low effort boring locations" as a cost cutting measure.

At least Prime had atmosphere.

I feel like I've seen that exact desert set-piece a million times before.

[up][up]At least they didn't look flat (the two-dimensional kind).

Did I give weak counterarguments against any of you guys' rants on some other board before? I don't want it to happen again.

Soundwave's VA is Marc Swint from the webshow Anime Abandon and he was also Necalli in SFV and Kiawe in the current Pokemon anime. Legit I'm interested in his take on Soundwave and I'm glad he's got so many bigger roles as of late.

Also I'm collecting the POTP Terrorcons. here's my opinions:

Rippersnapper: He's what I expected. I liked his presentation, he had a really popping color balance and in hand he's a solid figure. Recreates the look as well as he needs to and the standard Combiner Wars engineering works really well for him.

Blot: Very surprised at him. His legs just fold onto his back rather than collapsing like nearly all the other CW engineered figures. It's actually really neat. He also has a great design even if I find flipping up his Beast Mode head and torso weak because they just sit there on his robot mode head and torso. Blot's also a good figure, definitely recommend him.

Hun-Gurrr: Iffy. The Beast mode looks weird, but I get it, it's an out there design, can't fault it too much. I like how his front legs fold up, and I love the poseability of his heads (and how they give him ankle tilts in robot mode). Wish Doublecross/Twinferno had neck articulation. Color balance and robot mode are good, though he's hard to balance with those tiny beast mode heads. Abominabus lacks the biting knees, but I'm not too sad, I figured it'd be hard to engineer them anyway. The stickers suck. Legit they look terrible, they're missaplied and peeling out of box and they just make the toy look cheap. I peeled them off on the drive home. Gonna buy the Toyhax ones.

Cutthroat: Not happy with him. He's fine, mostly. His beast mode is like Doublecross's, all that folding up makes him too wide. Like Doublecross it's a limitation I can overlook. The beast mode head sucks though. It's on tiny tiny pegs and you need to fold it down and it will almost always detach. That's the major sticking point, didn't like that. The figure does its job for the most part but that's a huge failing. Mine also had too much plastic sliced from a thigh mushroom peg which made it too loose so I returned it. Not going to hold a factory error against it, but man was it dissapointing.

New Siege stuff. Bonus official images.

New Titan hint

So thoughts:

  • I'm not saying this is bad, but I'm not fond of the really detailed look that the toys give to the plastic. I know they're prototypes, but that seems to be the aesthetic they're going for. These reveals and the last reveals all did this. I think it makes them look busy.
  • Tetra-jets. Nice. Did not expect them to go that route, but welcome.
  • Flywheels. Excellent. I'm not even mad they got rid of the mini robots and just had him as a combiner and vehicle mode.
  • Reflector: Glad to have him.
  • Shockwave: Will need to see more. Same with Soundwave.
  • Megatron looks alright.
  • Aw yeah, we got Brunt!

The tetrajets are cool, but lose like a billion point by having so much kibble under the jet. Like, It's a pyramid. Just make a shellformer, fold the flaps in the wings. Done. It's been done several times before.

Is Brunt's design a reference to the IDW version of the Centurion Drones?

Here's the pic for those curious. Damn. This has to be intentional. Similar claws, treads in similar places, similar head design. I'm actually really glad, I loved that redesign, always wanted to see a toy of it.
