Wasn't Kenpachi's English VA recasted for the new season?

Kenpachi was voiced by Patrick Seitz in the later half of the Bleach dub, so not a recast technically.

Nope Patrick Seitz was his VA in the later seasons as well. It’s noticeable to me since David Lodge still voices Jiraiya in Boruto.

Ah so it happened earlier.

I remember him being voiced by Jiraiya's voice actor.

Wait when was he recasted? I remember him voicing him during the Nnoitora fight.

Hitsugaya always had a deep voice since he was voiced by Romi Park in Japanese.

And it still does not fit with how I imagined his voice.

Kenpachi was voiced by Patrick Seitz in the later half of the Bleach dub, so not a recast technically.

Oh shit, that's awesome lmao. I love Patrick Seitz's work.

I think David Lodge himself went on Twitter asking to voice Kenpachi again for the TYBW anime.

and then He went Union 'IE the reason you never hear Laura Bailey or Travis willingham anymore outside of Video games'

Naruto doesn't follow the same Dubbing company so it was easier to get him back for jiraiya in Boruto

He's since been in projects like Persona 5, River City Girls, and Fire Emblem Three Houses, so dubbing companies can seemingly still afford him (at least more than they can Bailey, Willingham, or Troy Baker), plus him expressing interest in reprising Kenpachi indicates that he's not completely union-only.

I was also disappointed that he didn't come back for TYBW, since Kenpachi was such a career defining role for him, and Seitz already has a major role in Isshin (who makes stronger use of his talent, imo).

Bailey has done some non-Union dub voice work for older characters she’s voiced. But it’s not much and not something she’ll do consistently of course.

Keiko had a couple of lines in the Yu Yu Hakusho OVA dub and thus Laura in it for example, but yeah sometimes the dub chimps out. It’s why Mobs VA from Mob Psycho 100 was changed in the last season since Kyle went union.

Volume 61!

So, Ichigo is shocked to learn that Old Man Zangetsu isn't Zangetsu at all, but the representation of his Quincy power, looking like a younger Yhwach. The old man explains that he had initially tried suppressing Ichigo's true power to prevent him from the path of the Soul Reaper (it had been a Hollow who helped Ichigo a lot during this stuff, remember), but as Ichigo developed, he began to help him. His time is over. He vanishes, leaving a burning Zanpakuto behind, telling Ichigo he can fight with his own power now. Ichigo accepts both the Quincy and Hollow sides of himself as Zangetsu and, by extension, as part of himself, and reveals his new blade...well, blades. Plural. Boy's got TWO swords now.

Meanwhile, Yhwach is holding a Nazi rally with the rest of the Sternritter when he reveals Uryu is on his side now and appoints him his successor. This REALLY pisses one Quincy off, a punkish fella named Bazz-B, who gets into it with Jugram, the second highest ranking of the Wandenreich and Yhwach's right-hand man. Another of the big Sternritter, Bambietta, kind of uh...girl kind of conflates sex and violence, eesh. Creepy. And she's got some gal pals in the other female Sternritter. I've heard some...*things* about Giselle, so I'm kind of worried.

Yhwach gives Uryu his letter, A. When Uryu questions this, Yhwach explains that, with Uryu somehow surviving the Auswahlen, he has some kind of power that exceeds Yhwach's own. So I guess that's what Quilge was referring to. Jugram comments on how this is gonna lead to Uryu with a target on his head by the restless Sternritter, and that Yhwach probably planned this to trap Uryu.

Back in the Soul Society, Rukia is in the training now, doing some sword stuff with Renji as their bodies acclimate to the heavy Reishi environment. So kinda like getting used to the thin air in Denver, I guess. Byakuya is finally healed up, and both of them are dreading him having to go through Shutara's uh...stripping stuff. I...don't know what all went down there but it does not sound good.

Shunsui pays a visit to Keigo, Tatsuki and Mizuiro to tell them to say goodbye to Ichigo. There's a possibility that he might have so much power that he won't be able to return safely to the land of the living. I actually kind of like this bit for showing Keigo and Mizuiro in a different light? Mizuiro is kind of casually like "Oh you're one of the captains, right?" and clearly retains a lot of knowledge of Soul Society stuff, while Keigo actually gets pretty mad and confronts Shunsui about Ichigo's potential fate. Keigo really matured from being a loud ass moron, jeez. I guess the Aizen shit really stuck with him. But yeah, Shunsui gives them voucher thingies to let them visit the Soul Society and encourages them to spend time with Ichigo before the war continues.

And then Invasion #2 begins. Yhwach declares he's gonna take the world in nine days and the Seireitei begins to vanish. Turns out the secret to the Quincies' survival was the shadows themselves. Jugram confronts Shusui, Askin confronts Mayuri (who's made himself a goddamn disco suit or some shit to keep the shadows out), BG 9 confronts Omaeda and Soi Fon, and Bazz-B confronts Toshiro and Rangiku. Toshiro and Rangiku combine their Shikai abilities to nullify Bazz-B's flames, but Bazz-B keeps on going and blasts Toshiro with one finger right to the chest. BG 9 tries to goad Omaeda by attacking his little sister, before Soi Fon shows up to fight...turns out she's been doing a LOT of Shunko practice after her fight with Yoruichi back in the Soul Society arc. Fuck, that's a hell of a callback. BG 9 begins to copy her Shunko as they fight, though. He's a robot. And Askin kinda just fucks off like "Yeah, not bothering with you, I prefer my battles fast and easily finished".

Oh and there's a part where Shinji gives Hiyori a phone call begging her to help him out with something, and so Hiyori reluctantly agrees, dragging the other Vizards with her. Something about a "distortion between the world of the living and the Soul Society". Plus some stuff in Hueco Mundo where Chad and Orihime are training while their mysterious savior is off-screen. So, full disclaimer...I already know the person they met who killed Quilge is Grimmjow. The subtitles from the anime spoiled it lmao. But hey, makes sense, if they're rounding up all these people for the final arc, of course they'd bring him back.

Anyways, some pretty good stuff. Feels like we're going a little too fast again, though. The stuff with Ichigo and Zangetsu was great, I loved seeing his classmates again (honestly I just wish this arc had some of Ichigo doing more normal stuff like the Fullbring Arc did), I loved seeing the captains trying to work around losing Bankai (well, mostly Soi Fon, I still shrug at Toshiro), and I loved seeing Hiyori pop up again (I'd been feeling a little weird seeing Shinji so ultra-serious Soul Reaper Captain after how he was in the Arrancar Saga, but then this scene played out and yeah, fuckin' love it lmao). But Uryu's turn to the Wandenreich still feels very fast and undercooked (I've liked how the anime has added more to it, so hopefully when they cover those chapters, it'll feel smoother?), and I'm kind of annoyed at how Orihime and Chad are shoved away from the thick of the action right now. Also not really as interested in most of the Sternritter so far. A few of them stand out but so far, they're not making the same impression as past Bleach antagonists have.

Bambi is both a sexual predator and a serial killer basically.

So the kind of girl who'd get a large chunk of the internet to say "I can fix her".

...see, I'd understand it with most characters, but considering the Wandenreich are basically magic wizard Nazis, uh...yeah. Not doing it for me.

They’re also Jewish analogues which is…a choice.

But they’ll explain more what Yhwachs deal is very, very soon. Then it gets weirder from there.

I was gonna say, Yhwach is very clearly a play on Yahweh, so there's Hebrew in there, I guess?

But then watching the anime, I was completely thrown off that his name is pronounced "Yoo-hah-bah-hah", which is, like...that does not make sense in my dumb brain.

I always thought his name was pronounced "Yuha Bach", with the "ch" being said the German way kinda like a soft hiss. Thats also what his name sounds like on the Japanese dub.

Then there are of course also people who go intentionally stupid with it and call him "Your Watch".
