Narita is focusing too much on power levels and bit characters, so it comes across as fan fiction. If he wrote more scenes between existing characters, like Death Save The Strawberry did, this wouldn't be an issue.

Huh, looks like he's going for Mayuri sacrificing himself here. Not what anyone originally expected but I figured it would be something like this after last chapter. Let's see how it goes.

That just makes it better, she can cry over his body...and then get smashed.

In all serious though, I never said I expected him to die, just sacrificing himself. I could see him being defeated and captured.

Well, to be honest, I don't see Pernida surviving this fight. I can still hope Mayuri has to perform a mutual kill to take it out or something though.

Besides, if I can't hope for Mayuri's death what else can I hope for? He won't get another after this!

The perspective of her face is completely wrong - the angle of the eyes and face don't match.

I can see people are troping Shaz on the Vandenreich page as though Narita's story is canon, and there's definitely one troper who wants Narita's Shaz troped as canon.

We haven't troped anything from Narita's Spirits Are Always With You novels, not even for Kenpachi. So, I've stripped Shaz back to his original entry, and posted on the Discussion Page that we need a consensus on whether we're going to treat the short story like it's canon.

So, do we trope this short story as part of canon? If so, do we need to do that with the novels, too?

At the very least I think Shaz being a Gremmy creation is probably canon.

I'm not going to disagree with that as a consensus, especially since Shaz isn't included on the chapter artwork of all the Sternritters. It's interpretation on our part, but it's probably a reasonable one.

I'm wondering if we should have a separate page for tropes associated with expanded universe that's written by people who aren't Kubo. We're probably never going to know how much is genuinely canon, and we have separate pages for Anime filler characters as it is.

Perhaps Bleach should be listed as a franchise at this point, if it's not already.

It CANT be a coincidence the novel came out and reveals Shaz as a creation of Gremmy, and later Kubo does a colorspread of all of the REAL SR minus Guenael. And Shaz.

Prett obvious what happened here.

Even if its non-canon why treat it any different from other noncanon stuff like filler? it should all be documented.

So I'm expecting Pernida's Compulsing of either Mayuri or Nemu to confuse it's loyalties between the Quincies and the surviving Kurotsuchi.

Narita has been wrong before about Kubo's characters, so it's clear he does not know the full ins and outs of canon characters. That makes it difficult to automatically assume what he says about canon characters is accurate. With the Anime, it's very easy for us to be able to tell what is canon and what is filler.

and Kubo still needs to do a Color page where he spells out Bleach in SR... lord knows he keeps shoving Pepe into the background he needs an excuse to make a new L :P

There would be a chance that Kubo would introduce SR we haven't seen yet, either due to rushing to deal with letters or in the case of Pepe hit the abort button

You're not gonna have a enemy group that uses a Letter Motif and Not Spell out your Manga's name just once.

^We've seen all the SR what are you talking about lol. And you musta missed a chapter, Giselle and Liltotto already tried to kill Yhwach and failed horribly and are dead now.

Only because it's non-canon don't means we don't have to put it. I thought that one of our principles was that nothing was so irrelevant to never mention it; we should simply add a note explaining where the trope came from if it's not in the original manga.

Kiiinda needs Zombie Bach and Hash for that.
