I just see Outlaw Star compared to Firefly a lot. I haven't seen OS (it's on my list, but it's not really high priority). Cowboy Bebop does seem to have things in common with Firefly though.

I guess it is.

That's because Outlaw Star inspired Firefly, but you probably already knew that.

I don't think that's ever been confirmed. Joss Whedon just said he had anime influences. I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out he was talking about Cowboy Bebop. But again, I haven't seen Outlaw Star. All I know is that one character is introduced almost exactly the same way as River.

I guess it is.

...okay, I saw Bebop subbed, and now I'm thinking I need to watch it again.

The dub is really good. What little I've seen of the sub seems fine too though.

I guess it is.

The original voices are great, but I keep hearing that the dub is pretty fscking amazing too.

It's probably the best dub I've seen.

I guess it is.

The original voices are great
No they aren't.

Well, not compared to the dub voice. It's like the reverse situation of usual dubbing, instead of a voice fitting for the character getting lost, the dub voice fit the personality of the character more than the original ever did.

Really? I felt that they were pretty much equal. Though, I preferred Faye's world-weary Japanese voice.

I'm getting into this show on Youtube, I honestly prefer it to Firefly already, but I have major, major Hype Backlash with that show >_>

I like the dub way more because Spike's voice just sounds... "jazzy". I can't put it in more eloquent terms but he sounds the way the music sounds and the show feels.

And put me as another guy that watched the first episodes and then came back for the rest. It's funny really, I watched the first episodes, then I watched until episode 15 maybe, some other months passed and then watched the rest on a marathon.

Watch it dubbed. It's quite good. In fact, the dub is a large part of what makes it good. The Spanish dub, for example, makes it suck. It's a delicate series, with a subtle atmosphere that need competence to nail down.

I still find the Mood Whiplash and the mood incosistency to be pretty irritating. My favourite episode was Jet Black's backstory, closely followed by Mai Valentine's. Hated everything Ed related with a passion, perhaps because I used to resemble her a lot but never had enough genius to actually qualify as Bunny-Ears Lawyer, so I couldn't get away with what she could...

Mai Valentine's.

Wrong one! Then again, I'm sure some other fans made the same mixup.:p

Ed kinda annoyed me, but mostly 'cos she felt tacked on and if they cut her out of the story, not much would have been affected anyway. But I'm about to get to her backstory episode, so I dunno if that'll change things for me.

Bebop has excellent music and an amazing dub, but I was disappointed with the end; Spike was the only character that I felt didn't get shafted in story resolution.

I think the original voices are great and I have no need for listening to the dub, because English isn't my first language. Besides, I'm already imprinted with the Japanese voices. I can't imagine Ed voiced by anyone but Aoi Tada or Faye by anyone but Megumi Hayashibara. The dub names say nothing to me.

If English isn't your first language, than frankly no one expects you to watch the English dub, as that kind of defeats the purpose of dubbing, doesn't it?

And if the names of the people who dubbed it mean nothing to you, then you should at least know that the guy who played Spike is awesome. Cuz he is.

Watch it english dubbed with subtitles in whatever language you prefer. This is a clear case of Superlative Dubbing. I'm not a native English speaker either, but that's the deal.

When does that Keanu reeves moei come out?

^Oh for goodness sakes. I'm sorry, but I think that's pretty stupid. And it's not like the Japanese audio is bad or anything. Personally I think that anime should either be watched in its original language (Japanese) or whatever your native language is, depending on whether or not the dub in your native language is any good. And that doesn't matter anyway, since the language someone prefers to see something in shouldn't freaking matter to you. It's none of your business and if they like what they like, what's it to you?

Also there's no date on the movie yet. It's still in pretty early stages of development, actually.

Oh, and out of curiosity, harkko, what is your first language?

I'm just making a suggestion. Maybe it doesn't carry over well written. But that's the way I see it: I just think the Steve Blum makes all the difference. The Jap dub is perfect, but the English dub is mesmerizing. A phenomenon he repeated with The Big O, BTW.

Maybe I have a case of same-sex Audio Erotica...

^^^Last I heard they were writing a new script/wrote a new script because the old one would have exceeded the budget. I'm not holding my breath for it, but Keanu seems to like the part.

I watched that scene from episode 5 in sub, and I'll be honest, the dub was much better. Of course, I haven't heard other sub scenes, so it could just be it being played out of context. The commentary with the original actors was fun though, I listened to that.

Woah, ninja'd.
