This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Okie dokie. Suspension lifted.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Okay then, I see it now. I know what to do in the future, so, could you maybe remove the suspension? I don't edit much anyway, but it's nice to be able to add something when I find something.
Good enough. Your editing privileges are restored.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Hello, I've been banned from the YMMV page of Adventure Time because of some heavy editing I have done there, but I wasn't trying to withhold info. I was mostly fixing info and removing info that made no sense, especially pertaining to Lemongrab, because there's was way too much info dump that got way too wordy, and some of it was probably not even canon or just over-analyzing stuff that wasn't even noted in the source material... ever. I also was re-editing certain phrases that seemed both incorrect and inappropriate to use describing scenes from a show primarily aimed at children, which I felt many of the tropers editing that page were missing the point for. I understand that this would cause trouble with the mods and next time I'll be clear as to way I'm editing some stuff away.
You're Edit Warring against other tropers. We have noted a lot of arguing back and forth on that article about Lemongrab and Princess Bubblegum, and while I don't watch Adventure Time (beyond the occasional glance over my son's shoulder) enough to have an opinion myself, I have to say that the amount of drama over these characters is getting a bit excessive.
Why don't all of the article's editors settle down and discuss the matter before stomping all over each other's work?

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Hello, I have been suspended from editing, but I'm not sure why. If you get my edit rights back, can I have a specific example of what I did wrong so that I won't do it again?
ROADO RORRA DA! MUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDA WRYYYYYYYYou're one of the folks who is improperly using spoiler tags on character pages, specifically Characters.Kill La Kill. Please read Handling Spoilers to understand what we want. Summarized: Do not spoiler tag trope names or entire examples, ever.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Okay, I'll try not to start edit warring again, and as soon as I get the suspension lifted, I would like to place some kind of discussion on this on the discussion page of Adventure Time.
Okay, I'll be sure to review the tropes and characters thoroughly before spoilering it, and I'll do my best to not be as paranoid about spoilers.
ROADO RORRA DA! MUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDA WRYYYYYYYOkay, both of you are unsuspended.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I've been suspended, obviously, could I be told why?
Hi Prio,
Your suspension is for deleting a lot of stuff, e.g. from WMG.Sherlock and NightmareFuel.Sherlock. Many of these deletions are incorrect, and you don't use edit reasons. You were PM'd about this in January.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Deleting things from YMMV, WMG, and Nightmare Fuel articles without explanation.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Hello, I know why I was suspended- I got into a bit of an Edit War on a YMMV page, and for that I apologize. I resolve not to do that again.
Okay, i've made many edits like that when i'm in a bad mood, which i often am, and i never think it through properly. I never really expect it to problematic enough that anyone would notice or care, but if it is problematic i can definitely make sure i stop and think before I make an edit.
Sooo, I've been suspended. And I know exactly why.
Turns out, in pointing out someone is an asshole, I become an asshole myself. Fair enough, your playground, your rules, I suppose, and I broke them willingly. I understand the reason for the thumping of the post that led to my explanation as to why it's oh so very difficult to remain perfectly civil in the face of someone that acts like a troll. I have accumulated my fair share of thumpings, almost all of which I admit were perfectly fair and deserved. I'm not gonna pretend I'm some sort of saint or anything of the sort, because while I am an ass, I am not a liar (most of the time, anyway).
What I would like to know is why I got thumped, once again, for explaining my behavior to the mod that showed up in the conversation. My post at no point insulted anyone. I merely said that it's incredibly difficult to remain civil in the face of someone who seems to make it their mission in life to annoy everyone around them.
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariYou got thumped because I didn't ask for an explanation. I told you to stop bickering. And in explaining, you oh-so-conveniently repeated all the same things that were part of the slapfight the first time. Right after you had been told to let it drop.
And you just did it again here, as well. That's not encouraging.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I do know that I said the things that were part of the slapfight. I was explaining myself. Should I pretend I didn't say them, instead?
So if I'm reading this right, I got thumped because you didn't like the fact that I attempted to explain my actions?
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariYou got thumped because I told you to stop the fight. In the course of offering an explanation (which was both unasked for and unneeded) you repeated your side of the fight.
When you are told to stop doing something, doing it again is a very bad idea. How hard is that to understand?

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Actually, now I get it.
If I'm not mistaken, the problem is that I didn't think that explaining myself to an authority figure is continuing the fight, while you think it is. As this is your playground and it therefore runs on your rules, and no I'm not trying to be sarcastic here, really, even though it might seem so, it is clear I am in the wrong.
Did I get it right this time?
And I'll offer my apologies for misinterpreting your post when the first sentence was 'You got thumped because I didn't ask for an explanation.', I appear to have read that and ignored the rest of the post.
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimari@darkrage6: This is the second time we've had to pull you in for deleting stuff on YMMV articles. The first time it was because you weren't leaving edit reasons. Fixing that but Edit Warring anyway isn't much of an improvement. At a certain point it stops being worth our time to deal with this.
@prio: Deleting things without reasons is always problematic. The first rule of a wiki (besides The Wiki Rule) is that it's a cooperative effort. Part of being cooperative is not erasing other people's work without the courtesy of an explanation.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I honestly never meant for it to get this far, and I did just talk things over things over with the person who sent me a PM regarding the subject.
I'll stay off for a few weeks or months if that's what you want.
I don't want to kick you out; I want you to edit constructively. The resolution to this problem is in your hands. Can you or can't you?
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I can and will edit constructively, from now on if I want to edit something in a YMMV thread, i'll mention it on the discussion board and make sure it's OK before doing so.
Sounds reasonable enough. I won't make the same mistake twice once I'm told about it. Thanks for the warning.
