Figures that people like them would ignore you. They don't want to hear anyone's views or opinions that don't align to their own. Reminds me of the Garlean apologists I saw a few times.

Okay. I was out walking my dog and haven't done anything yet. What's this about comparing people to Garlean Apologists?

But at the very LEAST we need to cut down on the Natter.

Seems to be trope edits concerning Hermes hatred on the level of "You do know he isn't real, right?"

Seems really weird, especially now that we know everything about Athena and frankly Hermes is a fucking saint compared to her

Re: Crystal Tower raids

I still think AR roulette should implement a minimum IL relative to your level so people can't game the system.

No, ilevel sync the Crystal Tower

Make every raid take 40+ minutes

That'll cure people of their addiction

Honestly I prefer the Pandaemonium raid for not trying to justify the extermination of the Ancients(something the story objects to everywhere else…except them) by focusing on what Emet said about them…they’re just people trying to do the right thing. Bad people existing amongst them included.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.

make it 120

Gonna be honest, with ilevel sync I don't expect most randoms will be able to beat King Behemoth.

Also making everyone else suffer for no reason.

Stopping the IL cheese would make more sense.

Not sure if I mentioned this already, but despite me being a fan of FF 4, I'm kinda tired of how the majority of the post EW stuff is a huge love letter to the game. It feels like we're just playing a retold version of the game in HD for the sake of fan service (which the game itself is, but Up To Eleven). I almost forgot what Endwalker's dungeon final boss theme used to sound like until I heard it online cause I heard the FF 4 boss theme too damn much for my liking.

I'm not unsympathetic to the complaint generally (even if I don't necessarily share it) but FFIV has one of my favorite boss themes ever so I can't imagine being unhappy with that.

Also Endwalker's own boss theme is kinda mid to be perfectly honest. The mini-boss theme is way better.

Yeah, I'd agree with that, honestly. XIV proper hasn't given me a reason to feel bad about Durante and Golbez and I don't feel like his logic is compelling or sympathetic; the instant snap from beating up on Golbez to him being able to go "ho ho but actually I was planning this all along, you lose" in 6.4 is eyeroll-worthy, and I don't look forward to the "all I wanted... was to slaughter millions... I will not explain why that has to be part of my plan to allow mass euthanasia for all my followers, but trust me, we're going to kill so many people" sympathy push in 6.5.

It's been fun.

[up]

I mean, it's been established that existing in the void is generally considered a Fate Worse than Death. You're constantly driven by Horror Hunger, it's a constant dog-eat-dog world shrouded in eternal darkness, no one can trust each other, voidsent are too busy ripping each other apart to try to come up with a solution to their current predicament e.t.c. It's the reason why stopping the Flood of Light in Shadowbringers is so important, since voidsent are literally the sin eaters in reverse.

Golbez's ultimate goal is to Mercy Kill the denizens of the Thirteenth and allow the Thirteenth's Lifestream to remerge into the Source, thereby enabling the voidsent to live new lives free of their Horror Hunger and the pain of their 10,000 year-long existence. The fact that this is a Rejoining-level Calamity that will kill countless people on the Source is why we're opposing him. To me, it makes sense given what we've seen of the void.

And yet, if they were to stop and talk to us, we would totally left them March single file through a void gate into a designated killing field. No muss, no fuss, rejoin the lifestream and be free. But no, they want to do things the world-ending way... It's just so unnecessary.

RedSavant Since: Jan, 2001
#24443: Jun 1st 2023 at 7:44:45 PM

Sure, I get that. I just don't particularly understand why that has to involve creating a giant voidsent to slaughter people on the Source, when it really sounds like Golbez's first words to us on the moon should have been "oh wow, finally, a portal that can allow my people to cross over to your world and be put to a final rest, please let me work with you" instead of B-tier evil laughter.

[up] Given what Rubicante said, I get that Golbez seems to be the only one who's into the "mass suicide" part of the plan, and most of the rest of his army just wants to take over the Source. But "wants to slaughter millions as part of a plan that no one else is on board with" isn't any more sympathetic.

My big issue with the post-MSQ storyline is that nothing has been particularly compelling until this patch. We only just now got hints of intrigue regarding Golbez impersonating his friend and maybe possibly vaguely being a Zenos reflection. And that's kind of it. Otherwise it's FFIV fanservice.

Compare this to the Panda raids, which feel way more like a proper follow-up to what happened in 6.0 between taking place mostly in Elpis, delving into Lahabrea, and bringing back the Heart of Sabik as a plot point that still isn't resolved despite the raid story ending.

Current MSQ just feels like a bootleg expansion, too.

The WOL does keep on running into world ending events constantly. Like wanting to work with Sky Pirates leads to foiling a voidsent invasion plot, being asked to look at a crystal that some researchers found leads to the Pandaemonium raids, ETC.

I'm suspecting we'll be calling in Ryne and Gaia to help with Zeromus. Because it's very likely we're going to have to force Zeromus to a location where it can be stabilized to where we could properly fight and kill it, and there's only one place that gigantic Voidsent could be fought at...in The Empty of The First.

@Savant

He lays out his logic pretty clearly. The point of Zeromus is to be a crowbar capable of prying open the gap between worlds so the voidsent and the Thirteenth can rush through. The whole, "slaughtering millions" is a side effect of a Rejoining-level disaster, not the main intent.

As for why he indulges in his plans with an Evil Laugh? I dunno? Maybe he's just satisfied that 10,000 years of planning is coming to fruition? It does feel a little out of place, I agree.

I definitely feel like the post-MSQ has a lot more to do with introducing new plot devices like the potential for inter-shard travel and developing Zero than anything. While I'd hardly call her arc especially original, the patch quests have succeeded in endearing me to her as she reclaims her humanity bit by bit.

Again, I get why, but it doesn't feel as though it makes a ton of sense. For one thing, even a creature like Zeromus breaking open a gate shouldn't be on the level of the catastrophe required for a Calamity to occur.

And honestly, yeah, I care a lot more about shard travel and Zero than I do about Golbez.
