Alright, five posts mark has been passed. Spoilers off, everyone!

^ If he did, then he must've fixed them by now, because both FF.Net's version and the one on his site show the correct label.

Judging from what's happened, especially in this latest chapter, I get the feeling that Tsuruya would probably immobilise anyone sleeping too close by hugging them.

What gives you that idea?

Checklisting all unresolved plot points and mysteries (might need some help on this):

  1. The reason(s) behind Kyon's mom hating her brotherKeiichi and his wife Rika.
  2. What's bothering Sasaki so much to insist on trying to meet with Kyon ASAP.
  3. That investigator who is getting interested in the recent "anomalies".

In that case I'll add relevant dates (the end of chapter 32 is on Sun May 22th, 2011):

- Mon May 23: Kyon's family dinner
- Fri May 27: Trope-tan movie premieres, Kyon is going with Tsuruya, Kanae, Nonoko and Miyoko
- Mon May 30: Scheduled meeting with Sasaki
- Thu Jun 19: Kyon's birthday, Watanagashi in Hinamizawa

I loved how Mikuru finally got back from all the things Haruhi made her, even if it's just a little (since they are just teasing her). I like how her character is developing.

I get that idea from the one time she was sleeping in the same room as Kyon (think I remember her being rather spread out in the end) and the fact that whenever she's sitting near Kyon she seems to end up clinging him if it's not a public event. Now, sleeping's not public. Plus you're unlikely to think about what you're doing, so ANYONE near her would end up hugged. Or something. XD

More plot points:

  1. Kanae's true nature and enemies: I have all the feeling about a future We Could Have Avoided All This and Good Is Not Nice from the enemy slider.
  2. Mikuru touching Kyon's weapon at the hospital and the images she saw the days after that.
  3. Mikuru's knowledge about her "older sister" who was seen with Kyon according to Sasaki
  4. The green minivan used in Kyon's murder attempt. How did it end in Watanabe's hands?

That's all I can think for now.

What images? Maybe I have recheck the chapter... which one did they come up in?

Maybe the word was wrong (English isn't my first language). "Images" not in the sense of pictures, but in flashes of something...

Actually, scratch that. it's a deja vu-like feeling Mikuru has had a few times after she touched the cylinder in ch. 21 but not before that. (too sleepy to look for the relevant quote)

Ch.21: Mikuru touches cylinder  **

Ch.23: Mikuru watches Trope-tan with Kanae  **

I'm sure there should be at least other flash/image/deja vu/whatever moment but I haven't found it.

It was mentioned that the natter should be removed from the WMG page, and then we all forgot about that. Odd.

Would anyone care to make a bet on whether the author is going to create the world's longest book? It's already at Doorstopper length, isn't it?

And finally... one of the WMGs is that there will be a Big Damn Wedding. Sounds like an interesting idea but given the only timescale for the current marriage it seems unlikely except as a massive epilogue to the whole series. Can anyone think of a way it would fit into the current series of events?

Haruhi, while knowing espers like Koizumi are aware of her mood, didn't really make the connection with having catatonia-inducing kisses with Kyon until Koizumi explained her. Does that count as Genre Blindness? Because if it is, it looks like a better example than Tsuruya's which looks borderline given the Conversation In The Main Page.

Seems more like Haruhi didn't think the consequences through than Genre Blindness, to me.

A wedding won't happen by itself, and superiors from Mikuru (herself) and Yuki (none) won't pressure, Koizumi is out of the question, Haruhi doesn't look like she has so much of a relation with her father....

The only way I can currently see a wedding before Kyon gets out of high school is with Tsuruya-sama dying and Tsuruya needing to be wed for some reason of some Yakuza custom. However that only'd make Kyon wed with Tsuruya, which I don't believe it's the poster intent.

Also, I don't believe that will happen.

Out of curiosity, how many fights have we had so far in the story? I just wonder because Chapter One is labelled "The Ninth Big Fight". I can think of, off the top of my head, 3 fights with the Yakuza, getting shot, the slider attack.... anything else?

I'm just trying to figure out the timeline of when Asakura will come. Durandall insists it'll be soon, but I think he'll have to resolve the open time loop before Asakura can make her appearance.

Two fights versus yakuza-wannabe Ryuugu, one short scuffle and dangling-by-one-foot-from-window-for-nearly-killing-his-friend versus Yamane, three versus the Sumiyoshi rengou-affiliated Fujiya Yakuza, the short scuffle with the guy spying on the Esper Organization, the slider attack, and... That's about it, I think.

Hmm, so if we consider ignoring the "short scuffles", we've got about 6 to 8 fights. Interesting, it may just end up being the next battle. I don't really think so, though, I think resolving the current time loop is going to be a battle, mainly for getting the slider weapon away from Fujiwara. We are getting close, though, as long as Kyon doesn't trip into any more time loops anytime soon.

Edit: Hah, just noticed that Durandall has apparently continued Tanigawa's tradition of not being clear about which of Kuyoh's names is her first and which is her last. The first time she's named in the series, it's "Suou Kuyoh", but in the latest chapter, it's "Kuyoh Suou".

Could you be a bit more specific or at least give a summary of which theory you mean? It'd be easier for people who aren't familiar with the WMG page and easier on those that are from double checking it.

Okay, my bad. ^^; I'm referring to the one currently near the bottom of the page:

"Evil!Kanae is the future gestalt amalgamation of every alternate version of Kanae that was/will be "overwritten" by her sliding... And she seeks revenge on the good Kanae for the Mind Rape that each of her "precursors" had suffered.

Interesting idea, for sure, but I don't know how all those Kanaes would become one, mentally or otherwise. It's our Kanae that has the slider power, even if it was mental at first. Unless maybe her slider power rubs off on the bodies she leaves behind?

Do remember that someone had to inform her that she possessed sliding power in the first place, before they began helping her control it. Therefore, one should not be surpised if it's eventually revealed that at least some of the "overwritten" Kanaes also possessed sliding power and were unaware of it at the time.

Also, Haruhi and Mikuru had speculated that Kanae's sliding might have displaced her analogues (What happens to them? No one knows, but it's unlikely to be good.), before further speculating that it might have instead overwritten them.

Why do I have this nagging feeling that her memories are all jumbled up? With all the shock and her starting ths story broken.

Which comes to this:

Not half as monstrous as that thing you're trying to kiss.

Don't filthy yourself by associating with that creature.

"Listen, monkey, I don't need to justify myself to you or any other primates around here. I'm being considerate, here!"

"An ignorant monkey like you isn't be cleared for that. Nevermind what she's done; whatever you think, she's a monster from another world who's just possessed that body."

The enemy slider used "monster" in most of his speeches when talking about Kanae. I've noted that, when talking about "monster" in fiction, is eisther figuratively of literally. But no matter how he despises Kanae, it doesn't look personal enough for him to call Kanae "monster" figuratively. It's more of a "job I hate to do but I know it needs to be done".

I believe Kanae wasn't born human.

^Well, I think that would be a good point, except that he also insults Kyon multiple times, and I doubt that could be personal, either, considering(from Kyon's POV, at least) that they've never met.

Also, I didn't think about there possibly being other Kanaes with the sliding power. It would make sense, though. If there's other worlds where the SOS brigade exists, there must be other Kanaes that are sliders.

Hello there, everyone.

I would be glad to say that this is my first post, but that would be wasting text...

As for the current discussion at hand, I would have to agree on the "We Could Of Avoided All This" and "Good is not Nice" points that Filraen had stated would be relevant points to the enemy's actions and words. He clearly doesn't give a damn about what he has to do to get the job done (stating that he'll invoke the Chunky Salsa Rule on Kyon is a clear cut sign in that direction), and I would not be surprised if the whole cause of this crap is something that the people that the enemy group had unwittingly done, and they blame Kanae for it.

As for the "Evil Kanae", I'm willing to bet that the fusion done to create her was by the same group as the enemy slider is. They could of just assimilated the bodies, one by one, after she 'slid' away from each, and fused them together over time, allowing them (with some alterations to the copy) to follow her...

As it is 3 a.m. where I am, please forgive any gaps in my logic.

Also, I actually can't wait for the appearance of "Achakura" (Chibi Asakura, and yes, Durandall did state at the end of the Chapter that "Achakura" would be the one appearing soon) and how she will have an impact on the story.

Anyone want to make any guesses as to how she'll fit in as character-wise?

I have returned, and my vacation in the void was so boring...

I think he only used "Achakura" as a Fan Nickname, not that he literally intends to use the Achakura version of Asakura.
