Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

I personally like to think its an ancient anti-summoner Machina from the time of Vegnagun.
Mark IV, Ugh, that strategy and the explanation of his attack patterns sound awful. How the heck did I beat him 10+ years ago on the PS 2? It seems he's like harder now for some reason. Oh well, guess I better figure out where I can get more Green magic, since I've played the entire game and got like...maybe 1. Where the heck is the rest?
You have to get promoted in Clan Centurio to unlock more Green Magicks in Muthru Bazaar.
Life is more fun with infinite MP.Speaking of which, where is that Bazaar and also, for the trophies in Phone Coast, I gave them to some of the Baangas, but can't find this store they said would be upgraded as a result.
Muthru Bazaar is in the western part of Rabanastre, a dead end section. As for that other vendor, I'm pretty sure it's all that one group of bangaas.
Does it strike anyone else as a bit... strange that Selphie Tilmitt, a clumsy, bubbly college-aged mercenary, and the most hyperactive member of the group... besides Zell perhaps
...knows a magic spell that, as far as I can tell, sends the victim to the afterlife? Doesn't conjure some element, or summon a mythical beast. No you just straight up "pass on."
And like nobody else knows this spell.
I feel like somebody should have made a funny webcomic about this. There's one somewhere about Quistis "eating" monsters in front of Squall, and Rinoa firing Angelo at her enemies. But Selphie's "literally send you off of this mortal coil" limit break is forgotten about.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Women in the VIII universe are powerful. Notice that only female party members have Limit Breaks tied to magic (unless Seifer's fire spell at the start of his Limit Breaks is supposed to be taken at face value), possibly due to the potential for all women to become sorceresses?
Also they die in a pretty pleasant manner all things considered
Although in the context of Blue Magic and Slots, I think they are Para-Magic if a unique form that can't be done by anyone without specialized training.
The longest commercial to ever air on "terrestrial Japanese" airwaves dropped recently. Here's Youtube's cut, which is almost twice it's television length.
Ehh I preferred the Lightning is an obsessive mop commercials for Opera
Started playing FFX for the first time last night, and I couldn't help but notice that this bit of the "Prelude" track sounds an awful lot like the beginning of the Hidden Palace music from Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
I don't really have anything else to say, I just thought that was funny.

It's very '80s pop. The bass line is very familiar.

Apparently Naoki Yoshida's division has started recruiting for a new project. Given that I've heard Yoshida said he's open to directing an offline installment of the series if there's enough demand, and also that Shadowbringers might be the most well-received final fantasy anything in several years...
God, I hope that's true.
They are hiring for it right now according to news I have seen.
The fact that FFXIV is largely the one thing keeping Square afloat recently really reminds me how much of a miraculous turnaround that game had.
Can't wait to see what he cooks up on the single-player front though.

What do you think was the bigger flop, the original FFXIV or Spirits Within?
The Spirits Within wasn't a bad concept. It actually had a lot going for it. It was just the execution and overall script that held it back.
Well, considering Squeenix is still working on FF games and even remade FF XIV while they more or less completely gave up on making movies for theaters (that movie killed Square Pictures entirely in fact)...
Yeah, Spirits Within was worse.

Disgusted, but not surprisedI'd rather they make a TV series than a film. It's hard to cram a JRPG scale plot into a couple of hours.
Life is more fun with infinite MP.They did make Final Fantasy Unlimited way back. That didn't seem to go that well either considering it was cancelled before reaching its conclusion and barely anyone remembers it exists.
That was the anime, right? I watched a few episodes and found it very forgettable.
It's ultimately left unclear what it truly is.
