Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

It would be a solo fight between her an Stiner really, with heavy romantic undertones considering their plot together.
Something I think was somewhat underutilized was the idea of trances being triggered by strong emotions in addition to be generic limit break/super mode gimmick of the game.
Zidane, Steiner, and Vivi get their moments in the game already but no one else does as far as I'm aware and that's a shame.
You could probably retrofit the bonus fight with Quale for Quina's, maybe add a rematch with Zidane for Amarant's, and I'm sure there are a few fights that would work for Eiko and Garnet already, and if not you could add some kind of summoner gauntlet or something.
A duel (or even just a generic boss fight where you have to bring her) against Beatrix with Freya would probably be the one thing that'd fit her unless they otherwise added some sort of battle with Fratley.
How would you make Amarant fit into the plot?
I wouldnt, he really shouldn't exist in the game.
They could just add him to more scenes involving either Lani or hunting Garnet in general, since they're supposed to be partners but only ever show up in the same scene thrice, and the first time hardly counts.
I'd say add more stuff with Zidane and him but they dedicate half a dungeon to that as is.
> I wouldnt, he really shouldn't exist in the game.
Neither should Vivi and he spends most of the game doubting his existence

This isn't your first run of FFVI, is it?
Either way, the World of Ruin is what makes FFVI special and also why Celes is clearly the main character.
@ FFVIII Talk
I totaly forgot this is the 20th anniversary of Final Fantasy VIII, too. I was more focused on Chroo Cross and replaying it. But now I think on it.... -both released in 1999
-both from Square
-both on the PS 1
-both pretty iconic in spite of being fairly controversial
-both follow-ups to incredibly popular games which probably made the criticisms all the more harsh
-both probably tried too many things and subsequently failed a lot of them.
CC is still a much better game in every area I can think of
@ FFIX Talk
It's a great game and many criticisms of it are ridiculous to me. I don't think Garnet is a great protagonist but she's perfectly consistent.
@ Best FF Protagonist
Cloud or Ashe.
Squall gets straight up impaled through the chest by a huge piece of ice. Presumably he's healed, but it looked like a really grievous injury.
Also, regarding Brahne, I'm assuming she used to be more attractive in her youth. Maybe she went into depression upon her husband's death and let herself go? I dunno.
Also what was up with Brahne's greed? Like its treated like it was a sudden supernatural affliction that maybe Kuja cursed her with but then it never really goes anywhere?
Yeah, I also think that the "Kuja enthralled Brhane" thing was such an Ass Pull.
Growing up, it's like a civil war, don't turn away, it's something you can't ignore...If by enthralled, they mean gave her power beyond her wildest imagination and then just let her run with it (and it was all her own greed), I'm fine with that.
Maybe she'd have never done it without Kuja enabling her, but Brahne's actions are her own.
One Strip! One Strip!Brahne's greed is linked repeatedly from the beginning to the death of her husband. It's no excuse but she was a vulnerable woman who tried to fill the void in her heart with conquest. And Kuja exacerbated the situation. It's believable enough.
Kuja is a powerful magic user, using magic to make her extra greedy is not impossible. On the other hand,he had no need when she was already greedy and the power went to her head
Personally I think Kuja's had been working his magic on her since the day day 1,he may have been responsible for King's death and the death of his daughter
New theme music also a boxHow long was Kuja even there?
I don't think his association with the Alexandros family goes that far back, but I admit it's been a while.
One Strip! One Strip!Hard to know. But we know that Kuja is a massive power player through the game.
Growing up, it's like a civil war, don't turn away, it's something you can't ignore...@Hobgoblin: Either that, or the original princess took after her father when it came to looks.
Final FLC Prologue
Mileena Madnesslol @ square enix expecting me to give a shit about anything ardyn says or does
Heart of StonePour one out for Episode Aranea.
Bleye knows Sabers.I do like the boss fights since Gladio was very underwhelming because there was only one...

Mileena MadnessI give a shit. Because he was one of the entertaining NP Cs/Villains in the game.
Shame about Araneas DLC. The only other DLC worth being relevant in the batch besides Ardyn.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. What about Luna? Without any dlc she is now one of the most boring, uninteresting heroines in the series.
Mileena MadnessQuina and Admarant however shouldn't be in the game like at all, they just end up being a waste of space to fill out the roster and never really go anywhere or have room to potentially go anywhere. They would need to be completely different characters and character types to really open up room for them in the plot.
And yuck Ardyn, the worst villain of the franchise, no thanks. If they were to cancel a DLC it should have been this one and actually complete Aranea's.
Edited by Memers on Feb 16th 2019 at 5:03:25 AM
That would require her DLC to address that, and I'm not sure it would have.
An idea I had with Beatrix is to have her as a superboss, where if you don't beat her within a ten turn limit, she one shots you like one of her other boss fights. If you do win, she joins your party among other rewards.
Would likely have to be after what counts as disc four.
