Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

Someone would get a Masamune in the back I figure.
They would of course, be sent comically flying away instead of dying in a pool of blood.
One Strip! One Strip!Does Zelda have a color alt that makes her look vaguely like Aerith? Because if so, I think we have our target.

PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyI can see there being a new meme called "Sephiroth Kills Everyone Except Cloud".
One major part being a scene where Sephiroth kills Sonic; sort of like that one part in the World of Light trailer where Sonic tries to save Pikachu.
Does anyone else see Sephiroth killing Sonic in the exact same manner as Aerith?
Is there a reason you're so stuck on crossing Final Fantasy VII over with the Sonic franchise? Pretty sure you've asked similar questions in the Sonic topic. Also, why is it always leaning towards Darker and Edgier? Can't Cloud just have some trippy adventure with Sonic without the characters on Sonic's side going through some sort of Break the Cutie or Cerebus Syndrome moment?
In any case, I doubt Seph would kill anybody like he did Aerith, since from a gameplay standpoint he's always slashing his sword rather than stabbing people with it. Then again, the cutscene deaths he causes (and attempted to with Cloud) tend to be via impaling... though I guess that was just easier to show the aftermath of... You know, compared to a body that's been sliced through.
Random question: has anyone played any of the Chocobo Dungeon games? Are they worthwhile at all?
Oh geez I played one ages ago on the PS 1. Fun little dungeon crawling diversion, but nothing that absolutely needed to be played from my memory.
I mainly know them for their cool soundtracks.
Life is more fun with infinite MP.> Does anyone else see Sephiroth killing Sonic in the exact same manner as Aerith?
more tails or Amy Rose
I've heard of the games, they're a neat concept and I've always hoped the lead character could appear in smash bros as final fantasy rep
New theme music also a boxSo I've been thinking about this for a long time:
Why did the heroes think that they absolutely needed to shrink the Temple of the Ancients in order to claim the Black Materia?
Now, we know that Sephy could have probably just sent in a Jenova infected to do it, but did they know that? From an in-universe perspective, was there any reason for them to think he had anyway to turn the temple into the black material without doing it himself?
I've always wondered about that.
One Strip! One Strip!Remember that ff7 didn't have to have the best Japanse to English translation, there is a LOT of unusual lines "These are sick" aside
New theme music also a boxI don't know, was there anything to suggest that the Temple would shrink like that anyway as some sort of anti-theft mechanism the moment the Black Materia was taken from whatever its pedestal was?
Remember, Indy had to swap out the idol with an item of equal weight quick-like to keep the trap switch pressed down.
As I understand it, the temple itself was the Black Materia and to claim it, they had to solve some puzzles to make it shrink. That's the thing. You had to be inside the temple to do that.
That's what I'm wondering about. We know Sephiroth could have controlled someone (Cloud included) to make them do it, but I'm not sure if the heroes knew that, and as such they had no reason to think he had a way to claim it. Whereas their plan does all his work for him, and even without his ability to make Cloud give it to him, that would still mean he just has to beat them to do it.
One Strip! One Strip!I reckon they didn't know beforehand, they figured the black materia would just be, well, a materia orb that was dark in colour, and that they wouldn't have to faff around with the temple like that.
Gotta hand it to the Cetra, they don't hold back with anti-burglar measures.
The party didn't even know that the temple was the Black Materia - and needed to shrunken to "get" it - until they arrived at the end of the temple, where they figured it would just be sitting there. By that point Cait Sith offers to sacrifice himself to accomplish their mission, and Cloud is being subtly manipulated by Sephiroth into getting the Black Materia for him, so there wasn't really any time or reason for the party to think to just decide to turn around and figuring Sephiroth couldn't get it.
I don't think they know Sephiroth could send a copy into the temple to shrink it? I think you can find evidence of what the hooded people are in Nibilheim, but I think the party doesn't really figure out the Sephiroth Copies until the Whirlwind Maze.
Well, I knew they didn't know that until they got there, but I didn't consider that Sephiroth was already messing with Cloud to get him to do it.
So that kinda answers my question. Makes sense.
One Strip! One Strip!Cloud: Let's go get the Black Materia. Sephiroth will undoubtedly send one of his goons to get it eventually!
Oh, the irony.
Is that a direct quote?
One Strip! One Strip!No, it's a joke.
(Almost) direct quote from Cloud: "No, we have to take it! Sephirot has lots of different flunkies. It's nothing for him to throw their lives away to take the Black Materia".
Just checked on a video.
Though I've already asked this in another thread, what would Sephiroth's trailer be like if he got into Super Smash Bros.?
