Solution - A variety of shotgun shells to choose from, each with different effects (this is actually one of the cool things about real shotguns - you can load just about anything into those little shells)

Problem - Grind-based game design in MM Os.

Those who accept their fate find happiness; those who defy it, glory.

Solution: Allow the player to develop reflex and reaction time to eveything the game throws at him to overcome it's obstacles.

Problem: Platforming in first person shooters.

ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.

Solution: Don't do first person platforming.

Problem: A.I.s in RTS are hard to create without cheating.

Make the AI smarter. This one is simple. They always match their troops against yours when encountering your army according to which unit will beat which, will ruthlessly exploit terrain and area of effect attacks, will harvest resources that they need very efficiently and will build not just well balanced armies, but varied and strong army builds which if not opposed correctly will roll over someone who has just relied on one unit type or even just thoughtlessly balanced their army.

Of course, the behaviour gets less intelligent as you go down the difficulty levels.

EDIT: Problem: Collection quests: that horrible situation where there's only one of 50 items left in the entire world, and you don't have a clue where.

The term "Great Man" is disturbingly interchangeable with "mass murderer" in history books.

Solution: FA Qs. Having difficulty tracking all of those items is more or less the POINT of such a quest. You don't want to do it the hard way, then get the FAQ out.

Or you could do it like in Twilight Princess, where you could ask a fortune teller about hints leading to heart pieces.

Problem: Games in which you need common knowledge that simply isn't common outside of the studio's home nation.

Solution: Get a team that doesn't suck to localize it. (what game, specifically, are you referring to?)
