I feel kind of embarrassed to ask, but I'm kinda looking for something that resembles Neopets circa 2005, right about the time I was playing, before Viacom ruined it.

I was just reminiscing about it back in IJAM, and I'm kinda looking for a good Spiritual Successor to what the site used to be like.

What did Viacom do? Make it mostly Pay-To-Play? (as in if you want to not fall behind, you better pay for premium)

Well, there's neocash, for one thing, the new pet designs suck (they no longer have angry images, for example), Faerieland Tastes Like Diabetes even more than before, and all the more mature plots like the Ski Resort murder mystery have been removed from the site.

Sort of. They have way too much focus on the NC Mall, which is the pay-to-play part of the site. Nowadays, there's basically no way to get the full experience of the site for free.

^ And really? They took them down? Huh. (I'm sort of enjoying the new plot, though. The first two steps were neat puzzles, and we actually have some battling this time!)

Ah...I totally agree with you there...especially the new designs, and the much more interesting old plots.

I'm mainly asking this because I kinda remember hearing about a site that's a little bit like Neopets, only it aims to recreate what it used to be before Viacom took over.

Would that happen to be Subeta?

This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...

I wonder if you could play "Old" Neopets via some intense Grease Monkey scripting? Any idea how much old content is still hosted by the Server?
