OP by Acebrock

Trope dates back to 2011, but has a description that barely reaches barebones, and establishes no meaning for the trope beyond that it happens, plus it's only wicked on 11 pages, and even if the on-page examples were crosswicked, it wouldn't hit the threshold for standing by any stretch.

I propose that we cut and yard the trope, as, while I do see a tropable concept here, it needs to be done far better than this.

[Tabs suggestion/addendum: this is redundant with Taxman Takes the Winnings, which is far healthier and describes why "lose a bunch of earned money in taxes" is meaningful]

Pinging ~Acebrock. ~Rubber_Lotus also requested a ping.

As for my vote, merge with Taxman Takes the Winnings can work.

Merge.

I would also like to point out that the name of the trope isn't even correct, since it's actually talking about tax withholding not deductions (deductions would result in you paying less in taxes than expected, pretty much the exact opposite of the trope).

Ah, neat, it's finally up!

Yeah, merge. I have some vague ideas for starting a new trope about actual tax deductions (from what I've seen they're generally used in offhand wisecracks about why the character has X inconvenience lying around).

[up] Go for it. If you cannot gather enough examples, there's always the option to put it in the salvage yard. [tup]

We can once again waive the three day rule due to low wick count.

Move any applicable wicks to Taxman Takes the Winnings. I'll move the on-page examples.

Due to the discovery that the trope misused a pre-existing term, the old destination will be cut. The actual term will be sent to the salvage yard.

Another thread wrapped up. Only the gasoline example did not qualify, by the way; it was just taxes with no winnings.
