I found Sex Is Interesting through the random button and decided to skim the page because I have never heard of the trope before. I read the description but I am finding it hard to find a more specific scope for the trope than the broad "sex is interesting".

There doesn't appear to be much unity between the examples either and several are just about promiscuous characters.

It seems like some of the examples are "a character likes sex", and others are "the creator inserts gratuitous sexual content to catch attention" (which may be redundant with Sex Sells).

Looking through the page history, there's nothing before 2011, so it seems to be one of our Wild West-era tropes from before the TLP system was developed.

TLP has existed since at least 2007. It predates TRS . It was created and launched in TLP in 2010 (draft)

There wasn't much development on the draft and some people had concerns that the trope duplicates Everyone Has Lots of Sex (some of the examples on the page do fit that trope)

As this trope appears to be a mess in its current state, I might wick check and queue it for TRS later.

Yeah, and looking at the creator's explanation for what this trope is in response to those concerns:

This trope is about a theme, specifically, "this is sex so it must be interesting". It can be applied to a show or a character. A show that revels in its Everybody Has Lots Of Sex setting is probably invoking this trope unless the writer is somehow writing steamy sex scenes by complete accident.

So, the point of the trope appears to be about a show that's written to be all about characters (or a character whose role in the story is) having lots of sex because that's an interesting subject to explore. I think it's trying to be "using highly sexually active characters or storylines to explore why the narrative of sex attracts audiences to such characters or storylines".

I think.

It feels more like an analysis of how story writers use sex, and how that use has changed over time with changing societal attitudes towards sex, than a trope in its own right.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.
