The Bizarre Cases of the Carter Ghost Hunters

The year is 2012.

Carter Community College is a small Californian Community College.

Located nearby a small suburb, it is rife with fraternity drama, sports clubs - whatever lets the college students there escape the fact the suburb has no dark secret - just that it really is that boring. This brings us to...the Carter College Ghost Hunting Club.

Aiming for the kind of fame that Ghost Adventures and other such entertainment achieved, the Carter Ghost Hunting Club travels the countryside looking for any evidence of hauntings and ghostly encounters.

And for their part, there's not exactly been too many cases. The supposed "Pale Lady" of the nearby ravine? No luck finding her. The rumored haunted cafe that supposedly played host to a Deal with the Devil by the abusive old owner? The product of a disgruntled business partner spreading rumors.

So you could expect that nobody might be expecting much when the nearby town verging on small city Ironclad started registering multiple strange occurrences and ghostly encounters, there might be some skepticism about how "real" it is. Yet when a call was put in by a member of the club, the person they contacted stressed they needed someone versed in these "kinds of things" to come there.

That it's "out of control" there, and that there's a new thing happening every single day at this rate.

And so the Carter College Ghost Hunters climb into Cameraman Manny's truck and head out there, intent on finding their fifteen minutes of fame, not knowing how complicated and bizarre their lives are about to become...

Appearance:

Suit, short hair. Practical clothing.

Black hair and brown eyes. Tomboyish looking haircut. Practical yet formal looking shoes.

6'0. She's tall.

Wears a tailor made suit with deep pockets. Wears a tie with a tie clip to keep it from flying everywhere. The tie is orange.

In her hair she wears a small fake realistic looking orange flower that is tucked behind her left ear.

Skills:

Business woman. Guns (hunting) Self defense Friggin prepared... but good lord she is not what I'd call socially normal!

Personality:

Well, Zoya being from a rich family means that she needs to behave herself in the public eye. More quiet, reserved, polite, analytical, and thoughtful — But not as outgoing or expressive as she wants to be! However, upon gaining her stand, the stand acts out those inner feelings of what she finds cool and expresses it for her. Even if Ghouliday has a "separate mind", in the end, they share the same soul and will to fight (and a manipulative person to boot, but not maliciously.)

Background:

Rich family, business woman stuff. Not so much a student but rather works with the financial stuff and has to stay on campus for her work until she works for her mother's company. This is a start for her career and she accepted this. Due to her position, she is often roaming around on campus to get info from others for her work as needed... and ended up being the club adviser for the ghost hunter club.

Interest.

• Name: Dave Matthews (no relation)
• Age: 19
• Gender: Male
• Appearance: Dave is tall and muscular. Like think of the stereotypical big man on campus and you've a general sense of Dave's build. Add well-gelled blonde hair and a fashion sense that seems like a budget attempt at rich kid yacht wear and that's the rest of the look filled in.
• Skills: General strength and fitness as a member of the college track team. Primary researcher for the Ghost Hunting Club. Able to hold normal conversation.
• Personality: Loud, upbeat and confident, Dave Matthews is the archetypal frat boy on the surface, though just as obvious are the traits he has on top of that template. He's clearly friendly, willing to take a jovial tone with everyone on first meetings and only approaching someone with anything less happy if they have well and truly ended up on his bad side. Dave has a strong sense of fair play, avoiding what feels like cheating to get ahead most obviously in his fitness regime but also just in general. And perhaps the least obvious trait is an appetite for discovery and a surprising level of rigor when it comes to investigation and research.
• Background: While initially Dave joined the Ghost Hunting Club 'ironically' (as in, as a complex untold joke about a group of paranormal investigators having a wily beefcake) he actually got invested in the (so far unsuccessful) ghost hunting endeavors and especially how doing research on the supposed supernatural occurrences dredges up compelling stories of local history.
• Et Cetera:
  • Dave thinks that if the group manages to find enough really cool pieces of local history, they should start a podcast about it.
  • Dave loves it when people riff on the joke that led to him to join the club because he honestly believes the cartoon is evergreen media.

I'm interested. By the way, NickTheSwing, if this isn't too bad/personal/awkward of a question, what happened to the Mythic roleplay? I haven't seen activity from it. I had interest too.
