We may have gotten Beta Rey Bill if half the film wasn't trying to do Planet Hulk.

It would be darkly funny if this movie was instead half a Hercules movie. Like Herc just shows up randomly and suddenly half the movie is about him. evil grin

I would love to see Beta Ray Bill in the MCU.

I think there's a 50-50 chance he shows up in a post-credits scene here. Him and Thunderstrike are one of the few really iconic elements of Thor's runs still completely untouched (and everyone loves Beta Ray Bill over Thunderstrike, sorry eric).

Given the events of Ragnarok, I could also see Caiera and/or Skaar appearing in a stinger.

Bill’s origin would be interesting since his home world was destroyed by Surtur and his demons. So would they bring Surtur back or change it to someone else I wonder.

[up][up] It doesn’t help Eric that Jane already fills the same general concept he does making him redundant with her around. Even Avengers Assemble settled on naming Jane-Thor Thunderstrike.

I'm starting to wonder at this point if the only reason Gorr is all white is because he fell into a jar of paint.

[up] Eh? I think the concept is pretty obvious: his powers, possibly related to the Necro Sword if that's what they're going with, involve draining the color out of the landscape, likely as a metaphor for draining life itself. It is visually striking with the high-contrast black and white grading combined with splashes of color, like Gorr's eyes and Zeus' thunderbolt.

I have no comics background to go on, but Waititi has said publicly that Christian Bale's performance is what really makes the character work, and I'm totally willing to offer the benefit of the doubt. A villain isn't scary because of what they look like or what they can do; a villain is scary because of how they act.

Though in this case his white skin is cause he's an alien and thats just how his people naturally look, no different to how Drax and Gamora have green skin or Nebula has blue skin.

Though he did gain a more gruesome visage after long term contact with All-Black.

[up][up] to be fair Christian Bale is an absolutely fantastic physical actor and if you're halfway competent as a director you don't hire him and then hide him under a ton of CGI and/or practical effects.

Waititi had the same concept when he cast Jeff Goldblum in Ragnarok - just a bit of makeup and hair product and otherwise just letting the actor do their thing.

New commercial, has a little new footage and dialogue.

Thor acknowledged Gorr and says he's building a team against him, and Valkyrie's excited "I get to fight again" says everything about motivation this movie. [lol]

We also get a little clash between Thor and Gorr, the most curious thing I find is how every scene with Gorr his sword remains in it's basic broadsword state. Makes me think they are holding back from showing the necrosword's morph weapon powers.

That seems to be the case.

Would be nice to have someone who likes rulership.

Just for something different. Then again, those who often want to be kings or queens seem to always be shitty kings or queens.

That's always been the issue with Thor, if we remember. He doesn't actually want to rule Asgard; he wants to go off and be the God of Thunder, kicking ass and taking names. Loki does want to rule, and we've seen how that goes. When Thor names Valkyrie King (or Queen?) of New Asgard at the end of Endgame, she doesn't seem too thrilled about it, and in this movie we are going to see why.

There's the issue that Thor and Val were trained to be warriors and little else.

Their lives were basically punch faces and then drink for the rest of the day.

Neither were ever prepared or possess the proper mindset to handle the drudgery of administrative duties.

Odin did but he prolly got used it as he got older. Thor and Val are pretty young by Asgardian standards.

Two things that make me curious.

1. Despite saying his "superheroing days were over", Thor seems eager to put a new Super Team together here. And he seems excited for adventure! I'm down.

2. Thor names the Guardians as a member of this team, even though they aren't anywhere on the poster. Maybe more misleading advertising?

Also, hearing Rocket's voice for the first time since Endgame is very delightful.

Trust no one.

I'm glad the trailer isn't putting the Guardians front-and-center, because this is supposed to be a Thor film, not a Guardians film. I don't mind them being there, of course, but I don't think they'll be much use against a villain on Gorr's level. Maybe his powerset is so specifically tailored to killing gods that mere mortals can get some licks in?

I expect that Thor will be going on a journey to rediscover why he fights. He was so depressed in Endgame after all his valor and heroism failed that I think he lost confidence in himself. This will be about getting it back.

I doubt the Guardians would be much use against Gorr. This is a guy can manhandle God's with his bare hands with little to no difficulty.

I assume Thor judt asks for their help but they bail after the prologue to do their own stuff.

The Power Stone, specifically, which murdercides anyone who dares touch it without being really tough. I don't know if Quill's Celestial heritage makes him more or less suited to face Gorr — I feel like it doesn't.
