Yeah that was awesome.

I don't think Luffy fruit will be retcon into something else but I still can't wait to see what it could be.

What are your guys ideas about it?

I heavily dislike the idea of retconing Ruffys fruit to a logia or mythical zoan, just because i see no way to pull that off in a satisfying manner. I am however starting to think that what makes the gum-gum-fruit special might not be the fruit itself, but that Joyboy has found a way to bind his conciousness/soul/whatever to the fruit (and achieve a form of immortality through the fruits reincarnation), which is what makes that fruit so important/dangerous for the world goverment. Only thing is i cant figure out the trigger to bring that conciousnes/soul/whatever out.

So Luffy might be the Sun God/possessed by the Sun God now, that's neat I guess

Hmm... we have always heard about the Devils in the fruits... what if those devils are actually the minds and wills of certain people possibly from the Void century. Inherited Will is a continuous theme. Could that be why Momo's fruit is considered a failure it wasn't able to inherit the will of the orginal Fish-Fish Fruit: Model Azure Dragon.

Well, the people of the ancient kingdom would probably be considered the enemies of the gods, or in the other words, devils.

And we know lineage factor which is pretty much DNA plays a role in devil fruits.

Plus it's a very One Piece thing to have the answer to the big mystery in front of our faces all along and still being a surprise.

So yeah, it kinda feels like that's where it may be going. The secret ingredient of Devil Fruits is human souls.

Spoilers out. Luffy's a Mythical Zoan all along. Hito Hito Model Nikka. This is so silly.

These are the details known so far:

Chapter 1044: “Warrior of Liberation”.

-Some of Luffy's allies (Sanji, Kid, Law, Hyougorou and Marco) feel his presence and that he is still alive.

- Conversation of the Gorousei in the castle of Mary Geoise.

- The World Government has always tried to get the "Gomu Gomu no Mi", but they have not been able to do it in 800 years.

- It seems as if that Akuma no Mi ran away from them.

-A member of the Gorousei says that he is not crazy, since the Zoan fruits have a mind of their own.

-The Gorousei says that the "Gomu Gomu no Mi" is actually a Zoan-type fruit, and that his real name is "Hito Hito no Mi" (Human Human Fruit) Mythological-Model "Nika".

- In the chapter we also see a part of Hiyori and Orochi.

- Luffy has awakened his fruit and now he feels he is fully. It's his “Gear 5”.

- Luffy vs. Kaidou.

- Luffy grabs Kaidou from the roof and takes him upstairs, then attacks him in a savage way.

- Luffy grabs the ground and transforms it into rubber to return a Bolo Breath to Kaidou.

This is kind of how Awakened Paramecia work too — transforming one's surroundings instead of just one's body.

X3 I read that then paused as I released that I had no idea what that meant until I looked it up and apparently that was the sun god that Who’s Who talked about.

If these are accurate, then it certainly puts Shanks's possession of the Gum-Gum Fruit and his conversation with the Five Elders on a whole new light.

Which also makes their reaction to Luffy just casually eating the fruit even funnier.

Seems bit nonsensical if true. Like how is fire/sun god and rubber themed abilities related?

I'm assuming Shanks knew already due to being with Roger, but imagine if he and/or his crew didn't learn the significance of the Gum-Gum fruit until some point in between Luffy's eating it and now?

Also, Zoan Fruits having a mind of their own possibly explains why the inanimate objects with Devil Fruits have been Zoans.

Thinking about it I think that the stretching and rubber abilities are just things that Nika can naturally do and anyone who eats his fruit will gain Nika's natural abilities. Now I'm wondering what if Luffy ate the Human-Human fruit: Model Mr. Fantastic. Just imagine Luffy with a all of Mr.Fantastics knowledge, intelligence and power cosmic but still having his same old personality.

I can't help but imagine something like Entrapta from She-Ra and the Princesses of Power

So when can we expect some internet denizen to update the One Piece Rap with “Yo Ho Ho, he took a bite of Nika”?

Part of me imagines Luffy using all the knowledge, intelligence and power cosmic that a Mr.Fantastic fruit would give him to figure out the dumbest most dangerous and chaotic route to one piece.

Implying that isn’t the route he’s been going on.

...So that would make Shiryu as Invisible Woman and Sabo as Human Torch?

Also, Luffy's Awakening... Not sure how to feel about it.

Awakenings of Ito Ito Fruit and Mochi Mochi Fruit being able to make their surroundings into their respective "elements"(strings and mochi) makes sense, since they can, well, create those things normally from their bodies. Luffy, on the other hand, doesn't create rubber, his body is rubber, so how could he change his surroundings into rubber, when he, well, doesn't create rubber?

Honestly, I would have prefered if Awakening of Luffy's Gomu Gomu/Hito Hito Fruit, Model: Nika was closer to Kid and Law's Awakenings of Jiki Jiki Fruit and Ope Ope Fruit, where both of them can add the attributes of their fruits to outside their bodies(for example, Kid making Big Mom magnetic and Law adding special Room around his sword). With Luffy, he could grab that ground, but instead of transforming it into rubber, he would add the attribute of rubbery into, meaning it would still be ground, hard and rocky... but also rubbery.

...Oh well, still looking forward to next chapter.

I assume Nikas ability to stretch could symbolize how the light of the sun reaches far and wide.

Human-Human Fruit, Model: Nika

One amazing chapter Oda. Luffy's DF turns out to be something else these past 1000+ chapters, opens up even more questions in regards to Shanks, Gear Fifth is finally here and so is the warrior of liberation

I'm kinda curious now if Mythical Zoan awakenings also grant a bunch of new powers beside regen/durability/stamina. Luffy's here is acting like the actual Rubber fruit's would probably act too.

Just to ask an obvious question, is Nika a Thing in real life or just in OP? Because all the Zoan models, even the Human-Human Fruit, have models based on things that exist or are known of in real life.

Also, remember the end of Fishman Island, a joke is made where Chopper worries about the Blackbeard Pirates taking his fruit only to be told they wouldn't want the Human-Human Fruit...?
