The maps of gens before 5 (and I'd even say before 6 or even 7) are angular as fuck. Either you reinvent the entire map, which has never been done, or you stylize stuff.
I dont think the art style choice had anything to do with it; the remakes always had chibi styles to them. Even Let's Go had a weird mix of chibi and SM's art.

I thought the SwSh backlash was entirely focused on Dexit (which, yeah, I wasn't a fan of, but I was able to look past it and enjoy the game for what it is), never heard about any graphical backlash.

Honestly, the fact that so little has changed about Sinnoh is probably a testament to how well Sinnoh has aged compared to some other regions.
That being said, can't wait to get slowed the fuck down by that snow route. And I hope the postgame is just as expansive as DPPT's was. That's what has been missing from some of the more recent games.

In regards to SwSh, people complained less about the artstyle and more about the absolute jank displayed at many points

So we got 2 big game announcements today, I think GF realized they cant really just handle everything on their own anymore, so outsourcing this game to the Pokemon Home Crew is a nice call so that they can focus their ambitions on L Egends. I'd say its a pretty fair sacrifice to make.

It Really isnt that awful unless you stare at the transitions from top down to straight ahead. Its charming, like the Link's awakening remakes. Cartoony. This is the Pokemon People remember, and you can tell from the overjoyed screams people were worried about having DP in Swsh proportions.

I have no interest in ridiculing people; this game not being made by Game Freak alone kind of takes the sting out of it somewhat.
I just hope they add enough content to make it worth the buck. I was mostly satisfied with ORAS, but this didn't even have anything new to show off from the outset.

I'm also a bit disappointed they didn't give Lucas and Dawn redesigns. I'm hoping character customization is present at least.
My biggest fear is on the mechanical side. I'm hoping we keep the Platinum dex because the original DP dex was a pain, especially when it comes to fire.

I doubt you can decide on something as extremely subjective as the "worth" of playing game after only seeing a trailer of around two minutes.
I guess I should not be surprised, but I'm pretty disappointed it took less than an hour for people to declare the remakes awful and not worth playing.

Let’s not put words in people’s mouths. I think most people who are concerned (myself admittedly included) just want there to be a bit more to chew on, otherwise you might as well just play Platinum.
Granted, plenty of people haven’t played Gen IV, so that wouldn’t really apply to them. And it is true that we haven’t seen everything, so I’ll definitely wait to make a final judgement.
