Yeah, that makes sense.

Though though arguably makes it even worse - regional management not consulting the main branch before pulling such a stunt is bad enough, the main branch looking over it and going "Looks fine to me" is worse.

Or that they can't as it would make them look bad and be in the wrong which is something they would rather avoid. That and this entire debacle shows that they are incompetent enough to do this when you question everything about this shitshow.

While everyone's rummaging through rrats on whether Elira = management or whatnot (frankly I don't care, she "volunteered" and thus must bear responsibility for the fallout), there's an impending storm with NEXAS, a new VTuber company that's set to debut 27 VTubers over 3 days on Kick. Not only is that way too many debuts in a short time, but Kick is a far less known streaming platform than either YouTube or Twitch, and you have to download an intrusive app to even watch those debuts. Then you have the so-called NEXAS CEO who goes around being a total PR failure. It's like they took a look at Nijisanji and decided to accelerate exaggerate the black company's shotgun approach and crappy PR.

This looks to be dead-on-arrival.

Is Nijisanji (especially after the Selen Tatsuki fiascos) still on their downwards spiral? It's a Fanwork-Only Fans work by this point.

Views are still down by a good chunk, and Virtual Rhapsody SG is apparently not sold out, both the event itself and the meet and greets after.

Rosemi and Maria have their reps good and even then, they got a view hit. my goblin girls need love. Scarle seems to have a better standing than ever, but I think people will forget her little kurosanji heart comment incident later on.

Do you think any expo in the Western hemisphere would let Nijien as guests anymore?

Yup, which is why they’re delaying the Minecraft stream, as well as the Rock and Rawr Party they’d already delayed after Mogojan’s migraine last week.

Poor Mocochan, these past few weekends just haven’t been kind to her.

We'll have to see, but this whole drama doesn't seem to have affected the scheduling for most cons. So far, only Offkai really rejected Nijisanji. Anime Impulse still has Luxiem/Noctyx/Krisis as guests for the Seattle event on May. I'll only know myself if my local con, Otakuthon, does not feature NijiEN when they complete the guest list by next month. For the record, Otakuthon's first in-person con since the COVID-19 pandemic was in 2022 and did feature NijiEN (Elira, Rosemi, Nina, Millie and Enna), as did 2023's edition (Alban and Uki, with Sister Claire and Sara Hoshikawa as late additions).

Oh, the thing about Nexas is that it's intentionally set up to be a competition between the talents, with open favoritism for those who do well. It is going to be hell

I've seen people compare the Nexas thing to a battle royale, and from what others have said, it sure feels that way, with the way they have people streaming in the same slot and the sheer number of them. Feels weird and cutthroat and against what VTubers are all about. Top it all off with that they have to stream on that weird, restrictive app and it seems like this already started subterranean and is only going to go deeper.

This is more of the competition I'm into. Amiya Aranha played some Dreamcast fighting games :p

That stream was fun to watch. Tech Romancer was a fun-looking concept. And the self Ring Out by the Soulcalibur Final Boss was hilarious!

Also, from Nerissa's stream; Biboo knows about the Momseki art and she is not pleased...

Nijisanji's VR Rhapsody happened today in Singapore and on top of glaring technical issues (several talents could barely be heard, Millie was introduced as MILLLE) the whole thing was a pre-recorded video playing before lots of empty seats - reportedly there were only about 40 people in the audience at one point.

And in addition to this, Niji Fes 2024 has been cancelled, and the video they released to promote 2025 notably is mostly JP, and EN only appeared for a few seconds near the end—and even then only showed Rosemi and Marie

One thing that was overlooked in this thread these past days is Vox's latest outfit reveal. Dear God, it's ugly! It's definitely LAM's worst design, no offence to the artist's incredible work history. It's not just the togglable facial hair that seems to be painted on, it's the confusing design choice; it's supposed to be a fanservice-y samurai outfit, yet it looks more like what you'd use for an ashigaru, a lowly foot soldier. Should've really just pandered to China and donned some baller dynasty replica armour.

All in all, this seems to have tanked his popularity even further. There's a noticeable dip on his bilibili audience and YT CCV after that outfit reveal.

[up]x5 Really the fact that they were held on the same day allowed people to easily compare Hololive's Dreamhack to Nijisanji's VR Rhapsody and the two don't even try to measure up.

Hololive not only had a better performance all around, it was actually cheaper than Nijisanji's.

It's hard to believe that Nijisanji was supposed to be the bigger company with how amateur their performance was.

At this point their EN is done for and everyone knows it.

[up]It's no surprise that his Non-Japanese Asian fans would be displeased with his design of going with a Japanese military looking outfit. I'm not usually one to bring up cultural sensibilities, but common sense should suggest that China and even other parts of Asia won't be happy if you dress up as one of their historic oppressors.
