Seems like that’s going on in Sandbox.Gender Blender Name.
I expected the page to have "types" (or at least a remnant of it). To my surprise, it doesn't.
So those folders don't make sense.
We can never truly eradicate the coronavirus, but we can suppress its threat like influenzaWhat do you mean by "types"?
It used to be common to have tropes with a list of subtypes, and then the examples would either be split up into sections according to the types or each example would be essentially "Work : Bob is a type 3"
In this case, it would mean the description would have a section something like
1.Chosen on purpose : The character's name was chosen (in universe) because it was the wrong gender.
2.Country Dependent : The names expected gender varies from one country to another.
3.Cultural Transformation : The name used to be one gender but over time had become associated with the other.
etc.

Yeah, that soft-split is removed, especially since no. 2 & 3 veers into Audience Reaction / Values Dissonance category, and leads to general examples and duplicate entries.
I've finally gotten around sorting those loose examples in the Sandbox page, by the way.
Of course, the sandbox was started a year ago, so new examples have popped up since. I updated it. I'd prefer the list be alphabetized, but I'm not going to make an issue of it.
Can we swap it in?
I guess so.
I'm surprised it hasn't been done yet. The Sandbox/ looks good, and has looked good for quite some time.
I'd like if the current content got salvaged somehow though. With some pruning and rewriting, it could be turned into a Useful Notes page. Similar to Separated by a Common Language (trope) and UsefulNotes.Separated By A Common Language. It started similarly with a split from TRS.
Swapped the sandbox. Literally; since expressed an interest in keeping the old version for posterity, I put it on Sandbox.Gender Blender Name.
I don't see why you'd want it, but if you do there it is.
We had a thread for this before, but it fizzled out and now I can't find it.
Gender-Blender Name is not split by medium, but instead by a bunch of random categories like "chosen on purpose" and "country-dependent." Internal subtropes like that historically just confuse people and make it unclear where to add new examples. Can we please sort them into a normal example list?
