My Hero Academia - Manga Spoiler thread (Untagged spoilers)

This right here is why being apart of the Sonic fandom is a blessing as much as it is a curse....I often feel like it's a curse though cuz 20 years of this shit has worn me down...

Im mean Im pretty clear that I understand very well how Dabi got here,especially as with the Todorokis family past we lack the context of Touya burning himself and what became of him afterwards.

Doesn't change he needs to be stopped and that its clearly drove him mad this lack of value and self-worth he views his life as having.

I said the same thing myself....well, not the TDK quote, but the part above.

He definitely should not have held it back for so long. At the very least, he should have let the audience know first, because even if we knew, it wouldn't have changed how devastating it was to those in-universe.

The trick is to ignore the people whose opinions annoy you. I followed some people on it with good takes and then Dabi and Hawks came along and they took a dive off the sanity cliff. There's just someone about people vigorously living out their family issues through Dabi that just makes me want to not deal with that. So i quit following them, and my sanity stopped taking damage.

The great thing about a big fandom is that you can carve out your own niche, and put a giant wall around it. Kinda like we do here on this forum.

I genuinely do not believe anything would've changed. It's pretty clear they're in it for the "fuck all abusers, burn everything to the ground".

Yea, I don't have time to deal with people projecting their own mental illness on these characters.

God, I'm sudden reminded how someone tried to shoehorn Ambiguous Disorder onto everyone's character page.

Yeah, I want to say that it would keep the "secretly caring onii-san" fanon from getting out of hand, but canon showing otherwise didn't make a dent in the idea he loves his team.

Either way, it is kind of a shame that the Dabi-stans have gotten to be so prominent and vocal that it's made it hard for those who just enjoy him as a villain. Like, I can say that I really like Shigaraki without people assuming I'm into him and think he's done no wrong, but it's impossible to look up Dabi content without seeing oodles of annoying justifications.

Must be the crispy skin attracting people. Nothing quite like tasting like bacon to make people want you!

I'm near positive TDK Joker also said it, but he said so much cool stuff maybe I'm just getting some of it confused.

Oh I love canon!Dabi being an absolute piece of shit who doesn't care about his family.

Too often in fiction, you have an evil sibling who's not actually evil at all, but is just misunderstood and actually nice.

So I'm glad Hori established that no matter what happened, to him he's a villain.

And to complete the Avatar parallels.

Also Dabi is, like, the Anti-Azula.

He's kinda is like Azula, actually. Since its clear they both wanted to be the Golden Child, and the people they ended up as was in part the product of their dads not giving them what they deserved(Along with Azulas whole paranoia rant). That she was being treated "like Zuko" is part of her psychotic breakdown.

Hes more of Azula and what became of her near the end(Sonce the comics she apparently wants to be an Evil Mastermind behind Zuko but is also still deranged and unstable)

Between this talk of Dabi Stans and the new Vigilante makes me wonder why no one seems to bother with this effort for Kurogiri. Poor thing just wanted what's best for his ward and ended up mentally broken for it.

Half kidding here.

Kurogiri isn't human enough for people to lust after, I guess.

More seriously: for context, going by the first portion the post, it seems to be suggesting that this is an elaborate suicide by cop for Dabi, and he's shut off his feelings for others so that it'll be easier to do.

This is why I want Dabi to survive. If he dies now, when he's finally shown his hand and his personality, it'll just be a huge cop out of exploring the entire family's feelings in the fall out.

Even worse, he'll just viewed as a martyr by the fandom.

Plus, if this is an elaborate way to get himself killed, then his dying means The Bad Guy Wins.

Well, he can go ahead and celebrate his success at getting killed in the afterlife.

Edit: Does it really matter if he wants to die? If he wanted to live, would that matter?

Besides, he still wants to kill his brother. Gotta have that emotional brotherly final showdown.

He wants to die and rid the world of his presence? Sounds like a mutually beneficial scenario. He dies and nobody else would get hurt further because of him.

Doesn't sound too much like a bad thing, him wanting to die and...actually dying. By himself, I mean.

I think the implication is if he dies, it will hurt Endeavor even more to lose his son a second time.
