A defense-oriented build I can suggest is to go with the Shield and try to get Zeus and Ares' duo boon, Vengeful Mood. It'll allow you to automatically strike an enemy within range with any revenge boon you have every three seconds.
Welp, spent the Titan Blood to unlock every Aspect and gave the Poseidon Aspect a try.
It's not Arthur, but the combination of the Special's effects (removes Blood Crystals from an enemy) and the Artemis boon Exit Wounds is very nice.

Disgusted, but not surprisedI've come to find that relying strictly on the forced exit part of Poseidon's aspect to be a bit of a trap. Even spells like Dionysus' or Demeter's still pair really well with Poseidon's aspect, Demeter's moreso if you manage to pair it with the Artemis or Aphrodite duo boons. That 50% at max level makes it hit ridiculously hard; melts health like you wouldn't believe.
Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets.Just finished my second clear. Took me long enough. I used the Eris Gun. It was a really rough run to start with but I managed to get through it.
I had a Zeus/Poseidon build with the Duo boon and 13.5% dodge on the Hermes keepsake.
GIVE ME YOUR FACEAnother pretty potent synergy is the Duo boon for Dionysus/Zeus while mixed with the Jolted effect.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.Gotta give it to Hades. He gives the guy who attempted to kidnap his wife an important and prestigious position.
Where there's life, there's hope. That's in part due to the qualifier that Theseus wasn't the one who wanted to kidnap Persephone. That was his friend Pirithous.
Even in the original myth, Hades let Theseus off easy - kind of. Hades let Heracles tear Theseus out of that chair, yes...but as a consequence, Theseus' buttcheeks lost a lot of flesh in the process.
Never was "your ass is mine" quite so literal.
Hades didn't show any mercy to Pirithous, the guy who targeted Persephone. When Heracles moved to help him too, Hades made the entire underworld shake to show Heracles that, no, that guy stays.
Worth noting that Theseus went along with this because he and Pirithous had promised to help each other kidnap a daughter of Zeus to be their wife, and Pirithous had already helped Theseus kidnap his target, Helen (yes that Helen).
Who was twelve at the time.

Disgusted, but not surprisedAfter 50 attempts, I finally beat Hades. Well, I used 32% God Mode.
Where there's life, there's hope.Huh, I can't even remember what my build was when I finally beat Hades the first time.
And now you just have to beat him about 6 or 7 more times to get the ending!

Disgusted, but not surprisedYou can check if you go to the archive room. Not sure if/when a run's stats get overwritten though.
You know, it just dawned on me with Hades' hatred of Heracles. He claims it's simply because he's not as righteous as the stories about him allude to, but I think it's deeper to that.
According to the myths, Heracles actually ascends to become a full-on Olympian God after death, thanks to Zeus' intercession. In other words, Heracles both cheated the rules of death and got to do the one thing that Hades was quite literally denied.
Anyone else find the Hydra and Theseus and the Minotaur fights easier with extreme measures on?
GIVE ME YOUR FACEAlso never underestimate Privileged Status. It's easy to inflict two curses on enemies and soon enough you'll tear through them due to the massive damage boost you get.
Theseus yes, Hydra and Minotaur no. XD
The Protomen enhanced my life.Currently trying to get some Titan's Blood. I beat the game on 2 Heat thus far. The second time I beat Hades with 2 seconds to spare.
Where there's life, there's hope.Agreed. Theseus is weirdly enough easier since he's not hiding behind his blasted shield for the majority of the fight. The Hydra is a bigger pain in the ass because of the increased amount of lava.
Several of the Fated Prophecies will reward you quite a bit of blood. Also, each weapon will offer the same bounties at each heat level. Just in case you've been primarily favorite one weapon type.

Hmm, I've been maining the sword, but I suppose I'll give the spear and shield another try.
Where there's life, there's hope. The shield is really good because it's very safe. You can use the bull charge to nullify a lot of damage and you can use the special to tag enemies with debuffs and do damage from pretty far away.
Personally, I hate the shield, and my best weapon are the fists because angery punch means things die nownownownow
It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothesChaos Aspect shield is really good. Especially with hammers that upgrade the Special and Bull Rush.
Disgusted, but not surprisedMy favorite weapon is the shield cause of its flow when attacking. It's a really smooth weapon to use, and the blocking can really save you if you're stuck in a corner or against a wall. (The fully-leveled Aspect of Zagreus boosting its base attack damage to 50-60 probably helped a lot with my playthroughs XD)
The Protomen enhanced my life.My favourite is the fists, but I'm more successful with the Bow.
I get a bit overly aggressive with the fists and start to forget that whole "pick your spots" thing.
Aspect of Demeter will remain my number one favorite. Nothing beats charging up that special then unleashing a massive uppercut, especially since each hit will proc whatever applicable boon you have, such as Artemis’ homing arrows.
Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets.I've fully upgraded the Nemesis aspect and finished Heat-4 with the Sword. Will start running with other weapons now.
Also wow, the shield is incredibly unfriendly towards the Dpad. Aiming at 45° angle is a nightmare.

Where there's life, there's hope.
The easiest "build" to work with is probably the Rail and Zeus' Lightning Strike. Seriously, I cannot do justice to how good this build is with words alone.
I guess putting a Dionysus boon on it works too, since it lets you get max Hangover stacks on your enemies pretty quickly.
Disgusted, but not surprised
