Pity Apollo isn't included because the game has the perfect excuse for a boss fight with him: Apollo, in several versions of the tale, is a really big Knight Templar Big Brother and has Orion killed because he's the only man that tempted Artemis into breaking her vow.
Artemis, in here, clearly gets a little crush on Zagreus, so it'd be fun for the sunny bastard to come on down into the Underworld and have an extra boss fight.
He and Helios were conflated in some versions, right? We did end up lacking some fire-themed boons.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.I'm reminded of an Overly Sarcastic Productions episode where it's mentioned that the whole "Orion was the only man Artemis ever loved" came from a bunch of people taking a line where Apollo is worried that Orion might seduce Artemis with his hunting skills and interpreting it as "Artemis and Orion hung out together because they were in love."
I'm more amused that there are several stories where Artemis purposefully killed Orion because Orion wouldn't leave her lady friends alone.

There's also a tale where Artemis and Orion were about to hunt every beast of the world into extinction and Gaia had the latter killed to prevent it.
Pretty much.
Orion might also have or have not been a giant, and born out of the piss puddle of three gods.

Taking God of the Hunt to its natural conclusion I see.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I don't believe he's even mentioned (although given the massive amount of incidental dialogue in this game i could be wrong). Hera doesn't show up either but she's referenced multiple times, as is Hephaestus.
I don't remember allusions to Hephaestus, but there's a few to Helios.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Aphrodite mentions that she's married, off the top of my head, and I recall at least one other instance, if not the details thereof. Hestia's also mentioned, and has a weapon aspect, like Hera.

Trans rights are human rights. When picking Artemis' boon for the first time Zagreus says "Only one celestial archer I know of. Well, several, really", which could be an oblique hint to Apollo.
But then again, Chiron was turned into a constellation and Heracles wasn't half bad around a bow and was turned into a god, among probably several other exemples, so maybe in Hades' the sun god is Helios (who is actually closer to a titan, I believe) and Apollo doesn't exist.
They certainly downplay Artemis' role as the goddess of the moon and play up her being the goddess of the hunt.
Yeah that line did make me think of Apollo immediately. The game does include most of the twelve (thirteen) Olympians, I'm just excited to see the game's take on each one.
Finally met Thanatos. Dude couldn't be more Tsundere if he tried.
Man, the fists are a mediocre weapon. -gets the aspect of Talos- Man, the fists are the best weapon.
Still can't be Asterius and The Human. I feel like they have more HP than every other enemy I fight up until that point combined.
Bleye knows Sabers. To be honest I mostly either go with the default for the fists, or the hidden aspect. I haven't played with talos too much recently and haven't touched demeter at all since I got it.
You should probably expect to lose a few times to theseus and asterius before you get the hang of the fight down. You might not even finish the next area before getting to the boss either, depending on what state you're in when you get there. For me at least, getting my first finished run was a very gradual process but nowadays i never lose runs anymore (albeit I haven't really played much with high heat as yet).
I always thought that the god that you never see until you reach the surface was Hephaestus as he is generally portrayed as the black sheep of the Olympians so it made sense to me that he'd be last. Demeter was a pleasant surprise though and I like her boons.
It would be interesting if we get a DLC down the line that introduces more gods into the mix.

got the best run of my life earlier today. hidden aspect of the blade plus a ton of damage modifiers on the base attack = 1440 damage on hades in a single hit, and an end of the run in exactly 15 minutes. That's apparently good enough to show up on speedrunning leadrboards.
Man the hidden aspect of the sword is really fun to play. it's just slow enough so that you can feel the weight of the hits you put in, but not slow enough to be unplayable because everything hits you first, and it's AOE really synergises well with it.
"when you stare too long into the abyss, Xehanort takes advantage of the distraction to break into your house and steal all your shit."Went with Artemis?
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Yeah I also really enjoy the hidden aspect of the sword, it's probably my favorite weapon. It's extra funny if you go aphrodite on attack (a good idea anyway since the damage modifier for her attack is the best in the game) since it means you become ridiculously tanky in your aura combined with the weak effect.
What about Attack Demeter + Cast Demeter + Demeter/Artemis Dual Boon + Excalibur?
demeter's great for the slow effect but I wouldn't pick her cast as the optimal one over Ares's rifts.
The ofinal build didn't even had artemis. it was just the sword, aphrodite on the attack, with enough level ups to get it to +158% damage, plus two chaos boons buffing the attack by 37% each, and then a deadalus hammer giving +200% on the backstabs.
i've had a similar run today with even more backstab bonuses and actually artemis and a bunch of crit buffs. Saw a 3577 damage fly once or twice, but it didn't have the actualy power ofthe build as the damage was too situationnal and lacked some defensive options.
"when you stare too long into the abyss, Xehanort takes advantage of the distraction to break into your house and steal all your shit."So I bought the soundtrack and find it interesting that the battle songs really kick into gear at exactly the halfway mark. I guess the prelude and the fightin' tempo are really two versions of the same song.
I've beaten that asshat and his honorable bud twice now. Didn't last much longer after that. I just know someone out there has beaten it without mirror upgrades, without getting hit and without the use of both their hands.
Bleye knows Sabers.Fresh save file speedruns are a thing, albeit i don't know about those other limitations.
Gonna be honest, I think less of Darren Korb's tracks with each new Supergiant game.
Because they're bad? No, because they sound too much alike, it's almost like each new OST is a remix of the one that came before.
It feels very lazy after a while.
An artist has a distinctive style? No kidding?
I've never really gotten into any previous Supergiant games so all I know is that the music in Hades is excellent.

Trans rights are human rights.I've only played Bastion before this. And the music in that game really struck me too.
It's obvious that they're cut from the same cloth, but the music in Hades is very much tuned to the setting. Creepy and melodic and ROCK HARD.
Bleye knows Sabers. The music is decent but the only songs that really wowed me in Hades are the vocal tracks. Especially the Hymn of Zagreus, which is essentially just a long inside joke but the fact that it's so good makes it even funnier.
x3 It's not "distinct style", it's "if you swapped around the OST for all Supergiant titles, it would take some effort to be able to tell"
Yep. If you can get the right combo, you can just shoot out casts faster than the cooldowns. Big fun with Hunting Blades or Crystal Clarity.
