Sue

Sue watched in awe as Ryan emitted a burst of energy from his hand. She'd seen a lot of things in the jungle, but there weren't any evil spirits or beasties that could do something like that. "Wowza!"

Still, she had just one small question. "So, uh, hate to ask. Okay, not really. Just figured it's something you're supposed to say! But, uh, what's a hydrogen bomb? Is it a super explody thingy except water, or what?"

The floor was surprisingly sturdy, though it still dented under Sue's assault. However, within seconds the dents began to smooth themselves out. The carpet was still a bit ruffled, but the metal underneath audibly popped back into place, seemingly of it's own accord.

Before anyone could marvel at the self-repairing nature of the room, there was the crackling of electricity near the whiteboard. With sparks of light and heat, a woman burst into existence.

The teacher had arrived.

She was tall, easily the tallest person in the room. Her skin was pale, almost gray, and her eyes were an inhuman red. A fang poked out of ruby lips, and when she smiled it revealed a mouth full of sharpened teeth.

Her fingernails were long and sharp as well. They were also black, but it wasn't clear if she'd painted them or if they just looked like that.

Her hair was long, a frizzy grayish-white mess that fell down to her lower back. It was bound into a rough ponytail by a rainbow of colored wristbands, bearing words like 'strength', 'courage', and 'hope'.

She wore a plain t-shirt and jeans, and was notably barefoot, revealing her toenails to be as sharp as the ones on her fingers.

"Hey, everybody!" She announced, her voice cheerful. "Sorry I'm late! I was with my hubby and got carried away."

Turning to the board, she swiped her palm against it, and everything currently on it was pushed to one side. With a finger, she scrawled out 'Elytra Freisch - Dynami'. Then she turned back to her

"I'm the hero Dynami, but please, call me Ellie. I'll be your homeroom teacher. It's wonderful to meet all of you." Ellie's smile never left her face as she scanned over the assembled students, pausing ever so slightly on the nameless girl. "You can also call me Mama Ellie, if you want. Since I know some of you might not have any mamas of your own. But enough about that."

She plopped down into the large beanbag chair, and gestured for the others to follow suit. "Come on, everyone. Have a seat. We're gonna go in turns, and you're gonna tell me about yourselves. Name, hero name if you have one yet, powers, whatever you feel comfortable sharing. Alright?"

Ellie crossed her legs, drumming on them. "So, do I have any volunteers to go first?"

Skye raised his hand. "I will," he said.

He stood up and cleared his throat. "My name is Skye Rothach. I'm Blitzkrieg's kid, and also a precog." He paused. "I haven't done much heroing yet, so I don't have a name. I'm leaning towards Prometheus, though."

His eyes trailed across the room, lingering on Milos for a second. "I look forward to our time together." Then he sat back down.

"Kept me waiting, haven’t you? Tch. No matter. Dawdle all you’d like. In the end, your defeat remains inevitable."

After deciphering Inusuke’s signs, the girl began to giggle.

“Why would I be mad? It’s not like I’m upset that I’m short or anything. It’s a blessing I even survived this long.” This last, disconcerting statement was said in the same cheery tone as the rest of her words.

“I think you’re supposed to give your name after someone gives you theirs. But, uh...” She scratched the back of her head. “Don’t have one of those. Just call me whatever.”

Ryan Brady

"Well uh...it's kinda like a really big bomb that like, does some stuff with like, atoms and stuff...which is, uh." Ryan gesticulated for a moment right before the teacher arrived. To tell the truth, he really didn't get the science behind it very much himself. Just that when he went "boom", it was always really big and really explosive. So he had to watch for that.

And ooh, the teacher was here, and her babe levels were just plain off the charts!

Ryan heard her ask for people to come forward and introduce themselves to the class, so Skye went first and it seemed he was pretty new on the scene. Ryan figured he could go next. He stepped forward from where he was talking to Sue and went forward to the front of the class.

Whew man...

"Alright, hey everyone! My name's Ryan Brady! I was working with my bro Aaron Pratt and he let me use the name Atomix. My powers are uh..." Ryan extended his hand and once again conjured the same display he showed Sue, an undulating blue flare of heat and energy that he quickly dismissed away. "I'm basically a human nuclear weapon - full on H-Bomb, and I can use all that energy how I want. In my first outing, I took on the cyborg supervillain Vengeant!"

Ryan then said, "And otherwise, uh, I'm a dude who loves football, girls, exercise, and having fun. Glad to meet all of you! See ya 'round the school."

And with that Ryan went to go sit back down.

Everyone was so impressive! Soon was the time to showcase his own abilities!

Patting Smith on the head, Inusuke pointed at his own name on the board, grunted to draw attention to it, and raised his sword to show that he was a warrior not to be trifled with.

{I AM SPEED DOG HANYOU} he signed at the front of the classroom. {ALSO WARRIOR WANTS NOT EAT PEOPLE SO MOUTH CARRIES SEAL LOVE MOM DAD ALSO}

Sue

Ooo! Story time! Sue barely hesitated, only waiting until it was her turn (whenever that was,) to bare it all!

Okay, maybe not literally. She wouldn't mind, but apparently that got people arrested here.

Kind of stupid, honestly.

Whatever. She plopped down into the chair, lazily stretching herself out like a couch potato.

"Hiya, everybody! Name's Sue, but you all can call me Monkey Queen! So I kinda just showed Ryan this shit so I'm not gonna show it again, but basically I'm really fucking strong, and can also summon a super-duper extendy pole and zip around on a big fluffy cloud! Oh, and I can blow a few of my hairs and make more me's! Pretty cool, huh?"

Feeling an itch, she summoned her staff, scratching her back profusely. And possibly a bit lower. "That's better! So anyways, I'm from the jungle, right? Spent most of my life just doin' whatever. Eating, fighting, fu—"

No, wait. Her former handlers said that wasn't something she should go saying aloud. Or at least in that particular context. What was the preferred term? Oh, that's right. "Uh, 'extracurricular activities'. Just doin' what came naturally. But then I learned about all this crazy cool shit over here! TV, videogames, movies, all that awesome stuff! So I hopped on my Nimbus, flew on over, saw this place on TV, and here I am! Oh, there was also a bunch of other stuff like a couple fuckers trying to stick me in the zoo. Which also are crimes against nature that I'm gonna burn to the ground some day. Just so ya know. So, who's next?"

Well, the teacher arrived. Miguel wasn't sure what he was expecting, but she seemed cool so far. With a shrug he raised his hand.

"Hello there, I am Miguel Diaz, or Flare" He started "I can control fire, it comes from... well, your guess is as good as mine, it just happened one day"

Pausing for a second, he wondered what else he wanted to say.

"Well, I had my fair share of trouble, mainly causing it, so I want to try and see if this idiot can do some good for the other people"

Guh, were introductions supposed to be this awkward? Well, this was probably the last time she’d have to do this anyway, so better to get it out of the way.

“Er... so, I know we’re supposed to give our names, but I don’t really have one. I never needed one. Before this I was alone for... a long time.” The change in her face at this line was momentary but very obvious.

“As for hero names or whatever... well, some of the teachers have been calling me Locksmith, and that’s as good as anything. Er... hold on.”

The girl fished in her pocket, pulling out a small bag and dumping the object inside on the teacher’s desk while being careful not to touch it. It was a locked padlock, slightly oversized for demonstration purposes.

“My powers are... I unlock things. As long as I know the lock exists, then when I touch it or the thing it’s locking...”

She tapped the padlock. Saying it ‘unlocked’ would maybe be a misnomer. There was no unlocking motion, no process. One millisecond had it firmly locked and the next wide open, with no in-between.

“Err... I’m not always aware I’m doing it. Like if a door has a lock, I have no way of telling if it’s locked or unlocked, because it opens for me anyway. And I can’t... actually lock anything.”

“...K...Kind of. It's sort of why I'm here... I-I'm not really good at it though. If I was I wouldn't be here,” Lucy nervously giggled in reply to Ortrun, having jumped a little at Sue's brief impression of a pinball machine before relaxing somewhat once she realised everyone was okay. “I've um... not done anything like that though... not specifically– um...”

She understood what Ortrun meant about Nike. She was infectious in her energy, from what little she'd seen of her. Kind of like Hannah. Except Nike seemed more... grand in a way. It was more overwhelming to her than inspiring, though...

The teacher had arrived.

Again, Lucy sat back up and tried to look dignified on her... beanbag. But the casual appearance and gentle manner of the teacher soon made her stop. The expression on her face could be best described as pure befuddlement. She quietly noted the teacher's name (Elytra Freisch was pretty enough to remember, but she still wished she'd thought to get out her notepad), before it clicked that she was supposed to talk now.

Inevitable.

I know, just...

Weak.

She took a breath, letting the others start off in a vague attempt to gather her composure. It barely worked. At least it was better than being specifically called out and falling completely mute. With her hands squeezing together in her lap, she seemed much more focused on that than looking up at them—but she made an effort to put some volume into her voice at least, even if it immediately dropped back down into a hesitant whisper seconds after.

Oh. Plus raised her hand. She remembered that. The more rough squeezing of her shoulder reminded her of that. She fought the urge to give the thing a simmering glare, and instead focused on working out her introduction.

“M-My um... m-my name's Lucy. Lucy Livingston. Or um... or Inkwell, depending on...” she trailed off, giving a sudden wary and wide-eyed look at the teacher as she mentioned this before very consciously flicking her eyes back down towards her lap. “I um... h-have ink powers, and I...”

...Nope. It was gone. She had the strong urge to whack herself in the head with something. Or whack her head into something. Repeatedly. It wouldn't shake the words out, though—if anything it'd cause more trouble. So in an effort to move the attention away from her quicker, she let a few strips of ink peel away from the sleeve of her hoodie and congeal into the palm of her hand. The singular mass swirled around, before elongating its shape—beginning to dance between her fingers in a slaloming pattern with admittedly incredible speed and precision.

But she cut the demonstration short, letting the ink return to its place in her arm and falling silent again. A hint of red was starting to creep up her neck and into her face. The most damning thing about her complexion was her inability to hide a blush with it. Even with her hood still up.

Oh. It was still up. Was that bad now?

In case it was, she gently tugged it down. Naturally her hair was all over the place as a result. She grimaced, and tried to smooth it out a little.

Well it didn't help her confidence any, but she felt a little more polite at the very least.

"I... good morning...Ms...Dynami." Ortrun stared a bit the mover her gaze to the walls. A grey giant of a woman with sharp everything. Who asked me to call her 'Ellie' but...hn. "Ms. Ellie." She corrected, while putting her instrument away and opening a notebook. And I overdressed. Great, I probably look all stuffy. She couldn't take the jacket off though. If she lost it or it got stained, who knew how long it would be before she or her parents could scrape together fabric?
"He's a human what?" Ortrun stumbled on her introduction before even starting. "I mean right you asked about me and..." How is here if he did anything and a nuke went off? How is he here and we're all alive when he's not in a containment pod? If he ever leaks, I don't have a Geiger Counter... She shuffled.
That was before someone proudly announced she was going to start burning down zoos. "I..." she shook her head. It was probably hyperbole. Every class started with this. She had a script. Get it together. In a minute. She did not say anything through a long stretch of silence in case she interrupted someone.
"I am named Ortrun Oda Oelberg. I have no hero name yet. I do not know where to start or if it is appropriate. I can... get my blood back when I cut myself without getting sick. I am fairy certain based on ..." They probably don't care. "...some studies that I can maintain my health even when exposed to alot of...germs. I think I can adapt to high altitude environments quickly enough. I never had to wear an oxygen mask when flying high up." I am babbling about things any Andean or Tibetan local can do...
"Sorry. More to the point, I am biochemical engineer..." And 16. A ghost of a proud smile started to form before she remembered that she was far from Jena U and she was 16 and telling what sounded like a wild story. "...in training but I have experience from an apprenticeship and can help with the stresses that powers might put on the body. I think. If they do that. Otherwise, I'll make myself helpful."
There was more but she had trouble saying them briefly, so it ended there. And it did not matter. She did not meet anyone's eyes. I really have to work on belonging here.

Milos drummed his fingers against the desk he was sitting at for a moment and considered exactly how much he should say in this sort of situation. It would probably be better to just lead with the absolute truth. "My name is Milos, I have an expiration date that will tap me out by thirty years of age due to a rare genetic flaw in my biology." he paused for a moment and then smiled. "So by the time I'm thirty I'll have brought the world into a new age of hope and peace. That being said feel free to drop out of the class or just slack off and don't do anything, I don't consider it necessary for side characters to eat up a lot of screen time."

With that out of the way he decided to give them a quick run down on his abilities. "I can absorb negative energy out of the air, so the worse the situation is the better I will be. I can convert that negative energy into psychic force allowing me to do any number of things."

Be better, because what is the harm in trying?

Introductions - Iona

As their teacher made her appearance, Iona's chi receded, far more interested in those of the others. Most were ordinary, but a few were...irregular. Sue's was animalistic, predictably, though far stronger than any beast. Lucy's pulsed and rippled as if it were being turned in on itself every so often, strange even for a psychic. Milos' was filled with negativity, which matched up with his description of his power. And the wolf-like humanoid who didn't introduce himself seemed mystical by nature.

All in all, it was certainly an interesting bunch she would get to know.

Eventually it was her turn to introduce herself, lifting herself to her feet with the help of her cane, a warm smile on her face as she surveyed over the room.

"Well, I'm Iona Bassano, also known as Flow. I'm originally from Italy until my family escaped to America after villains attacked, and I've learnt several martial arts and the power of chi in order to be a hero to ensure that sort of thing never happens I'm looking forward to working with you all. Oh, and I'm also completely blind, so do forgive me if I don't quite notice some obvious things."

With that, she sank back into her chair, making mental notes for later about the class and their spiritual presences.

As the students introduced themselves in turn, Ellie took stock of each. The smile never left her face, though her gaze did linger on some more than others.

    Student Psychoanalysis

Sue and Ryan almost reminded Ellie of herself and Mikael, though Mikael was more an outdoorsman than a sportsman. In any case, they both fundamentally needed to focus on control, albeit in different ways.

Ortrun and Lucy were both shy, but for different reasons. Dexter would probably snatch the little scientist up as an apprentice as soon as he could. He was good at explaining things logically, which was something Ortrun would respond well to.

Lucy, on the other hand, wasn't anxious in the same way; where Ortrun babbled her nervousness outward, Lucy retreated into herself. Ellie resisted the urge to hug the poor little ink girl, instead making a mental note to encourage her to be more outgoing. But not too pushy. Lucy needed to come out of her shell naturally.

Locky, Skye, Iona, and Inusuke seemed much more well adjusted than the rest. Barring Inusuke's mouth gag, but Aelrys could probably fashion him a seal that didn't require his mouth to be shut.

Locky was doing remarkably well for someone without a name (though Ellie would rectify that as soon as she could), and Iona didn't seem bothered by her blindness. That was good. Ellie would make sure they maintained that confidence.

Skye was hard to read (likely because he was never surprised by anything) but he was by all accounts a good man. Inusuke as well, and Ellie felt a pang of sympathy for him - demons had violent impulses as well, so she knew how hard it could be to fight against the worst parts of herself.

The last two, Miguel and Milos, were... interesting. Miguel, for all he came off as a 'bad boy', seemed to genuinely want to be a hero. Milos, on the other hand, did not. Milos earnestly believed he would not live past thirty. She'd have to explain to him that that was wrong - whatever was wrong with him, she was certain that Dexter (or, worst case, Aelrys) could find a way to fix it long before fifteen years have passed - which would hopefully make him reconsider his motivations.

Taking a deep breath, still smiling, Ellie clapped her hands. Throughout the introductions she'd given no indication of her internal thoughts, merely smiling and nodding at each student's turn.

"I'm so happy to meet all of you. I'm sure we'll have a wonderful time getting to know each other, and I hope to work with you all once you become full time heroes. Now let me tell you a little about myself." She grinned wider, and transformed.

With a flash of sparks, she grew to around eight feet in height, making the oversized beanbag she sat on look normal-sized in comparison. Fortunately, her clothes somehow grew with her. Her hair grew as well - it still fell down to her lower back, despite the change in height. Somehow her hairbands didn't break.

Her skin became bluish-gray scales, her nails elongated into claws, and her feet became like talons. Two wings sprouted from her shoulder blades, though they somehow folded up enough to fit behind her back. A single, unicorn-like horn sprouted from her head.

Ellie stretched out in her true form, as sparks danced along her horn. "As you can see, I'm a demon. A lightning demon, to be specific. I'm super strong, can fly, teleport, shoot electricity and stuff. I'm also chock full of demonic energy, which some of you might be able to feel."

That was punctuated by a quick glance at Iona, who would indeed sense a large amount of energy, electric and buzzing, coming from the demoness. Then it began to fade, as Ellie reverted herself to her human form. "Don't be intimidated though. I want you guys to think of me as your friend. You don't have to call me 'miss' or anything."

She gave Ortrun a quick smile. "Though, just for reference, it's Mrs Ellie. My husband Mikael works at this school too - he's a demon as well, tall blonde guy with red eyes like me - so feel free to say hi to him if you see him."

Ellie exhaled. "And I think that's introductions done. Your first class for today isn't for about another ten minutes, though, so we have time to talk or ask questions, if you've got any."

Skye nodded as Mrs. Ellie gave her explanation. Despite the fact that he'd seen how this day would play out, he couldn't help but tilt his head a little at "lightning demon". Were elemental demons a thing? Well, he wouldn't know—his father's training had largely been limited to dealing with members of Pandora, and pretty much everyone in Pandora—minus Mirrorskin—was human.

"I have a question," Skye said, barely remembering to raise his hand. "We all have such different powers. Are we going to learn in different classes?"

Ryan looked around, thinking about all the students who just went up and introduced themselves. Ortrun was pretty...odd in terms of her abilities, Lucy's shyness brought out Ryan's "protective big brother" instinct, Milos was kind of sad with his expiration date in mind...and something about Iona seemed kinda weirdly familiar in a sort of way...

With the introductions done, Ryan asked, "Uhh, what are our living quarters gonna be like here? Are we gonna have, like, places to hang out and do stuff on campus?"

Sue

Wowza. So this Ellie chick was some sort of eight-foot blue-skinned demon? That was... pretty damn sweet! She already liked her moments after meeting her, mostly because she actually seemed like her in a lot of ways. But now it turned out that not only was Sue not the only nonhuman in the building, her teacher was one too! It felt... comforting. That there was someone in this place that maybe wasn't so different from her

Sue raised her hand, though perhaps with slightly less enthusiasm than usual. "Uh, yeah. Quick question Teach. So, when you say you're a demon, does that mean you're not from around here either? Cause, well, I was kinda starting to think that I was only one here who wasn't some hairless ape. Not that I've got anything against 'em! Well, most of 'em. But sometimes it feels a bit... lonely. Bein' here without anyone else. I mean, there's everyone here, sure! But, uh, you know what I mean. Right?"

She shrugged her shoulders. By the Jade Emporer, this was awkward. If there any feeling she hated, it was awkward. "I guess what I'm trying to say is, did you feel the same way? When you first came over here? Or are there other demons and stuff here too?"

Lucy initially shrank back at Ellie's brief glance in her direction. She didn't meet eyes with her even afterward. The girl looked as if she'd done something unspeakably horrific—such was the expression of melancholy on her face. It was only when their teacher began to change that she finally looked up.

A warbling noise emanated from her hoodie, and the ink stored within seemed to splay out slowly and methodically. It was comparable to a warning growl of an animal, but it ceased extending outwards as Ellie began speaking again. Lucy's eyes had become sharp for a moment, but the ink didn't extend any further than a centimetre or two. Once the teacher had reverted to her former state, the melanokinetic reddened and let her ink slowly recede back into place.

Jumpy.

I know. I shouldn't be.

Could've hurt someone.

I know. I've got this.

Liar.

I'm in control.

“I-I um...” she swallowed, unsure if she'd even be allowed to speak after that. She felt obligated to though, so she made herself once she was certain there was free space for her words. “Wh-what kind of classes do you teach, Ms– um, Mrs. Ellie? Not if it's... um, n-not if we're not supposed to know yet...”

Thin ice.

No. She's nice.

"Sorry. Mrs. Ellie," Ortrun corrected with a nod. Sure she said, think of her as a friend, but Ortrun was not one to know when people actually meant that. The last time she called a so-called-colleague by first name he gave her a dressing down in front of that whole conference.
But she did not need to write that down. She took notes for observations like that show. The teacher precisely controlled a bio-electrical discharge and a massive change in phenotype. If the horn is anything to go by, that change went down to bone structure. And did she say demon? That's an accepted common name? And to add, she said super strong, can fly, teleport, shoot electricity and unspecified 'stuff'. She certainly did not look like she flew on those wings alone. Then again, if her muscles did their work that well, she wouldn't need giant chest muscles. And Ortrun had not forgotten teleportation, but that filled several journals by itself. She reserved taking further notes on it.
She not seen this teleportation or read too much about it, but she wrote it down. Of course people were also saying that they used the power of 'chi' and 'negative energy from the air' so... Ortrun scribbled that down too. She had just said aloud the biochemical engineer thing. Thus, she had to actually use these observations and help at some point.
And she... Ortrun pivoted far too slowly towards the low growl from right next to her! "..." She blinked staring at the ink reaching out from Lucy's hoodie and averted her eyes very quickly when the ink retracted. Just be quiet and don't get excited and keep working... It was that or sit frozen and stare at the wall. Okay. Ink as demonstrated. That one solution. Except its not one solution. Inks were manufactured very differently. Can she work with water with food coloring? Or just the food coloring? Improvised coloring tools that are not commonly labeled as inks?

Ellie seemed slightly amused at Lucy's jumpiness. Truthfully, it wasn't an unusual reaction. Obviously the girl had never seen a demon before. Demons weren't rare, but they weren't common either, and demons and non-demons tended to avoid one another. Something Ellie hoped to change, starting with this class.

To that end she gave a reassuring smile and started answering questions, starting with Skye. "You'll all be given some one-on-one time with instructors who can best help you with your unique abilities. But you'll have classes together most of the time. Think of our homeroom class as your hero team - it's meant to get you used to working with others."

To Ryan, she smirked. "Well, Dexter - he's the guy who built this place - is super into tech stuff. So there's a bunch of VR rooms for training, fighting, meditating, and everything. The auditorium doubles as a movie theater, and there's a pool and big athletic field with training robots. Honestly, I don't know how Dex does it all. I'm pretty sure he doesn't sleep, so I'm starting to wonder if maybe he's a robot..."

She shook her head. "But anyway, your dorms are like mini apartments. You each have your own bedroom and bath, but there's a central, like, living area. Also the wi-fi is super good here, it's like a gazillion whatsits per second."

Then Sue spoke up, and Ellie's smile turned slightly sad. "Yeah. I'm not even from Earth, originally. Demons come from a place called the Abyss. It's... hell, basically. I mean, there's no dead people walking around, but it's not a nice place. I came to Earth to see what it was like... and realized that the Abyss was, well, evil. Cruel. In the Abyss, there's no real laws; if you're strong enough you can do whatever you want to those beneath you. That's why I became a hero. Because I didn't want the Earth to be the same way. And because I thought that, maybe, if the Earth became better, the Abyss could get better too."

She sighed. "I do understand how you feel, Sue. There are other demons, but they mostly keep to their own towns. So when I started hero-ing in human cities, I was alone. Until I met my Mimi, anyway. Mikael... he's half demon, half human. He grew up on Earth. So he was able to show me what it was like to be human, and helped me make human friends. So I wasn't alone."

Ellie finally turned to Lucy. "And to answer your question, Lucy, that's also why I'm here. To help others the way Mikael helped me. I teach people who aren't human how to fit in with humans. I also teach impulse control; as a demon, I have natural urges to fight, and lash out. But I was able to reign those in. So I help people who have the same problem."

She turned back to Sue, holding out her arms as if offering a hug. "You aren't alone, Sue. Always remember that. I'm here for you, whenever you need."

What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?

Milos considered any questions he might have, or rather what there was he would even have to say in this sort of situation. It seemed that no one was interested in the easy out he was giving them. At the very least it made him a bit more interested in the group. "Whats the policy on pets, for instance it might be insane to get a whale but could I have a number of rabbits that are equal to the majesty of a whale if I can compact them into a single area that could hold a whale by squashing together two points in space? A 'hole of infinite bunnies' so to speak?"

Ryan Brady - Class DY

Well, at least that leaves things open to some pretty interesting and fun applications. Whatever Dexter whipped up in his lab, sounded like it was pretty awesome. Ryan was still looking forward to trying to throw a party at whatever place they had to stay in. Maybe some kinda welcoming in party! Ryan wondered what Aaron was up to right now and—-

He then heard Milos' ah, questions and Ryan turned and looked at him, choking down a laugh at the guy's line of questions. "Dude, seriously, dude, you should listen to yourself! You sound like, kinda crazy asking about that!"

Skye nodded as Ellie answered their questions. When Milos offered his, he wasn't exactly surprised. None of his visions had Milos as the picture of stability.

Instead, he decided to help answer. "Even if the hole was the size of a whale, you could only fit so many bunnies," he said. "At some point, you'd have to either take them out or they'd be squished." He frowned. "No one likes squished bunnies."

Sue

You aren't alone.

Something in those three words hit a chord with Sue. Truth be told, she didn't dwell on this sort of thing too often. Didn't let it get to her. Why would she? The whole world was her oyster! There was so much to see and do and explore! So much she still wanted to do! And most of the time, it was enough to keep her mind off of the loneliness.

Most of the time.

She gripped Ellie tight, leaning into her arms with a big furry embrace. "Thanks, Teach. Means a lot."

And then Mister Edgelord had to go and ruin the mood. Much as she tried to have a tender moment, she couldn't help but take offence. Particularly that he was talking about enslaving innocent little critters.

And she wasn't gonna let that slide.

"Hey, dickhead!" She tapped his shoulder with her staff, making sure he knew she was addressing him specifically. "You wanna say that again? Don't think I heard that right."

Of course, she did hear him. Just fine. But she wanted to give him a chance to explain himself first.

Just whupping his ass without him knowing why wouldn't be fair, would it?

Gmph. She'd gone and frightened Ortrun with that display. She could tell. She flicked her eyes over at her before slumping a little and sighing through her nostrils, internally berating herself. Her ink thankfully stayed put.

...Wait. What did she say?

Impulse control? Lucy looked up at Ellie when she said that. The demoness immediately after turned her attention to Sue, and Lucy took that as a sign to mutely tear her gaze away from her again. Her ink rippled more subtly this time.

Impulse control.

...

I can kill you.

NO.

She felt a jolt as her ink tried to lurch out again, but with a barely-suppressed grunt she managed to force it back without it being too obvious. Her grip on the substance was tight, now. Unrelenting. It might've been felt—her psychic activity had increased in a constant effort to keep her medium still and obedient.

You just make things worse. Don't fight it.

Hypocrite. Who's talking right now?

...

Denier. You make things worse.

...I...

Complacent. Stubborn. No different.

At least I try.

Failure.

Shut up.

“...Um... O-Ortrun?” she tentatively vocalized, nudging the girl next to her in as gentle a fashion as she could manage. Her fingers clutched at the hem of her hood; resisting pulling it up again but taking comfort in its presence regardless. “I-I didn't mean to... to scare you, or anything. M'sorry. It just kinda... i-it does that sometimes...”

‘It.’

Know your place.

I hate you.

“I... I-I don't mean anything bad by it, though...” she mumbled rather unnecessarily as an addition; more to distract from her own inner thoughts than anything else. There was some kind of adversity starting between Sue and that other guy with the desk, but barring sending an almost reprimanding stare in their vague direction she didn't want to get involved. She'd probably just add to it more than anything.
