Fire Emblem: Adventures In Aldevrant Interest Check/Preliminary Sign-Up Thread

Hey you! Yeah you! Do you want a Fire Emblem RP with the following qualities?

-Primarily narrative-based RP - little to no stats to keep track of, players work together to decide things, a world you - yes you - help build

-an all-new world to discover and explore as an ongoing overall story progresses, that you, yes you, can help determine?

-wide variety of possible characters people can have due to how the lore of the world's been structured to allow for maximum player creativity and choices

-as people get more acquainted with one-another that players could have their own miniarcs while the primary "story" arc is happening, that the focus won't just be on that but their own personal journeys as well

Hello!! I'm Halis, one of the co-owners and the one who initially started gathering people to make this happen! Umbra's been a big help in getting everything set up, they're a great friend of mine!

For the sake of formalities, and to help give you an idea of how the template works, I'll be posting my own character's information here, and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask in this thread, we'll be keeping an eye on it! :)

Name: Glaci

Race: Manakete (Ice)

Starting Class: Manakete

Backstory: Hailing from a normally-seclusive sect of ice-elemental dragons, Glaci woke up one day from a long slumber to find that the rest of her friends and family had disappeared. With no real evidence to go on, and nothing else to do, she set out on her own into an unknown world, intent on finding new friends, though still wondering what's happened in the interim.

Name: Hadri Arath

Race (human, dragon, or beast): Raccoon Laguz

Starting Class (for combat interactions; any canon Fire Emblem class works): Lord

Backstory (subject to updates and retcons as the world is figured out, we'll work this out with you): Hadri is the survivor of the fallen noble house Arath, whose home compound was destroyed in a supply raid by the Empire. She is not the sole survivor, but her parents and two brothers certainly are dead. The servants and soldiers of the house were viciously routed, and without nobles above them paying or commanding them they had no reason to stick around. Hadri's fallen in with the company as she searches for the remains of her noble house, hoping to rebuild it. She carries a reminder of her lost home with her, a huge stone maul made from the cornerstone of her destroyed home's entryway.

• Name: Felekin Zefphir. 'Fel' for short.
• Race: Human.
• Starting Class: Thief. I guess weapon choice would be Knife/Daggers like the Tellius games. Or Fates, I guess. Failing that, Swords.
  • Backstory: Born to a commoner family that was never really content to stay in one place...and Fel probably didn't help in this regard as his curiosity to explore and affinity to sneak around usually ended up with him 'finding' trinkets or overhearing things. Still, it helped when times were tough and it wasn't like the stuck-up nobles would miss some of it when other people needed it more.

  • It was only a year ago, his family finally settled down in a small village a few days travel from Avestra. While it was peaceful, if rather uneventful, the desire to travel and see the world for himself was something he'd inherited from his parents. Eventually Fel gathered his things and left, promising to keep in touch when he could. As of late, with the rumors he's gathered that the Empire may be planning to expand, someone with skills of gathering information, sneaking around and if necessary, a bit of...'borrowing' of belongings will probably come in handy...

• Name: "Alessa"
• Race: Dragon-Branded Human (half-human, half-dragon laguz)
• Class: Mercenary (Main proficiencies in Swords and Reason (Dark magic))
• Backstory: Alessa gives very few details about her past history. Her particular style of swordsmanship marks her as trained by the Imperial Guard, and she alludes to, or at least has knowledge that would derive from, having been a member of the Imperial Court. Further, though she tries her best to not, she speaks with a subtle, but noticeable if one is paying attention, Avissian accent. The name she goes by is, self-admittedly, a pseudonym - though naming children after one of the most famous saints of the Church is far from unheard of, the Western - Imperial - branch of the church frowns upon such practices.

• Name: Bryn, the Verdant Boar
• Race: Human
• Starting Class: Brigand
• Backstory:
  • Raised in the Shairin Province by a family of brigands, connected not by blood but by circumstance, Bryn was taught the crude art of robbery at the age where most other children were learning how to read. Gifted with immense strength and constitution, Bryn quickly became a legend amongst the group for her unmatched ferocity in battle, earning her the name of the animal who's tusks she wears around her neck.
  • However, as the years passed, Bryn began to question herself, and whether there wasn't a better life for her than terrorising hapless travellers. After one too many robberies led to deaths she considered unjust, Bryn packed her satchel and hit the road, axe in hand and heart set on finding a new, more honourable life.

Name: Nyx Branwen

Race: Laguz (Raven)

Starting Class (for combat interactions): Mercenary (technically) She has a lot of proficencies that will make sense later

Backstory: Real Mysterious hours. Daughter of a member of the Forest of Sorrow's Laguz tribe. Got in fights as a child, loved mechanical things like clocks, is gay. Now a wandering mercenary, earning gold by doing whatever work she can get and then promptly wasting said gold at taverns and brothels. And ensuring her weapon is in good condition, of course.

• Name: Kokoro Watanabe

• Race: Human

• Starting Class: Mechanist

• Weapons:
  • Bishamon: A naginata named after the god of war. It is simply an ordinary naginata without any magical properties - albeit a finely crafted and ornate one. Bishamon was gifted to her by Kanemune upon her entering the military academy and so far almost never saw combat, instead mostly being used as ceremonial weapon

  • Karura: A bow named after a bird headed deity. Just as Bishamon, it was gifted to her by Kanemune, in this case when she entered his army. Unlike Bishamon, Karura often saw combat, indeed being the weapon that Kokoro uses most often.

• Backstory:
  • Kokoro was born near Zenikamezawa Castle - at least according to her parents' best guess, she was found by them at the side of a road

  • Her adoptive parents were bodyguards of Kanemune Yanagizawa, a minor noble of the area

  • Soon, Kanemune took personal responsibility for caring for her (he had quite a high opinion of her parents and saw it as his duty to help their children)

  • Thanks to Kanemune, Kokoro got into a military academy at a very young age

  • After finishing the academy, she got into the army of Kanemune as a mechanist

  • In a pitched battle against another warlord, she lost both legs

  • Rather than continuing to ride on her karakuri, she modified the mechanical beast to instead replace her lower body
    • She mostly walks on two legs when out of combat since coordinating all four legs needs quite a bit of her attention

    • In combat, for added mobility and speed, she tends to use her Tarvos-like form

  • Kanemune sent her to Aldevrant as part of a diplomatic mission where she now serves as the honor guard of Freiherr Roderick von Finsterwalde, a local noble

  • When Roderick wanted to become a mercenary, he was only allowed to do so by his advisors under the condition of taking at least one of his guards with him, both as bodyguard on the battlefield and as moral guardian

• Notes:
  • She has 1 older brother (not related to him by blood, he's the son of her adoptive parents)

  • She is loyal - maybe even to a fault - to Kanemune

• Proficiencies: Bow, Lance
• Weaknesses: Faith, Reason, Axe, Flying, Brawling
• Budding Talent: Armor

Name: Cyric

Race (human, dragon, or beast): Human

Weapons: Axe

Starting Class (for combat interactions; any canon Fire Emblem class works): Wyvern Rider

Backstory (subject to updates and retcons as the world is figured out, we'll work this out with you): Cyric is the second oldest son of the noble house of Ryvenholt, a loyal family with close ties to the king of their land, as occasionally the two families would intermarry to reinforce these ties. His house has often clashed with the Empire's army whenever they tried to force their way into the land they had claimed protectorship of.

When the current Emperor came to power they thought that they would have no need to worry about the Empire for a while, but when the expansion began once more they sent their son to join the mercenary group that had formed to foil the Empire's plans for the world.

Name: Adia

Race: Human

Starting Class: Claims herself to be a simple Apothecary, but has skill with a blade more in line with that of a Mercenary. She primarily uses bows, though. Has a somewhat hidden proficiency in Dark Magic/Reason, but she herself doesn't know this

Backstory (subject to updates and retcons as the world is figured out, we'll work this out with you):

About a year ago, Adia was found collapsed in the woods by a certain red-headed traveling saleswoman. Upon coming to, she realized she had no memory of her past save her name. Nothing of why she had an eyepatch and the vague feeling she should never take it off, nothing of why she had a sword (broken though it was) commonly used by the local shadowy cabal of assassins..

The saleswoman took care of Adia until she could get back on her feet, but at the end of it all said saleswoman wanted some compensation for all that wasted time. And so it was that Adia took up the time honored trade of selling people things they might not actually need.

Misc: Adia was advised to play up the whole "mysterious stranger" thing during sales. She does not want to do this, but people keep buying it for some reason.

Name: Matthew

Race (human, dragon, or beast): Human

Starting Class (for combat interactions; any canon Fire Emblem class works): Mage (custom class: Froster)

Weapons: Frostbite (a frost-spraying spell with decent might and high critical, Matthew's personal spell), Sheer Cold (an ancient piece of regalia in the form of a spell tome that contains the raw essence of Absolute Zero, which Matthew has resolved to only use in case of emergencies)

Backstory (subject to updates and retcons as the world is figured out, we'll work this out with you): Matthew hails from a faraway land known as the Selenian Empire, on the distant continent of Ohsci. There, he is the imperial prince, son of Empress Artemis. His closest companion that is not his female counterpart is his Imperial Guard, Evie the Pegasus Knight. He was sent to Aldevrant alongside his female counterpart Melina to practice exerting political power before becoming worthy of the Selenian throne by establishing a Selenian colony.

Name: Sigmund

Race (human, dragon, or beast): Dragon

Starting Class (for combat interactions; any canon Fire Emblem class works): Manakete

Backstory (subject to updates and retcons as the world is figured out, we'll work this out with you): Sigmund is a timid sort, prefers not to be noticed when he's not on the job. At least... when he's in his humanoid form. He's from a family of manaketes with more avian dragon forms, (possibly from interbreeding with bird beasts way back) and his dragon form has very... swan-like qualities. You now how swans are. He sticks with the mercenary band for protection and so his swan-dragon form has an excuse to let loose.

Name: Iris Levion

Race: Human

Starting Class: Lance Fighter

Proficiencies: Lance, Brawling
Weaknesses: Bow, Reason^* Budding Talent, Flying

Backstory: Iris was the second child of Ursula and Daniel Levion, a merchant couple from the western reaches of the Avestran Province. After the untimely deaths of her parents, she was forced into a life of mercenary work alongside her elder brother Uriel. The two had been getting by smoothly enough, until Uriel vanished with only scant traces of what might have become of him. Now, Iris travels the land of Aldevrant by herself, trying to make a name for herself and track down her missing brother.

Character: Kim No-Gae

Race: Human

Class: Pegasus Knight.

Starting weapon: bow and staff

Backstory:

No-Gae was born in a poor family in the hermit Kingdom of Noryang. To escape poverty, she trained hard in the archery and pegasus riding as well as studied days and nights in religious text. When she turned 18, she took the examination exam and barely passed. However, thanks to her strong sense of ethics and hard work she caught the attention of Princess Song Yeona. The Kingdom of Noryang is an isolationist nation who focused on maintaining morals and religion. As a result, the nation is ignorant to the threats posed by the empire. Princess Yeona sensed the threat looming over the nation, so she secretly sent No-Gae to the empire to investigate.

Name: “Diana”, actually Daniel

Race: Human

Starting class: Pegasus knight

Backstory: Son of a Knight and a wyvern rider, ever since he was a little boy Daniel Has dreamed of becoming a soldier like his parents, but they were afraid that their child may never be able to follow on their footsteps, since he seemed to be too weak and shy to ever be useful in the battlefield but they didn’t have the heart to crush his dreams and tell him this and so still tried to support him on his goal.

One morning while he was collecting water from a nearby river he discover an injured and malnourished Pegasus of a peculiar pink color, he took pity on the creature and took her to his home to take care of her, While he was treating her they become extremely closed to each other and ended up becoming best friends, he decided to name her Rose based on her unique fur.

After the Pegasus recover he took the decision of becoming a Pegasus knight, until his parents explained to him that the empire only accepts women for that position, unwilling and unable to become any other kind of soldier Daniel decided to change his identity and pretend to be a woman, which wasn’t pretty hard since he already had an androgynous appearance, and change his name to Diana, and next to his Pegasus Rose he manages to enter the army, complete their training and become a real soldier.

Daniel or “Diana” as he called himself had then accomplished his dream but ended up abandon it after he became disillusioned with the expansion plans of the empire that would end up oppressing other lands, and so he dropped out from the army and become a mercenary.

He continues to fake his gender and name because most people still don’t take him seriously as a male Pegasus knight and because he preferred how he was treated as a woman that as a man.

Sorta interested in this RP. I'm thinking about making a traveling healer on his 25-30s (who, since the RP is about a ragtag band of mercs, has joined with the group for some reason) who also knows how to use light magic.
