Can a canon character who becomes victimized in a fan work be considered an Asshole Victim even if the fan work doesn't give them the Ron the Death Eater treatment? For example, Diamond Tiara and Gilda are listed under Asshole Victim on the Cupcakes page, and while they were certainly unpleasant characters in canon at the time of the fic's writing (they both reformed later on), I don't know if the fic's author actually intended for the readers to see their deaths as deserved (which always has to be the case for Asshole Victims; what the audience actually feels about the character is irrelevant) since the fic focuses more on Rainbow Dash being tortured and killed and DT and Gilda's deaths are only mentioned in passing. Also, on the page for How to Break a Family, D.W. is listed as an aversion of AV since Arthur is actively trying to save her after she's kidnapped in that fic, but she is still an unlikable character to many people (and for good reason; I won't put all the details here, but she is quite a horrible little girl in the original show). Likewise I'm wondering if D.W. counts in the the fan webcomic AGENCY, since like How to Break a Family, it involves her being kidnapped and she is quite a jerkish character in her origin show, and while AGENCY also has characters trying to save her, unlike in HTBAF said characters are merely investigators looking into the kidnapping, who don't know D.W. in person and thus have no personal reasons to want to save (or not save) D.W.

On a semi-hiatus from this site due to being busy with other things (may contribute here and there, but nothing major).
