After putting it off for years, I'm finally watching season 1 of Arrow.
Didn't know they re-cast Sarah. Man, that was unexpected.
And since I saw a lot of this back when they re-capped it at the beginning of the last season, it's interesting to go back and see what's different.

I technically didn't.
I caught like one or two episodes of Seasons 1 and 2, but it was The Flash that brought me into the series. So yeah, I came into Arrow during Season 3. Oddly enough, I was pretty ok with it. I was really only watching it as a way to keep track of what was happening since the two shows were connected and all that.

Yeah. This is before they confirmed all the crazy things there are in the world.
Season 2 started opening the door with Mirakuru, and Barry getting Lightninged. Season 3 would dip further into that with the pit, and four revealed it was nuttier than anyone thought when we found out Ollie knew about Magic.

Yeah, and Season 4 was the point were it became "Too much", hence Season 5 being grounded again.

....Season 5 brought Supergirl into their universe and revealed the existence of Aliens via the Dominator invasion.

Crossovers are one thing, but the Season's storyline itself didn't really have any major supernatural elements to it^^

Season 4 was too much too soon. It would have been okay as a plot of the final or second last season but it's way too much for what was only the shows second half. The escalation hit is peak their.

I'd say the problem was that (much as I love Damien Darhk) they introduced him too early in the season and made him too overpowered compared to Team Arrow.
Way too many fight scenes where Oliver can't do squat to hurt Damien, and where Damien for some reason doesn't kill Oliver with a wave of his hand, rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat.

I always felt damien worked better at legends where hes fighting actually powered guys who can keep up with him to not make it akward like his fights with oliver were

I kinda agree with that. It happens sometimes. A character originates in one part of a franchise, but becomes better know for their appearances in another part.
Meanwhile, I caught another episode of Arrow season 1 (I'm only about two or three eps in).
Man, I bet every single person who was there when Ollie pretended to be a drunk ass at the christening of the new building in his dad's name yelled OH YOU LYING MOTHER....!' when Season 7 (or was it Season 8?) actually finally revealed him as the Green Hoodarrow.
And now I'm reminded that a lot of people didn't know he was the Hood, Arrow, and Green Arrow until that moment.

Did people think the hood, the arrow and green arrow were the same guy. I thought their was a belief they were different dudes.

No they did think they were different.
Remember that in universe, Roy took the fall for Ollie being the Hood-arrow.
I think people only learned they were all Oliver when he finally got exposed at the end of Season...6 I believe.
Like, I'm pretty sure he ultimately confessed to all three roles as part of his deal to save everyone else.

I'm unsure what sort of longevity Legends will have. I get the sense that it doesn't do as well as the other Arrowverse shows (though it's hard to judge with the CW, since they seem more interested in streaming viewership than Nielsen ratings). On the other hand, because it has no singular lead character, and makes heavy use of Revolving Door Casting, there's no actor who's indispensable to the series. So if certain actors want to quit, or start asking for more money than the show can afford, the show can keep chugging along.
