Apparently this is going to be an actual short film, releasing on June 3rd.

For those discussing whether Soldier Boy bashing somebody to death with a shield is a reference to TFATW, I think that it clearly is not. It is just the most obvious way to show a Captain America expy is evil.

That's pretty much identical in idea to the scene where Homelander eye-beams an entire crowd of protesters. You take a hero's most famous symbol, and you turn it upside down. I'm pretty sure many people would get the same idea on how to do it, especially for characters with a very recognizable symbol of heroism - that would also work with Thor's hammer or Wonder Woman's lasso.

Ah. That's my fault for not watching the trailer. Not every little thing this show does is some pointed Take That! at Marvel.

Now I’m imagining the Lasso of Truth being used as a noose to hang someone, that’s pretty dark.

That's how Wonder Woman killed Steve Trevor in Flashpoint.

I also believe Superwoman her evil Earth-3 counterpart has used it like that too.

Went to see Everything Everywhere All at Once today and one of the trailers was for Dawn of the Seven. It was glorious.

So after watching the Death Battle episode that had Omni-Man vs Homelander, I'm curious — how would Omni-Man and the Boys react to each other?

Omni-Man at the start of Invincible? He'd wipe the Boys out the second they reared their heads. He's nothing like Homelander. Guy had one weak spot and that was Mark. Otherwise he was a No-Nonsense Nemesis, right?

Other than that, I didn't follow the comics all the way to the end, so I'm not 100% sure how his character evolved past that so Idunno.

That's an interesting question.

I assume the boys (especially Butcher) would regard him the way they see all heroes: another chump who turns out to be a total Paper Tiger, but since Omniman would be Homelander but even worse (since he's can actually fight), they wouldn't be able to just steamroll him the way they did most other heroes (barring Homelander himself, who in that universe was just too powerful to take on head on for them).

Omniman likely wouldn't see them as a threat unless they did something to Debbie or tried to hurt Mark.

Ooof. I don't even want to think about what Butcher would do to Mark. He'd be a complete anomaly in the world of the boys: someone who actually wants to be a hero and legitimately tries. But we know Butcher would try and kill him just like he would any Supe, because Comics Butcher is never confronted with any evidence that he's wrong to want to kill them all.

In fairness its not like Burcher could actually hurt Mark.

The key thing with The Boys is that yeah they are only successful as they are because most Supes are self-important vapid morons.

Meanwhile actually on the ball Supes like Mark and Eve would be legitimate trouble because they aren't dumbasses.

I know it would devolve into a fight pretty quickly but I would love to see the banter between Butcher and Rex.

I appreciate that Soldier Boy is telling us to say no to drugs.

For all the money Vought poured into Homelander you’d think they would have given him some actual training on how to act in a crisis situation.

You can have a late-stage capitalist corporation, or you can have ethics, but you can't have both. Vought made their pick long before Homelander was born.

What I found particularly horrifying is that Stillwell who is supposed to be his handler and pseudo-parent was groping him then as noted on the fridge horror section.

Homelander never had a chance at all. He was screwed the moment he was born.

Thank Amazon for showing us where Homelander's Oedipal Complex originated.

Gotta say, I'm glad that Hughie found out the truth about Neuman in the first episode instead of dragging the storyline throughout the season.

3 episodes in and I'm really enjoying this season. Homelander's descent into full mania is really well done and plotlines are moving at a fair pace so far and not spinning wheels unnecessarily.

Surprisingly for all the pre show hype there's a distinct lack of Soldier Boy in person but that might well change as things go.

Still not sure yet if Supersonic is legitimately The Atoner who wants to help Starlight or just playing an angle though.

Plus yet again even as he final seems to be turning things around, The Deep is still relentlessly shit upon, which makes me happy.

Im really liking this first half. Homelander has learned self-love in the worst way possible. That performance is genuinelt chilling, seeing him go full-on mask off.

Also I appreciate the show's willingness to keep ramping up the gross stuff.

A-Train's arc has a few more sympathetic wrinkles to it but he's still just as image focused as ever.

The Deep stuff is great but the writers should take great care to not make him too sympathetic.

Fun thing about that Dawn of the 7 trailer, people in the comments are roleplaying as if they are actually in the setting of The Boys.

Only two episodes in, but one part of episode one made me say some words I never thought I'd have to say:

Please....for the love of god go up the butt.

I didn't get what I wanted, and it still turned out worse than I was expecting.

The ending of episode 2....might be a case of Reality Subtext.

I'm calling it now, Supersonic is Soldier Boy, and whoever kidnapped him de-aged his ass.
