Hm... I like the Cuphead Show, but I dunno if it beats Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for best adaptation.
I also quite liked Uncharted, but I've never really played the games and I hear it was disliked by game purists.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. As someone who saw Chip Cheezum's Let's Plays for Uncharted 1-3, I gleaned some chunks of the Uncharted movie and as much as I loathe its producer Avi Arad, it's hardly the worst adaptation for Uncharted to have.
If I had to take a guess, Uncharted players' problems might have stemmed from having the movie set as an origin story, Sully not getting his mustache until the very end, and having Tom Holland as a young Nathan Drake when a proper Uncharted movie should've had someone closer to Nate's profile in the games even though Holland is essentially Sony's current golden goose.
But all that said? Sonic 2 is pretty much what I was needing in a Sonic movie big time. It's earned being Best Adaptation.
Netflix decided to drop a full episode, from the Part 3 batch, on their YouTube page:
Without Mugman, Cuphead doesn't know what to do with himself. Can he strike a deal with the Devil to save his beloved brother and bring him home?
All episodes are now streaming, only on Netflix
Wait, Season 3 is also out on Netflix too?
Edit: Ah, okay. New episodes drop tomorrow.
Oh, man. Mugman's complete confidence that when Cuphead dies he's totally going to hell made me legit laugh out loud.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Netflix is weird as junk. Sometimes shows release as fast as multiple seasons in a single year, other times it's like multiple years between seasons
and the worst part is they don't even advertise it!
New theme music also a boxFun season, including two Christmas episodes, and a three episode arc to close it out.
The whole season ends at the beginning of the game. The final bars of the show's score are even a snippet of King Dice's game theme.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. Why wouldn't it? It's at the perfect stopping point.
The show does work as prequel to the game.

I assure you, I'm a completely trustworthy person. The Cuphead Show! is getting it's own art book:

I wonder what the future of the franchise is going to be, if anything.
People would snap up a new Cuphead game, but the intricacy of the game’s animation and how long it takes to make has always been in the way of that a bit. And who knows if we’ll be getting another animated project if the rest of the franchise isn’t going anywhere.
Is the comic still running, at least?
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I think I remember MDHR saying there's not planning on making a sequel?
Oh, yeah. They knew exactly what they had with this number.
I guess it's a rule that King Dice has the best vocal song.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I kinda like the whole show, especially "The Devil and Ms. Chalice", but man! The Devil torturing Ms. Chalice with Rapid Aging was scary, like something straight out of an Indiana Jones movie!

I'm now confused on how the show is even canon to the games.
Presumably approximately in the same way a licensed game from the 80s or 90s was to its original property, but with the relationship inverted.
That is, "here's some recognizable characters, here's a game, now play the game that features recognizable characters but doesn't really have much plot to speak of beyond taking place in a recognizable setting", except in this case, it's "here's a show featuring recognizable characters from a game, and while its plot has very little to do with the plot of the game, the setting is recognizable. Go watch it."
I already watched the show since it's premiere last February.
(I don't think the above "Go watch it" was aimed at you specifically, but rather to the general audience the show is marketed for. Note that it's still in quotation marks.)
"A Very Devil Christmas" was nominated for Best Storyboarding - TV/Media at the 50th annual Annie Awards! Sweet!

Not sure about this, but it seems that "The Art of The Cuphead Show!" book has been silently canceled by Dark Horse.
Amazon listed it as unavailable and under a date of January 2, 2079. The book was suppose to release June 27, 2023, but it's no longer up for preorder.
It be ashamed if it was cancelled. If anyone has any information, I hope to hear about it.
It makes me worry about the future of this franchise.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!I thought MDHR was done with the franchise for now.

Move over, Emmy Awards!
The Cuphead Show is making pop culture history as one of the first nominees in The Game Awards' newest category: Best Adaptation!
Can it hold a candle to the likes of Arcane: League of Legends, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Uncharted?
