In the center of reality, there is a computer. A massive interconnection of wires, circuits, and servers, twice as hot as any star and ten times as big. The ones that made it - the ones that know it exists at all - are long gone. Yet it still runs, unfaltering in its mission. It is, as it always had, gathering information. Recording everything in all existences.

the archive is oSlOd, pAoWwFeUrLfLuYl

It monitors everything outside of itself, every cluster of planets down to every individual insect, and keeps all of that information within itself. A library of immense scale, eternally running, universes on universes stored in its code. Perhaps it's for some great plan. It might be done to preserve the multiverse should it ever end. It could even just be for a greater being's entertainment. No one could possibly know, not even this Archive itself.

does it really wJaUtScTh? is it more than a lSiIbMrPaLrEy?

With its creators no longer there to maintain it, this computer continues on, alone in the void between worlds.

what would happen if it was SoHfUfT?

And after its unfathomable eons working perfectly, something has gone very, very wrong.

Welcome, all, to the world of Glitched Matrix!

Taking cues from roleplays such as TheMassiveMultiFandomRPG and CityOfLostCharacters, this roleplay takes place within The Archive, an enormous and all-powerful super computer tasked with keeping records of everything in the multiverse. Different from other crossover roleplays (for a given value of "different"), you don't play as the flesh and blood people you sign up as, but rather a string of 1s and 0s representing your chosen character. Having been granted sentience by a sudden rogue virus, you will be tasked with enduring the The Archive's deteriorating databases, as well as making sure The Archive is able to safely reboot itself, as it sure as hell won't admit how dire the situation is by itself.

The majority of the action will take place in a secluded piece of code that The Archive has spirited all of its affected data (read, all you guys that can actually think for yourselves now), the patchwork town-like hub of Haven. As it's definitely safe from being infected by the virus, you will have nothing to worry about as The Archive deals with more pressing matters and leaves you to your own devices. Trust me!

Now, in its efforts to fix itself up, The Archive will need to run some Tests to make sure its systems are running smoothly. These Tests will be of any nature, and will be performed within Haven, as it's the only place that the virus definitely can't reach. These Tests will make up the 'chapters' of the roleplay, with non-Test breaks to allow the P Cs to explore Haven and just sort of hang out. And don't worry, since these Tests are in Haven, there's no chance for them to get bugged and become much harder to accomplish. Don't worry about it!

There is a side-effect of the virus, aside from the P Cs awareness of themselves and newly gained free will, in that they will Glitch from time to time. Simply put, Glitches happen each time Haven is changed (such as when a Test is loaded or unloaded), affecting random bits of data and generally messing things up. When a "transition" occurs, each PC will have a chance to be Glitched for the following chapter - the exact nature of the Glitch is decided by the players, be it a change of personality, the gaining or loss of something once valuable to them, or simply having their arms detach from their bodies and float aimlessly around. Have fun with it!

    TO SUMMARIZE
  • The roleplay takes place within the code of The Archive, a massive supercomputer between worlds that holds information about said worlds in itself. A mysterious virus has corrupted The Archive, causing structural collapse of its data.
  • The P Cs are not their actual selves, but the data versions of their originals within The Archive, given sentience by the virus. They will be placed into a "totally protected" town called Haven as a form of quarantine, both for itself and the rest of the computer.
  • The Archive will run certain Tests within Haven to ascertain its functions. It's up to the P Cs to actually do the Tests, and make sure they go over well despite any possible mishap.
  • Glitches will crop up with each new chapter, affecting a random set of P Cs every time and causing them to experience oddities; flipping personality traits, losing things, or other general weirdness. The actual effect of the Glitch is up to you, so long as it isn't something incredibly minor.
  • Each player is allowed two characters to play as, and any set of characters that are considered a "duo" (as in, they either can't function or function best with one another) counts for one slot. Try to keep characters of a relative average size - nothing too huge or too small by default (powers that change size are fine) - and have your characters as Super Weight 3 or lower, nerfed if needed. Otherwise, sign up for whoever you like!

As always, both the Forum Rules and Roleplay Rules apply, and I hope you all have a great day!
