I was reading Characters.Ben 10 Omnitrix Aliens and while reading about Alien X, he's certainly one of the more unique examples of Split Personality, being a three-sided example, and being less about good vs evil.

This isn't about Ben 10, but the general concept of Justified Trope in a Shared Universe superhero setting.

When could Split Personality be a Story-Breaker Power in a context that's more like a Marvel or DC Comics setting (as compared to something like Ben 10), and in that Marvel or DC setting, when could it be a Justified Trope for a character? Maybe a Jerkass Woobie.

I don't think the new Earl of Lemongrab (the third version) counts, even though he has elements of his predecessors in from when Princess Bubblegum sewed him back up to create the new Lemongrab after the old one was killed in Lemonhope, Part 2 in Adventure Time. Isn't that more of a Legacy Character?

A lot of the time, I've seen Literal Split Personality characters used in some more recent works, like the James Mc Avoy film Split.

I've been reading that page and wondering about whether there'd be any examples of it (other than Ben 10) being a major Story-Breaker Power.

I do have a character who has Split Personality that I will be using in the Character Adventure thread in the Writer's Block forum here, but this isn't for that discussion - this is more questions about the trope itself.
