This seems like it should be YMMV. It's not invoked by the Trope Namer nor in many of these examples, it's an Audience Reaction (although it's not listed in that index but rather the sub-index Unexpected Reactions to This Index...?), and not everyone will think that the author made up a certain element, just like how not everyone will think that all animation is made by Disney or their peers.
I kind of want to change to name as well, since not everyone will get the reference, but I imagine that the increased amount of work to change the wicks, combined with the inbounds and its creation in 2008, may lead to people wanting to grandfather in this name.
