MCU Hope and comics Nadia are very different characters despite their names. Hope is an adult, Nadia is a teen. Hope is a businesswoman, Nadia is an inventor/investor. Hope was raised comfortably in San Francisco, Nadia was raised in the Red Room and trained as a spy. Hope is dry and serious, Nadia is chipper and amazed by everything. So I don’t think they’d overshadow each other much.

Oh, I know they are sufficiently different, I'm just saying it would be hard to introduce another daughter of Hank Pym's.
Gonna respond on the MCU thread.
@theindiantroper: And yet, no matter how many times it is said, people still seem to be, by their own admission, "eye-rolling" at stuff like Black Panther (a much more deserving film than Braveheart, for example, since it's an actually excellently made film with strong themes) being nominated and having a possibly of winning. Funny thing, isn't?
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Well, a lot of people feel that it wasn't the best comic book movie of the year. That is kind of the main problem. It also feels as if the academy doesn't really mean it considering that it snubbed it in so many other categories.
I am legitimately infuriated by people claiming Infinity War was better than Black Panther. Yes, tastes vary, but looking at story cohesion, dialogue, editing, acting, costuming, and music, BP annihilates IW.
I mean its kinda obvious why BP was nominated.
Sure it’s not the only reason but it certainly is a big reason.
Like Wonder Woman & Logan got similar acclaim yet they were never nominated.

Cause the Academy recognized a fantastic movie for once, and Marvel pushed for deserved recognition?
Not sure which person you’re replying to.

You
Where there's life, there's hope.Anyway...I’m calling Vice to win Best Picture. Political statement, Christian Bale acting his heart out, pun not intended, and the film’s disdain for popcorn movies and the popcorn viewing audience seem to make it a favorite in my book.
As I said, tastes vary. Whether one enjoyed IW or BP more is subjective.
The categories I listed are somewhat more objective. Like, come on, how many people were rocking out to the IW score or soundtrack? How unique or distinctive was it? The Black Panther score and soundtrack were very distinctive, suited the film well, and were very popular.
You can make similar strong arguments for the acting and editing in BP, as well as the story and themes.
Ew, I hope you’re wrong. Reviews did not sound good, and I’m sick of biopic wins.

As for who is going to win Best Picture — I have zero faith in the Academy, so I'm going with Green Book. They love to choose the anti-racism picture, no matter what (see: Crash).
My bet is actually Roma.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."The “Black Panther was only nominated to appease the social justice crowd” argument always strikes me as disingenuous considering last year we had Academy voters straight up admitting they didn’t care for Get Out “because I voted for Moonlight last year.” This year they’d say “we already nominated Green Book.”
It’s more likely that they ensured its inclusion due to its blockbuster popularity like their Best Picture nominations for Inception and Up, but nobody argues that Up’s nomination was undeserved just because there was an ulterior motive for the ceremony’s ratings.

story cohesion - Eh, yeah, as I pointed out multiple times, Black Panther's script needed at least one additional rewrite. It is oddly paced and kind of clunky overall.
dialogue - I fail to see how the dialogue in BP is better than the one in Infinity war...especially since I don't remember a single line from Black Panther. But I can remember multiple ones from Infinity war.
editing - Is at parts kind of messy in Black Panther. Infinity war on the other hand did a great job to switch between the different teams in a way which felt organic while also allowing the audience to orient itself immediately.
acting - maybe. Black Panther has an A plus cast, but so has infinity war. Hell, those movies share a lot of actors anyway.
costuming - yep, that's an area in which Black Panther shines.
Music - hard to compare since Black Panther could create its own theme, while Infinity War was more bound to the Avengers theme.
And, btw, a lot of people think that Into the Spider-verse was the best comic book movie of last year. I don't agree, I am still with Infinity War on this, but this illustrates the "problem" so to speak.
Count me in as betting on Roma.

My only concern with Roma is it being a Netflix film. The academy does not think much of those last I checked.
BP and IW both had great lines in it.
Yeah, I'm assuming a lot of the Academy members are going to skip Roma due to Netflix.

How many people remember "Hi auntie" as opposed to "why is Gamora?"

Where there's life, there's hope.An old meme yes but it still was an actual line of dialogue from the film itself.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Yes, but it did not invent the meme. The meme was literally shoed in for Totally Radical meme point
