ITT: We Are All Pirates' Revenge

Jane shrugs. "Eh, I was expendable anyway. I was meaning to join a new crew regardless."

"Oh, um... If we're all going to be working together.. I should probably tell you my name."

She fidgets.

"... It's Parada."

He looks around at the people around him. He is running short on money, so maybe he can join them? He might find the person he's looking for eventually if he looks hard enough... but, would they even want some random kid around? Sure, there's that other girl (whose name he didn't quite catch), but she's already dead set on getting on a ship and away from here. What to do...

Within the tavern, two people were sitting together and listening in to bits and pieces of the conversation.

"That certainly sounds interesting...", the tan-skinned, pinkish-haired woman clad in botched, violet armor murmured to her companion, "I don't even know if they'll want to hire a mercenary for this, but I'm thinking I should go join that merry band."

"For goodness sake, Nephenee...", the slouching black-haired man in dark, yellow-rimmed clothes sighed, "You have a good heart and sense of adventure, but our mercenary band is not a charity organization. At this ra-"

"If I'm remembering things right, there's no shortage of mercenary work for us, right?", Nephenee was quick to retort, "And I could find some side jobs in my field on the journey anyway. And this "Legendary Egg" could fix a whole lotta the problems we got. What downsides can outweigh that, Naoki?"

Naoki looked ready to respond, but he simply sighed and hung his head.

"Whatever. You are impossible to convince otherwise once your mind is set", he breathed out, "I guess the apple didn't fall far from the tree."

Nephenee smirked and called out to the others forming a crew, "Hoy! You lot need a warrior in your ranks?"

Well, we got gun girl, if she counts. But, hey, we could always use an extra warrior lying about!

"Yes, we could always use more people on our crew," Melvin says, quickly shooting a glance at Jane.

The chest wheeled his way to the others.

Klamptrap:   Say, do you folks happen to know what year is it? Last thing I remember my ship sank and I went into a hibernation state before being woken up by that lout of a pirate captain that tried to take me treasure!   

"The year is 1685. Do with that knowledge what you will."

"So... we're all on board with this voyage?"

"If you'll have me.."

Parada walks over to Melvin.

Wait, are they leaving? Jeez, what should he do? He can’t really get anything by staying here… Alright. It’s worth a shot! … maybe. “Excuse me… can I join, too? I, um… don’t really have a place to stay right now…” Would that be enough? “I-I’ll do what I can to help…!”

"Yeah, I can go for a new adventure", said Nephenee before looking to Naoki, "Can I trust you to maintain the rest of the guys while I'm out?"

"You should know the answer without a doubt", said Naoki, hoisting up a... Coffin with a strap, for some reason, "Tamotsu and I are not to be trifled with. I can only hope your journey is brief, but perhaps if I find it suitable, I could join you in the future should our paths cross by chance."

Nephenee nodded and walked over to the rest of the crew. Her clack and violet armor seemed somewhat worn and coming from humble origins. Her pinkish hair did not go much further past her neck, and she had noticeable muscle tone. On her side there was what appeared to be a pair of handheld sickles, chained together by their blunt ends.

Overall, something about her demeanor and attire gave her an appearance similar to that of an upright standing centipede, almost.

"The name's Nephenee", she introduced herself hardily, "Pleased to make your acquaintance, all of you."

Naoki at this point has stood up with the coffin slung over his shoulder by the strap, still observing everything with his hunched stance.

"Whoa, shit, we're leaving? Damn it, shouldn't have slept..."

The chest was stunned.

Klamptrap:   1685?! Oh my stars I've been asleep for 237 years! Wonder if the expensive rum stored in me is still good, since the seafloor was cold and all...anyways, going on a voyage huh? Mind if I tag along?   

Jane catches the glare. Did she say something wrong?

... Ah well.

"So like, do you have a ship or something?"

Lyle! Lyle Bird! (Lyle introduces himself to Nephenee.) Hoo boy, we're getting so many people in our crew now!

Ship?! Course we gotta ship!

Duane turns back to Melvin. We gotta ship, right?

"... Oh, we're doing introductions?" Suddenly, Jane takes a pose... Well, no, she looks exactly as disinterested as she usually does. "Name's Jane Peterson. Nice and threatening, right?"

"I'm Gabrielle. I don't have a last name. Not one that I can remember, at least."

"Yep, it's waiting down in the harbor," says Melvin. "It's called the Zenpance. I bought it not long ago. It's not the most fancy ship, but it's got plenty of room."

"I'm Parada.." Parada repeats herself, in case people didn't hear her the first time. Which is a real possibility, given how she sounds.

He frowns. Was he ignored? Maybe he wasn’t loud or direct enough. He approaches the much bigger rat and pokes him, hastily retracting his arm. “E-Excuse me, hello… I-Is it okay if I join you?” As he continues, his voice gets a little smaller. His eyes break contact. “I don’t really have a home for now… not that much money, too.” His gaze begins to jump around as he sheepishly rubs his arm. “I’ll help do what I c-can… so I’m not just… there…”

Duane notices the boy. Well, seeing as we wouldn't let strangers on the ship, let's make friends, boy. What's yer name?

The smaller rat is the one to respond and asks for his name. He briefly glances at him before staring down at the ground. He mumbles in response, but the reply wasn’t coherent.

Duane tries to help the boy out. Did I hear John? Joshua, perhaps? Or, Paul?

He gulps. He figured someone was gonna ask eventually… And it’s nothing to be afraid of, right? It’s just a name, after all. “… Kauri.”
