Bright Eyes wondered a bit about the fishermen being out in this weather, but put it out of her mind. She made her way to shore and clambered up the pier to get a better look.

Seems a nice place, she thought. Maybe a tad quiet, but at least there won't be too many lawkeeper-types to bother me.

Her nose quickly picked up the scent of freshly-caught fish. She looked around to make sure no one was looking, then snagged a couple small ones that were left unattended - they'd make a nice snack later. She then set off for the bar to meet some locals and learn about the recent goings-on.

Kiosion Island

The bar seems rather lively. There are quite a few patrons (some noticeably hammered) and the busy bartender wiping a mug. The bartender notices Bright Eyes.
"Never seen your face before. You a traveler?" Upon closer inspection, the bartender seems to be a grizzled, old man. Despite his gray hairs, he's still rather fit. Definitely still kicking in these later years of his.

As I figured. Most of the locals in one place.

"You could say that," said Bright Eyes as she strode up to the bartender. "I'll have one of your finest, please. I take it you don't get visitors often?"

She flicked her ears about a bit, listening for any interesting chatter or mutterings from the patrons. The sooner she could get a read on the crowd, the better - then she'd know if she was welcome or unwelcome and whether to change that or work with it.

"Aye," He responds, pouring a glass of spirits before acknowledging the stranger's question. "We get a few visitors here and there. Usually just merchants lookin' to sell their wares. Though, if I had to hazard a guess, you aren't looking to sell me something, are ya?" The old man finishes pouring and slides the glass over to Bright Eyes.
In all honesty, the other people in the bar won't offer much good information. They're just having their own side conversations and such.

Bright Eyes shook her head. "Not a merchant myself," she said. "I just navigate for 'em sometimes an' do some transfers of goods." This was true in a sense, although the transfers were usually involuntary, to her and without compensation.

She took a careful sniff of her drink before sipping, then smiled, satisfied that he'd made an effort rather than just serving her swill.

"So what sort of tradin' goes on here?" she asked. "I reckon you export plenty of fish with how many boats were headin' out. Must be pretty important if they're fishin' in this weather."

"Ah, the weather in these parts is rather fickle. Nothing too strange for us. But, yes, we mostly export fish in return for other things," He replies. "Though, if you don't mind me asking, what brings you here? Seeing as you aren't a trader yourself…"
As he continues to converse with Bright Eyes, one of the drunkards can be heard yelling in her general direction.
"Oi, Walt! Toss me another bottle o' rum, would ya?!" In response to this, the old bartender, presumably Walt, turns around, grabs a bottle, and tosses it over to the source of the yelling. The lack of a crashing sound indicates that the drunk fellow actually managed to catch the bottle, as well as him following up with. "Aye, cheers!"

Eventually the group makes it to the island, with Jerrid being the first to prepare to step off the boat and onto the shoreline.

Anyone see where Bright Eyes went?

As Sennen departs, she hears Jerrid's comment and responds with a shrug.

"Last I saw she was swimming for the village. I'd presume she's still there."

Victor looks around, feeling a bit relieved to be on solid ground again. He has still not completely gotten used to living on a ship.

The island and the fishing village seem like a nice place.

"I wonder where that courier lady went. I hope she made it here okay," he says.

Yeah, I hope she's found somewhere to get that wing treated. (Ira agrees with Victor.) Well, shall we head up the beach toward town and find Bright Eyes then?

(He looks around the crew heading off the boat.) Actually, hold on, anyone seen Kauri and Parada?

Island Arrival

Before the wolf can make his way completely off the boat he offers his .02 about where the missing members might be.

I uh...I saw one of them go below deck? The other might be there but...I wouldn't have a clue.

Bright Eyes paused for a moment, thinking about how much she wanted to share, before answering. "That's the captain's business," she said. "My job's just to get the ship where it needs to go. He's the one to say why. Not a bad place to stop by, though. Hear there's plenty of sights to see - the volcano, the petrified forests, that sort of thing."

"Oh, so you're saying that I'll get more business?" Walt muses, chuckling to himself.

"A-Actually, I kinda wanna see what it looks like when your legs turn back…" Kauri admits, definitely fascinated by this new development.

However, upon the ship and the crew's Egg Shards coming closer to the island, a faint rumbling could be heard further inland. It is then followed by a loud, deep, booming sound…

Walt stops chuckling as he hears the noises. "What in the…?"

Similarly, Kauri's eyes widen. He tilts his head toward the source of the noise.
"N-Never mind!" He quickly scrambles to his feet and begins to run outdoors, picking up Old Silver as he runs to meet everyone else.

"Took ya guys long enough..." Gabrielle mumbles, watching the Zenpance come to shore. She'd managed to float to the island proper before the ship, feeling disappointed that the neurotic bird disappeared.

Suddenly, she hears the booming, and the only thing she can say is "...the hell?"

Thought the volcano wasn't active! (Ira says.) Or....guys you think it's that monster??

Mikaela is taken aback by the sudden noise as she stays close to the group.

"... That's never a good sign" she said.

At the rumbling sound, Bright Eyes felt her tail puffing up. She flicked her ears, trying to determine the source. On the upside, it felt like it was far away. On the downside, if it is, it must be pretty damn big.

"How do you feel about the larger kind of customers?" she asked with a nervous chuckle, doing her best to lighten the mood despite her own fear.

Island Arrival

Jerrid stops as soon as he lands on dry ground as he hears the mysterious roar. Instinctually he drops down and begins barking, as if he's pursuing prey. To the others, it would appear that he's slipped back to being feral for just a split second or two.

Walt replies with a nervous frown followed by, "I don't think I have enough booze to accommodate them…"

Both inside the bar and out, the locals are now murmuring to each other in fear, hypothesizing what could've made that noise. While the rumbling could be interpreted as the old volcano awakening, that strange sound after certainly didn't sound natural…
Kauri runs out and reaches everyone else on the dock, witnessing the whole panicked scene as well as that wolf guy barking in the general direction of the sound. "What's happening?! … and is he gonna be okay?"
