Squad 2 - Licensing Test Centre

Mahvash tilted her head at Aster. Other students trickled in a way destined to make them look like a mob moreso than a unit, but Aster was the one in her team.

Folding her hands behind her back she gave the rest a once over. "Bunch of show offs," she said, teasing before marching off towards the center. "Let us go on inside then. And we need a name. 'Saint Academy's Strongest Team' doesn't roll of the tongue like it does with Fairy Tail."

Truth be told, they had ample time to think of a name. They also, presumably had ample time to psyche themselves out. Her teammates would have a harder time talking themselves out of the game if they latched on to the name idea.

SQUAD 2 - TESTING CENTER (Sally)

Sally looked down at her costume. Her pink spandex dress was in order given her showgirl like skirt. She made sure her ponytail is tight and finally deployed her visor. Alright, she looks good and hopes the crowd takes her seriously despite all the pink.

"Alright, come on gang. Let's head on in. Punctuality looks better to the people." Sally says to everyone not in the building.

Sally went to Ryuu and grabbed his hand. It was a little awkward and hopes he didn't take it that way.

"Alright, I will be fine. I can do this. Also, we do need to think of a name. I have a suggestion but, I don't know about it." She thinks to herself.

SQUAD 3 - TESTING CENTER (Finn)

Finn hopes he did help Rebecca. She has a better shot then him but, he knew he couldn't think that way.

"Alright, let's do this thing!" Finn focused and transforms into his energy form. Once he did so, he levitate dashes into the building.

"I WILL NOT FAIL!" He yells while dashing in to psyche himself up.

Rebecca - Licensing Exam Test Center - Squad 3

Finn and Mikael's words of encouragement were actually very helpful to Rebecca. Finn informing her of what he could do meant she more or less knew the capabilities of her entire squad. Well, nothing specific for Van and the Ghost, but they were a vampire and a ghost. She could more or less piece their abilities together. And if Mikael was right and spirit mattered more than appearance, well, she had plenty of spirit to show.

Rebecca' breathing notably calmed as she walked through the door to the testing center.

"Thanks, guys. I'll give it my all."

Iris - Licensing Exam Test Center - Squad 2

As Mahvash walked into the building while asking about team names, Iris took it as her cue to follow.

"H-How about... uh... the Bombastic.. Beauties... no wait, we have Dante and Ryuu… uh... the All-Seeing... Super... People... no, that's lame, uh..."

Iris was taking this name thing much more seriously than it probably warranted.

Testing Center Lobby

The inside of the lobby was nowhere near as impressive as the outside of it, or presumably the primary testing arena. It was certainly large and spacious, but it wasn't designed to look pretty. There were grey floors, grey walls, and even grey tables, with just enough polish to let one know this was supposed to be more than just some dingy old warehouse.

Spaced out around the lobby were various tables seating representatives from different organizations. The Saint Foundation was there of course, seeking out new starry eyed recruits as long as they showed potential, but there were others as well. S.E.E.K.E.R.S, The Watch, Pantheon, Gaea; just about every notable company that employed Superheroes in some fashion was there. If anyone wanted to try and increase their chances of gainful employment in between rounds, this may well have been the way to do it. And there were some among the throngs of students gathered trying to do just that.

Regardless, it was about time for the festivities to begin. At the front of the lobby, an old, wizened man slumped along on a rickety old cane to a podium large enough that he had to stand on a box just to see everyone. He was hunched over like a vulture, but had the dispotion of a tired old snake, yawning as though he had barely any sleep. He briefly looked over a set of notes in his other hand before he began, rubbing his eyes all the while like he had still yet to wake up.

"Oh, God. Let's just get this over with. Right. I could go on and on about how the provisional liscene exam is an exteemed tradition going back years and how you need to make sure you give it your all and bring prestige and honor to your families and yada yada yada, but fuck that shit. You all know why you're here. You want to get yourselves a liscene so you don't have to worry about your teachers throwing you in the kiddy corner all the damn time. And all you wanna know is how you get it. So let's get that out of the way, shall we? (God I'm so fucking hungover.)"

He pinched his brow as he looked over his notes again, making sure he wasn't leaving anything out. And if he did, whatever. It's not like he was getting paid enough for this anyway. "So, this thing's gonna be divided into two different rounds. We'll go over the steps for each round before we do it. One round at a time. As for this round, it's gonna be pretty simple. Just, uh, just put the lime in the coconut and shake it until it stirs the world in meshuggahnuh..."

He started to nod off, his eyes drooping and a deafing snore erupting from his nostrils before he shook himself out of his stupor. "GOD FUCK! Jeezus! Okay, where was I? Oh yeah, that's right. Just listen to what I've got to say and it'll be smooth sailing. Got it?"

"Now," he said. "Like I said, this first round's pretty self explantory. All of you and your squads are gonna be in one of four different mini-areans, and you're all gonna be given three large orange balls. After everyone's there, you're gonna get assaulted by a horde of robots. Each of them's gonna have a slot right in the middle to toss a ball in. You toss a ball in the slot, the robot shuts down, and you get a point. Three points and you're done."

"Course," he said, "it's not so simple. Everyone in your squad needs to get three points. The more of your squadders pass, the better you do. But if enough of them fail, then you all fail. On top of that, you've also got to compete with all the the other students trying to get a piece. And there's only so many robots to go around. If you aren't fast enough, they might all be gone before you get a chance to get all the robots you need. And there's nothing stopping other students from doing whatever they can to try and slow you down. Though I'll leave it up to you as to whether you should. Just think carefully before you do anything rash. Ya damn brats."

The man took a swig of water(?) from a bottle on a stool behind the podium before wiping beads of sweat from his worn brow. "Right. Unless anyone has any questions, we'll be starting shortly. Till then, for the love of God, KEEP IT THE FUCK DOWN! Some us only got 2 hours of sleep last night! Damn fucking bastards..."

Perry (Squad 4)

Perry shrunk back, confidence shaken. She really didn't know why the man was being so mean...

Rollo whimpered and licked her face. Lucky hissed at the hungover man and yowled in complaint. Pip flew around, squawking, just to spite him.

Nevertheless, she slunk over to a corner to wait with an apprehensive expression on her face.

Aster (Squad 2)

"So much for professionalism," Aster said loudly enough to rattle the brains of any drunk. "I'd at least think this would be treated with some degree of importance. This is our future!"

Aster's voice shook with barely contained anger. Avajax emerged from Aster's shoulder and began shrieking. It wasn't enough to be annoying to people who weren't hungover, but it was obviously the equivalent of angry cussing.

Noah smiled as the old man was being a rude old shit towards all the kids, Yet Noah thought it was nice of him to tell then what the first test would be.

However Noah knows it's unlikely he'll do well. Yeah he can copy everyone else's abilities, but he's not the most skilled of the gang, even when it comes to just throwing.

Shane

Shane listened in to all the drama and the rules and such to this little challenge, and he did admit, he had little interest in actually going hero at this point, but if he could acquire the provisional hero license, he could act more freely. And that was absolutely valuable.

Halloween had seen him imbibe quite a surprising amount of alcohol, and only his advanced physiology had let him cheat the consequences of his own actions. It looked like there were a surprising number of new faces around here, but he did not doubt that he could make it through this as usual.

The others could be likewise counted on to make this a successful outing.

Ellie...one of those new kids...

The ride on the bus had been surprisingly quiet, and Shane had mostly been contemplating what would come of this. The fact was he doubted that the werewolves that long ago would be the end of the plans of that dark dressed man. That idea had rested at the back of his mind, and now it was at the forefront.

Van

The sun was bright, almost annoyingly so, but Van came out here to support his friends in their endeavor to obtain the provisional license. This was a very big deal for his human friends, and so in honor of their commitment, he would give this 110% of his effort. He could not let down their dream of acquiring the license - let alone the tremendous honor it would be to acquire such a license himself.

He clenched a hand and went over to Rebecca and stated, "I swear to you, I will give everything I can in order to make sure we rise to this challenge..."

However approaching Rebecca for the first time, he noticed the interesting odor she possessed. It reminded him of the battlefields his brothers wrought, and the chilled bittersweet smell left behind.

Sam just rolled his eyes at the old man, yeah, he got less sleep than he should, but he wasn't making an ass out of himself. Kinda makes him want to start an all-day carnival to spite him, but leave that for later. He has a test to pass.

"Okay, everyone" He told his squad "We need a plan. I could hold them down to score points quickly, but let's agree to something so we don't trip over each other"

Squad 2

"How about Sky Movers?" Ryuu suggested with a shrug, in all honesty, he wasn't that creative, hell, his super name was very direct. So, he'd just defer to whoever has a better idea.

He hadn't really realized he'd been holding Sally's hand that long, but he gave a cheer for his team to be sharp even after that speech.

Realizing how long they have been holding hands, Sally subtly let go. It was nice of Ryuu however. Despite the harsh and crude speech, Sally knows what to do.

"Alright, I will do my best to support everyone. For team names, my suggestion was is The Saviors or The Young Saviors if that is better."

SQUAD 3 (Finn)

Finn got up in front of his squad. He just realized they had a ghost, spooky.

"Alright everyone, listen up! We have to work together as one! I know we may not look like the most well put together group but, we have the spirit and tenacity to pull through! As long we have that, we can pull through! Let's go gang!" Finn said, holding his clenched fist tight and high in the air.

Dante listened to the rules of the exam.

Victoria was on the verge of falling asleep as the man droned on about the exams. Now, this was a guy who had the right idea to her. Just get the hate minimum through for the unimportant stuff, and then go sleep. But of course, the license exam was a different latter.

Not going to have it end up like the tournament last year.

With his speech done, Vicky yawned once more and cracked her fingers.

Gaea

Iona winced as the word struck a giant bell in her head, the pain of where she had first heard that word rushing back in a flash. With a brief nursing of her head with her hand, she turned to her classmates, especially addressing Jack and Dawn, speaking in airy words under her breath.

"Do any of the names of organizations here remind you of something? Ring any bells?"

At the same time she reached into her satchel, pulling out a sphere of obsidan, and giving Bellpepper a nod with a brief turn toward her shoulder.

"Like Gaea?"

"That is part of the test," Mahvash fanned herself, appearing as nonchalant as always though faintly smiling. "You'll deal with that sort of person often in your career. You'll provide the professionalism, if you want." Of course he wasn't necessarily acting that way on purpose but this is the way he came for this test.

The daeva motioned the rest of her squad to come in closer. "I do not know whether he's trying to rile us up against each other," she started when the others were near enough, "but, do keep in mind that you'll have to work with these people in the future. And, depending on the next part of the test, that could be five minutes from now. So, please avoid sabotaging the other students. At least don't make that your primary tactic. Moving onto operations..."

Mahvash shut her fan rather abruptly and tapped it to her chin. "If we can take what he said at face value, we can simply cut a small band of bots off from the rest. Ryuu can wind push about 20 bots into a pocket and Iris may freeze them to the floor. Sally and I would defend our catch from poachers. We'll work out more details when we find out more about the robots, the arena, and the others, but this should take us minutes. Then we'll help the other squads. There, that's my outline. Now I want questions and comments from the rest of you. Improvements? Entirely different plan outline to suggest?"

Outside Training Centre - Squad 3

The Ghost observed as most of the heroes-in-training walked inside the building. Deciding to ignore Finn and his silly theatrics, he poked his head inside the lobby through a wall and listened to the old man's explanation. He sneered at his unprofessionalism. From what he could gather amongst the cursing and mumbling, this task would most likely require a tangible form. Preferably an agile one, with strong aerial capabilities. It was time to put his skills to use.

Pulling his head out of the wall, he looked towards the sky. He found a number of pigeons flying by, but his gaze fixed itself on what appeared to be a stork nest in one of the taller trees of a nearby park. That would do it.

He floated towards the nest, finding a lone, sleeping stork inside it. "Don't worry, I'll only borrow it for a few minutes.", he said.

His usual, humanoid form dispersed into a cloud of shapeless ectoplasm, which then began to force itself through the bird's beak and nostrils. The startled bird jolted awake and began thrashing about, attempting to fight it off, but it was not to be. Its black, beady eyes began shininh with a mysterious blue glow. He had possessed it.

Now in control of the stork's body, he took flight and swooped past the stragglers his squad. "You might want to go inside. The test is about to begin and I don't want you to make me fail." Having said that, he flew inside the lobby.

“Sooo... it's like a ball game?” Yoko eventually questioned, already seeming to vibrate with sheer excitement. “'Cause I love ball games!”

Plus it'll help my aim. If I'm gonna learn how to use foxfire better I need to know how to make my fireballs work properly. Maybe if I can get good at this I'll get used to the shape and stuff...

Her form began to morph as she thought through this, becoming somewhat more defined in musculature and slimly built. Her hair shortened down to merely chin-length and shifted into a deep brown for the sake of novelty more than anything, and her facial features altered so as to be more sharpened and narrow. The slight lengthening of her limbs also seemed to increase her height by a couple of inches, while her foxlike traits shrank down and vanished away into nothing.

Efficient for speed and strength. Should be slim enough to be flexible but powerful enough to sprint and throw at greater ease than contemporaries. Hopefully. Also should help in keeping any potential saboteurs away... I hope they don't actually do that, she mused, looking over the rest of her squad and then the others in the area (pausing slightly to give Zach a broad, shut-eyed grin and a cheerful wave).

Really hope this works. If not, I can be an ōni. They've gotta be good at ball games...

Ash snorted in amusement at the clearly hungover (and maybe even still drinking if her suspicious on his flask were correct) guy's speech, but still filed away as much information as she could. It took a couple of mental run-throughs to fully grasp the concept, but she was soon confident enough that she had every important rule memorized.

“Okay, bozos—do me a favour and kick #$&%ing ass out there, a'ight? Don't want any of you guys to lose on me,” she addressed to her squad, pointedly staring especially at Mikael. “'Specially you, tall red and libido. Let's just say quit it with this whole silent treatment thing we got and just agree to clean up after each other's messes, alright? Better get this done and dusted before we get legal permission to blow s*** up,” she shrugged, spitting into her hand and holding it out to him. “To watch our friends' backs—including each other. Don't let each other be stupid, uh? We peace, man? An' I swear to god if you say your demon saliva is venomous...” she grumbled, though her tone was laced with good humour this time.

Jack's hands paused in their rapid motions for a moment before resuming, now at a much more sedate pace. "It could be nothing." They replied, keeping their voice low. "It's not exactly uncommon to name organizations after greco-roman figures."

Jack leaned against Dawn, doing their best to appear relax though up-close it was obvious that their tension was even higher than before. "But we can't take the chance that they aren't the same Gaea. So what we should do is pretend like nothing is wrong. We don't want to tip them off and we need to be on our best behavior. Last time they tried to start a werewolf plague and left their patsies out to dry. I'm willing to bet they'll try to frame us for making a mistake here, like they did with that shadow werewolf."

Their hands paused entirely now and they frowned in thought. "The difficulty is knowing what an actual attack will look like, we don't know what surprises might be inherent to the exam in the first place."

Zach - Squad 1 - Licensing Exam Test

Okay. So, balls, holes, shut them down, three points and you're good. Easy enough, and so long as he helped the others, Squad 1 would be good to go.

Ink was over his body so it gave him added defenses, as well as being light enough for him to move quick and throw harder than he usually did. He just couldn't draw as much as he could. He still COULD, but he was limited in the amount of ink available to him.

He couldn't bring a lot to the table, so all he could do was listen in on everyone elses ideas and bounce off those, and hopefully, at the least, amplify the end result. If everyone passed, that was great! He just didn't know how many needed to FAIL in order for the squad to fail (He imagined a 50/50 Split).

So, he crossed his arms and listened...and of course, gave a happy little wave back at Yoko, none-too-plussed at her new appearance, the smile hidden under his ink mask but hopefully she would get the enthusiasm he was sending to her.

Is it selfish that I'm happy as we pass the setting sun?

He's trying to mentally take note of the abilities of the others around him. One that seems like it would be the best for throwing a ball just right and far enough, but which one that would be is tricky, since they all seem to work well.

Testing Center - Squad 1 - Ellie

An obviously hungover man - apparently everyone was partying last night - explained the rules of the first portion of the exam. Ellie could only stifle a giggle. Humans were such lightweights.

As Sam called for a huddle, Ellie held out her hand, palm upward, and let sparks dance across it. "They're robots, so I should be able to overload them pretty easy. Then I'll guard them while you guys empty your balls into them. Pun intended."

She stifled another giggle at her own joke.

Testing Center - Squad 3 - Mikael

"So robot dodgeball, basically." Mikael mused, thinking back to their dodgeball game earlier in the semester. This would hopefully be significantly less of a clusterfuck.

Then Ash called on the Squad to give what Mikael assumed was a pep talk. Smiling at her, he spat in his own hand, ignoring the temptation to summon his fire, and grasped hers, shaking it firmly (though taking care not to break it with his enhanced strength).

"Fair enough. I'll set our mutual distaste aside if you will." He smirked. "Just don't go sticking gum to the robots, eh?"

That done, she turned back around to the rest of the Squad and clapped her hands together; seeming to indicate pretty heavily that she had a plan... right up until she opened her mouth and her brain effectively turned to mulch.

Personal strategies she was good at. She'd give herself that. Team strategies? Hell no. Too many peeps to keep track of. Plus she didn't always know their powers.

“...Okay, so I've got #$&%ing nothing. Screw it—huddle. C'mon, don't be shy. I ain't got s*** right now so I kinda need some input, y'know?” she admitted, gesturing for the others to approach with her arms.

Wow. That had to be the least enthusiastic announcer in history. It was slightly off-putting, honestly. But it couldn't dampen Rebecca's awkward mix of enthusiasm and nervous tension.

Ash and Mikael agreeing to cooperate with each other was a good sign. She'd honestly forgotten about her squadmates' mutual dislike, but it certainly could have caused problems if left unchecked. And as for Ash's call for strategy...

"If we can pin the 'bots down I can definitely stick them in place and turn them into easy targets. Say, if Mikael 'ported them to me, for example. Little bit of a muck mire around us could help ward off the other teams too."

For the occasion she returned to the sporty sports bra and fuzzy short shorts she wore during the dodgeball... incident, figuring that mobility would be more helpful than cuteness for this sort of activity. However, her ears twitched at the mention of Gaea from Iona, slinking on over as one arm reached up towards the ceiling and the other stretched it towards her shoulder. "Just gotta play it by ear and do our best if something happens, right...? After all, that's what heroes do~"

That being said, Felicity did a quick once over of her squad. Thankfully they had quite a bit of versatility in their group - Perry could channel for close range or swarm with ghost cuties for long, Iona had a spell for every occasion, Alex could switch off from long to short depending on form... she herself was mid-to-close range. Dawn could tank and Jack could manipulate luck - though Felicity wasn't quite sure to what degree.

"Dawn, Alex, and Fluffy can go in close while Iona, Perry, and Jack support from behind, making sure other teams don't interfere. Wanna show everyone our good sides, so try not to hurt or mess with them lots - just make sure they don't mess with us and focus on our goals," Fluffy pondered out loud, half for herself half for her team. Then, in a lower voice, "If something bad does happen, Dawn can help protect people up close and escort them out while Iona can shift terrain to keep exits clear for people, us and everyone else, to escape. Rest of us can help people closest to us, but we should clear out quickly - we're not as durable as Dawn and our abilities don't have as much protective capability as Iona's. Whoever's prior goal was defamation, but our goal should be everyone's safety first. Help, not hurt - okay?"

That being said, Fluffy turned over to the hungover and possibly still drunk speech giver and raised her hand for the allegedly allowed questions. "Yes, yes, question here! Can we know what the bots do in advance? Or is that not allowed? Oh, oh, second question - are they safe and who made them so Mama knows who to sue if they aren't?"

"Funny girl...that's what one of the girls I hooked up with last night said! Yeah, overloading the bots and letting us go deep in em sounds nice...but we gotta be aware the other teams might decide to intercede."

Shane looked around and said, "...I could probably suss out any sneaky guys or gals running around." He wouldn't say how - but he trusted they'd trust him given they were on a squad together now and he'd showed his stuff prior.

"My ice can probably tamper down the movement of the bots too, in case they prove resistant - and I could probably freeze up the joints or something."

Something tells me there's a history here...

"If we are talking about a strategy for dealing with these bots and possibly the other teams, I think my Familiars could probably run decent interference. And my unique talents can probably deal with the robots movement, along with Rebecca's abilities." He contemplated, listening to what the others had to say.

The announcer seemed deader than most ghouls, which was quite an achievement.

But he wouldn't let an unenthusiastic announcer tamp down his passion for this day and its events.

"As far as strategy, we need to finish this strong and fast. The longer this gets bogged down, the worse our odds look, I think."

Licensing Exam Test Centre – Squad 3

“Freeze plus 'porting. I like that,” Ash stated, nodding towards Rebecca approvingly. “As Vampy Boy said, we'll need to be quick about it though. I'll say that it might be a little safer for Mikael to teleport you to them instead of the other way around. Otherwise we'll get a #$&%ing pile of robots—an' nobody wants that. Orgy's s'posed to come after...” she trailed off with a frown, before shaking her head and rubbing her neck sheepishly. “Sorry. Anyhow, if any of you are thinking of using this as a chance for dick-measuring then GTFO, 'kay? Ain't gonna tolerate any o' that s***. Either we work together or nuthin'. An' I ain't lookin to sabotage either. Eyes on the prize, people. If folks get in your way like #$&%ing jackasses then sure; shove 'em aside—but don't go #$&%ing Terminator on this s***. Get your 'bots, get the #$&% out. Rinse an' repeat. Watch each other's backs. Got it?” she commanded in a stern, no-nonsense tone—sending a pointed glance to each of them.

Licensing Exam Test Centre – Squad 1

“I'm an attacker, if that helps,” Yoko chimed in, jogging over to join the rest of her squad. “I'd use my illusions but I don't know how well they work on these new robot thingies, so I'll stick with throwing. But uh... Sam and Shane-san could both freeze them up...” she pondered, beginning to bounce on the balls of her feet again. “I dunno. Let's just see what happens! It'll be fun~!” she cheered—her childish enthusiasm not quite matching up to her more muscular, mature form.
