Is StoryReset largely a ComicBookTropes trope?

I can't think of any Live-Action TV examples for this, to add to the page, so am asking here.

Is this one of those medium-specific tropes, unlike Soft Reboot (which is different) that can cover various media?

Someone on this forum said it was for discussing tropes and usage, so thought I'd ask.

Linky: Story Reset

You know, reading the page, most examples are all about In-Universe timeline changes, while the description seems to only talk about the creator rewriting stuff to branch off onto a different path. So with that dissonance, I can't really say either way. But at least I don't think it's mostly in comic books. Don't see why it wouldn't happen elsewhere.

The Godzilla film series seems like an example of this trope. Whenever Toho studios is looking to Reboot the franchise, typically what they do is ignore all of the previous movies except for the original 1954 Gojira, and make the new film or series of films a direct sequel to that.

You can also see it in the Halloween franchise, where Halloween H20 and Halloween Resurrection ignore the events of Halloween 4, 5, and 6, and treat only the original Halloween and Halloween 2 as Canon (Halloween 3 having been out-of-continuity from the get-go). And the Halloween movie that came out this year does this again, but goes a step farther, ignoring all previous films in the franchise except the first one.
