Drop is my latest villainess isekai. Protagonist is cute and her love interest is pretty endearing. I like how when she's developing cosmetics and stuff like is standard that the story actually it explains what she's doing and why it works. I get the feeling that making cosmetics was actually her past life's job or at least related as well.

I also appreciate the subtle reminders of how lonely she probably is. Her father is doting in his own way but her mother won't speak to her and two of her three siblings are too old to meet with her much. Also, there's only two children her own age in the story and she's only met one of them once.

Proving that even good series can disappoint Kuro no Shoukanshi kind of messed up an reveal that's been set up since the first chapter. And in such a weird way too, that it's hard to even tell what the author tried to achieve.

I don't know what this Kuro is, but it sounds a lot like Raditz.

Jokes aside, how this isekai mess up?

Yep, full steam ahead on the Gille/Cordelia ship for Drop. And it's nice to see Cordelia finally make a friend. The heroine finally got mentioned as well but hasn't made an actual appearance so far. I hope this is one of those stories where the heroine and villainess can become besties.

Haunted Duke's Daughter was a really fun example of that where the villainess is genuinely the villainess and not a reincarnator and had even started to bully the heroine. They made up because she had to admit that the prince was flirting with her and the girl herself had done basically nothing wrong. Unfortunately that one seems to have been dropped.

[up][up]This will require some context, so I'll be putting it in a folder as to not spoil.

    spoilers
So, basically the main character Kelvin starts the story with no memories, because he sold them in exchange for more skill points. He wanted more skill points because he wanted to have the super rare Summoning skill. And he wanted that because he actually fell in love with the Goddess of reincarnation Melfina and wanted to be able to summon her. But since she's a God, he must first level up before being able to summon her. Kelvin is at first a little skeptical since he has nothing to go on except her word, but he goes along with it. So Kelvin has some adventures, gets more summons and gets up in levels. All the while Melfina's voice follows him. So far so good.

So finally last chapter Melfina got summoned, right at the very end of it. Big moment for the series. The chapter ends right as Kelvin sees her for the first time and admits that she wasn't joking about the love on the first sight thing. Everyone was interested in what happens next. So comes the latest translated chapter... which skips the rest of their reunion and goes straight to Melfina having a sparring match with another one of Kelvin summons, which even characters admit make no sense because they apparently didn't even introduce themselves until after the battle. This match takes most of the chapter, after which comes some quick introduction to the rest of the group and Melfina giving Kelvin a blessing. End of chapter.

It's just baffling how much they rushed the whole thing, literally feels like a whole chapter got skipped over. And this is not some minor thing, this is literally a plot that's been established since the begining and is basically responsible for the entire set up of the story!

And if that wasn't enough, I've looked up next chapter raw and It's about some random girl we've never seen before, like we're supposed o care.

Well that came out longer than I expected.

[up]Maybe the author is just not very good with the mushy stuff? I imagine they started writing the part, but couldn't put it into words that didn't make them gag, and decided to skip to the part they felt comfortable writing.

Well, lots of writers think of good hooks and run with it without thinking about how to actually resolve the promises they're making. They either solve it on the fly or, well, don't.

Haven't got too much into Isekais yet after reading Bakarina. But I'm planning to watch Log Horizon and Re:Zero soon enough and also try to read Saihate no Paladin because why not? The former two interest me considered how popular it is and the latter is due to the friend on Discord recommend it to me.

But that'll come later once I finished Mon Colle Knights and reading several Kazuhiro Fujita mangas tongue

When version of Re: Zero would people recommend? I tend to lean pretty heavily towards going for the manga version of any given work, so I'm curious as to whether people think it's a good adaptation or not.

I can't say anything about the manga, but I think you'll be missing out on some pretty great voice performances if you go that route.

It's been fun.

Dub or sub? tongue

(I'll assume you mean sub)

Funimation still hasn't realeased the second half of the dub, from what i've heard, so you should go with sub. you should also check out the web novel and light novels, especially when it comes to Arc 4

I'm sure the dub is fine, but I went with subs myself. Currently I'm assuming season 2 of the anime will cover a fair chunk of material faithfully before coming up with a new ending, since last I heard the novels still hadn't actually wrapped up the big arc that starts almost immediately after the end of season 1.

It's been fun.

Can confirm the dub has been perfect so far. I'd recommend either the anime or light novel, which has just about caught up with the anime at last. Plus you'll get the side stories the anime seems very unlikely to cover.

To my surprise It Seems Like I Got Reincarnated Into The World Of A Yandere Otome Game is actually pretty low on yanderes. ...But other than that I guess there's not that much of note to say about it except that the protagonist approaches them rather calmly and maturely. She accepts pretty quickly that the world and people have changed and her engagement with one of the capture targets, Wolf, proceeds rather smoothly. She tries to do the whole 'hey if we find other people we love we can stop this' thing only for him to rather bluntly ask if this means she found someone else and when she says no he makes it clear he's pretty into her, which she understands quite easily.

As a bonus to the 'people actually communicating and not being emotionally dense' thing, this is one of the stories where the villainess and heroine get along quite well. I'm pretty fond of the heroine character because she's not what you'd normally expect.

Are the harem boys actually called "Capture Targets" in these Otome games?

RedSavant Since: Jan, 2001
#1272: Mar 28th 2019 at 7:18:26 AM

Generally, yeah. It comes from 攻略/capture/clear being the term for clearing a route (or a dungeon, stage, etc.; game strategy guides are called kouryaku guides in Japanese).

It's been fun.

Yeah, they're usually called that. Also, calling them heroes as the male equivalent to heroine sounds really weird.

Shlugo_the_great Since: Sep, 2009
#1274: Mar 28th 2019 at 9:13:17 AM

Especially since "Hero" has a very specific meaning in Japanese fantasy.

#1275: Mar 28th 2019 at 9:22:22 AM

Mhm. It also helps that you'll see 'heroine' in katakana to refer to female love interests, but you won't see hero/yuusha/eiyuu/whatever to refer to a capture target.
