General Isekai Thread

Sadly yes. Now, main protagonists in general are nearly always better at everything than everybody else or at least quickly become that way. That's why main protagonists are the main protagonists, because they're significant. However, it's unfortunately common for Isekai protagonists to have... hacks for lack of a better word that not only allow them to do this but do so to an extreme even in direct defiance of the world they find themselves in.

Like say the rules for a world are a Level 1 Warrior can't possibly beat a Level 5 warrior and it takes decades for a Level 1 Warrior to become a Level 5 Warrior. Then an Isekai protagonist comes along and because of some mystic power or something they have but the residents don't, not only manages to beat a Level 5 Warrior as a Level 1 Warrior, but then goes on to become a Level 5 warrior themselves in a year, if that, somehow. That's when the Isenkai protagonists have to work for it at all too. Sometimes Isekai protagonists would just start out as a Level 10 Warrior right off the bat and thus be able to effortlessly crush anyone.

To answer the question that got page bottomed, I've never heard of a game isekai where the person reincarnated as the game itself. That would be an interesting premise I'd look at if it were a Thing.

Ahahahahahahaha. Re:Monster's getting an anime. Honestly took a while, that's a relative old timer for the Isekai fad. I guess it needed time for the more... shitty Isekai bits to be more acceptable.

I'd feel like the reason that hasn't propped up is becuase it could veer into throy questions.

Like what does it mean when people say the "the game"? the story? the setting? A god of said setting? The former two would end up with a weird Genius Loci scenario which might not be fun for the usual isekai audience, the latter is more doable, but while some might be tantamount to the idea, I don't think outright reincarnating someone as an outright Physcial God is ever been attempted and the potential would exist that somehow that would be seen as a bridge too far.

I imagine it's someone reincarnating as an actual physical copy of the game and being sent into the game's world.

It might be akin to the situation Overlord Zetta from Makai Kingdom was stuck in when he was forced to Confine himself in the Sacred Tome. As the Sacred Tome, he's the Cosmic Keystone of the Netherworlds and writing in his pages can alter reality. It's not much good for him since, being a book, he can't write in his own pages.

Someone being reincarnated as a videogame would have it even harder, especially if the setting of the game isn't one that has videogames.

I can already see it getting a lavish adaption and becoming incredibly popular with the animanga community because of course it will. Shield Hero, Jobless, and Gob Slayer all did. Why not this one?

Its basically the OG Reincarnated into a Weak monster and level up overtime series that Slime and Spider Isekai both borrowed from, IIRC.

Don't remember the exact release dates.

Rape, eating people...the MC pretty much completely abandons whatever morality he had as a human shockingly fast.

What's even worse is that it's treated so casually by the narrative.

Wow, color me surprised.

The shockingly fast part is also exaggerated. Since goblins reach maturity very quickly — and the MC evolves even more quickly due to Cannibalism Superpower — he becomes a superpowered monster less than a year after his rebirth as a goblin.

He does still have people he cares about and whom he protects, but he overall doesn't have any moral compunctions against killing, eating, or raping people.

I'll point out that a lot of this isn't actually on-panel. A good chunk of it is just casually mentioned by the MC in his narration. It really helps emphasize just how detached he's become from whatever morals he had as a modern day human.

If I recall, it's implied he was a cannibal(or had an Armie Hammer like fetish about it) before he reincarnated. Also, he feels bad for the women so he develops drugs and aphrodisiacs he forcefully feeds them with while they're in captivity so that they WANT to be sexually taken so it's not rape anymore and thus a okay now.

I have read RE:Monster... until I stopped since it felt like I was watching a road-roller drive over a street full of tomatoes at its steady pace.

I don't even recall where I stopped reading it at this point.

You mean the series is very slow paced and not very exciting?

It felt like the MC had become too invincible after a while and that nothing down the line would even stop him.

Also it became really difficult to keep track on all those skills/abilities he hoarded into himself like a black hole of info-text.

Had this MC been reincarnated in a MHA-verse, he would have become the next AFO.

Eh, I don't mind.

Stuido Deen is doing it, and they tend to be inconsistent at best depending on the staff involved.

I want to say I'm surprised, but after reading the summary and seeing what type of monster the MC reincarnated into, I was pretty much expecting rape to be a thing in the story.

I wasn't that interested when I first saw a copy of the first volume at my local bookstore, but it does seem like this isn't really my type of story, so I won't be watching the anime adaptation either.

I at least have I'm In Love With the Villainess to look forward to in terms of reincarnation isekai.

The MC also evolves from a goblin to an ogre, which makes his "appetites" even more fitting.

Only thing I really know about the story is what the trope pages describe.

The fact one of the male goblins evolved into a Priest makes me hopeful that at least some stopped the rape, but I’m not holding my breath.

Nor the fact that there are female goblins so why would they even go after non-goblins for intercourse!?

It's not just the goblins that get in on this. In one chapter, an unlucky male human priest is taken away by a female goblin and kobold. It's treated as Black Comedy (as is the rest of the rape in the story come to think of it).

It should be noted I guess that the MC does have genuinely consensual relationships too. He's also a surprisingly good father to the children he sires. But other than that, he's still very much a Monster.

I'll also note that this stuff takes a back seat in later chapters since the MC becomes more focused on preparing for an upcoming destined confrontation with The Chosen One hero.

Its really weird because in earlier chapters he's pretty aghast at the rape the goblins do to maintain their population (its explained female goblins are nearly infertile so they have to kidnap women if they want to sire children). As soon as some elves get uppity with him though he randomly just abandons his morals for no real good goddamn reason.

Edit: As a clarification for what someone said earlier. He doesn't have an obsession with cannibalism so much as he comes from a world where Espers are a thing and his power, Absorption, carried over when he got Bad End'd by his yandere stalker and isekai'd into the new world.

Random rambling.

You know what, to Hell with it. I finally pulled the trigger and started writing manuscript chapters of my next work.

This time, it would be an actual, proper isekai story about a severely depressed guy haunted by ghosts of his past climbing a tower chock full of (slightly watered down) Soulsborne-franchise level of monsters and bosses...with implicit purpose of killing himself inside.

Once inside though, he realizes that he can't actually die until he clears the tower, much to his utter despair. Otherwise lacking in buffs that other challengers receive upon entering the tower with more offensive potential and utility, the MC has to come up with all sorts of rule exploitation, dirty cheats, or just going all zombie mode in order to beat each level...

...only to later realize that there's something really sinister (more sinister than his methods, that is) about this "tower" and has to change his entire approach altogether.

My current webnovel is now over 700 chapters and by the time it ends, it will be well past 900 chapters (sobs) HOPEFULLY, I can finish my next work in just 200 chapters or even less....XP

How much do you wish you had an editor to smack you with a ruler and say No! Stop that subplot! It's a waste of time! or something to that effect?
