Wow that sounds sketchy. Not as bad as that one that's basically jacking off the concept of being a WW2 Class-A war criminal, but still.

It's been fun.

That sounds like a terrible idea. Does it take itself seriously?

@Sapphire: The one I was talking about was going to get an anime before people looked more closely at it and were like "Holy shit, this main character has 'slaughtered thousands of civilians with a sword during WW 2' on his resume at the top of his resume in embossed gold print", and there was a bunch of weird numerology about dates and ages certain real-life Imperial Japan figures and war criminals died at and stuff. Basically similar in concept to if someone wrote a character's backstory and leaned suspiciously hard on numbers like 14 and 88. There was a big controversy over it a few months ago.

[up][up] I was talking about the one in the post before yours. I already knew about the one you mentioned.

Yeah, that's the one.

And [up]yeah, I guess it would be funny, at least, if it was more on the 'rides a bear on the way to shirtlessly punch another bear' side of things.

It's been fun.

Not only does the protagonist do this, his main motivation as a character is to find higher-quality bears.

OK that actually is kinda funny. It’s one thing to write him as an isekai protagonist and another thing to write his ridiculous PR persona as an isekai protagonist.

I just heard that that next season there will be an Isekai crossover anime( Overlord x Re: Zero x Konosuba x Nazi loli)

E.T technically is a Isekai movie

Yup. The thread for it devolved into infighting and name-calling pretty much immediately, if I recall.

Just to nitpick — technically Tanya isn't a Nazi per se since her faction is based on WW I Germany not WW II Germany.

[up]She was an HR manager. Her past life ended when a guy she fired for various reasons (depending on the adaptation) pushed her past self into an incoming train.

And yes, the guy her past self fired totally deserved it. He was an underperforming drug addict who refused to clean up his act and was causing other employees' performance to suffer as well.

One other issue with her past self is that her past self was a hardcore lolbertarian who subscribed to the Austrian school of economics. As one might guess by my use of the derogatory "lolbertarian" crack, I'm not a fan of Libertarianism.

I would feel bad for the guy if he didn't kill him, because Japans confrmity combined with the job over everything ensures the Salaryman lifestyle sucks.

[up]Except the guy was genuinely performing badly, habitually tardy, a drug addict who refused to get help, and deliberately made work worse for his fellow employees. And in the original LN, the MC even tried to go out of his way to help the guy shape up before firing him.

Even if it wasn't Japan, any responsible HR manager would fire this guy for the sake of the well-being of the company and its other employees.

Japanese salaryman life sucking doesn't excuse making it even worse for your co-workers. Shit, it's even less excusable — their lives are already hard enough as it is due to the culture.

Yeah I heard about that later. But in the anime due to not getting that I found it easier to sympathize with him till the murder.

Speak of the devil, I found a reincarnated as the villain girl plot where the heroine is also a reincarnator. Interesting thing to note is that it seems like in the original game she was a Villain Protagonist and the (current) villain girl never noticed while playing.

About the Putin one, no it does not take itself seriously as far as I know and the War Crimes Isekai was about an old 90 year old WW 2 vet who lived his post war life as a kendo sensei who got isekai'd. The numbers thing was due to some of the numbers being anagrams of numbers and dates relating to the infamous Nanking Massacre which it is HEAVILY implied he participated in(how else do you record 3k kills then on civs?)

First time hearing the more fleshed out details about Tanya. The stuff I had red made him sound like he got off on firing people in the most asshole way possible and being a massive social darwinist and that this was an especially asshole firing by him. The guy being a junky and shitty employee DEFINETLY changes things up.

Oh... I thought that the Isekai with world war themes in it is called Nidome no Yuusha but its Nidome no Jinsei... Interesting.

Anyways, anyone got a spoiler on the latest Youjo Senki film :3 Do you think that in your opinion Tanya got a Complete Monster moniker after that?

Yes... and no. Speaking as having read the first four novels, while most of what the anime covers is indeed based of the trench warfare of World War I, towards the end of the third novel, right where the anime ends, the Republic basically combos the Dunkirk evacuation with the Free French in French North Africa with their leader being a massive De Gaul expy. Meanwhile the commanding officer of the Imperial forces, leading a largely mechanised force is literally called "Von Rommel."

The series starts in World War I but segues into an expy of World War II, but without the intervening Weimar Republic years in play so politically if remains an expy of Imperial Germany.

Self Proclaimed Villainess' Observation Log. The villain girl isn't actually the protagonist but rather the prince she's engaged to. When they first met she started loudly blabbing about how she was reincarnated into an otome game and he thought it was hilarious so he kept her around as entertainment. She's desperately trying to keep the plot on the rails but is massively incompetent so she derails it rather quickly.

The heroine shows up a bit later and she's also trying to keep things on the rails, but she's too obvious and the prince finds her annoying at best and possible an enemy of the state at worst.

The bad translation for the first few chapters of web novel made me stop reading until I saw it had a manga, which got me back into reading the novel.

Hm. I guess it's just a one volume story. I suppose I can respect not milking the franchise to death. Overall I'd say... it's okay. Like a 6 or 7 out of 10. I guess next I'll go with an actual isekai. The light novel of that one about the vampire that just wants to sleep, I guess? I get the feeling that it's one of those series that really gets by on cute art and is otherwise kinda boring, so I might not stick with it.
