I see no way in which this can fail to go over swimmingly.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! You can't say this is scraping the bottom of the barrel, because they already made The Emoji Movie and Battleship.
This has the potential to be a deliberate satire… or an accidental one. It does intrigue me that they had initially considered Amy Schumer, who from the look of that photo, isn't really the "built like a twig" body-type that Barbie usually promotes.

Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo. From my understanding, that was supposed to be a plot point.
I wouldn't mind a satirical Barbie movie like the one Sony was apparently going for, though I'm not sure the same project will be carried over to Warner Bros. since Mattel's newly-set up film studio will likely have a say on it.
"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherThere's already an official, satirical Barbie series online called Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse. From the little I've seen, and some online reactions to it, it surprisingly competent with the source material.
If this film is written anywhere close to that series, I think it might do alright.
Back in 2014 Sony and Mattel announced that a live-action movie based off Barbie was in production. The film was supposed to have Amy Schumer as the star, but she later left.
After setting the film for a 2020 release, Sony lost the rights and now it looks like Warner Bros. is in talks to pick up the project from Mattel, with Margot Robbie in talks to play the title role and producer.
