It's actually been the opposite for me, in that I started off kinda disappointed in Akanesasu Shoujo but got a lot more into it as the episodes went on. I like what it's selling so far.

Fight for something, even if its meaningless.

I'm actually on a spectrum when I kind of like Akanesasu so far although its nothing special. Still, what I like about the anime is the OP song. One of my favorites from this fall.

"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."

It's certainly nothing amazing right now but I enjoy looking forward to what goofy adventures they're going to get into next. Then again, it looks like things are going to get serious starting with the next episode so it'll be interesting to see how they go with that. Also Asuka is a really fun character.

Kinda want to know exactly how Double Decker connects to Tiger and Bunny since its a sequel project, as this weeks episode the Drug, Anthem, that mutates people into superhuman mutants sounds like the first step to creating the first NEXT..... but the Robot Girl is more advanced than the one in T&B. That or the racist scientist in T&B was really shitty at making Robots.

I just finished watching Goblin Slayer episode 8 this evening. I am really liking this show so far. It has flaws but ,in my opinion they don't really detract all that much from the series.

And next on the list of stuff I'm dropping is Bloom Into You. It's not bad, don't get me wrong, it's perfectly serviceable. The characters are interesting to watch, but at the end of the day, the episodes are mostly the same every time, and in a season where almost everything has been pretty good (and where my computer exploded one week in and I have to catch up on everything), binging nine episodes of that in a row gets kinda tiring. Maybe I'll add it to the backburner for a slower season. Who knows.

question: why do we not have a thread on Bloom Into You yet? it's one of the best shows this season and one of the best received yuri manga ever, so it's strange that it doesn't have a dedicated thread

I would be glad to participate in a thread. Just be sure to be clear on whether it's more for manga readers or anime watchers, since if you get a lot of anime watchers the manga readers will have to spoiler tag themselves for a while.

That said, from what I've seen the anime is going shot-for-shot with the manga, at least in terms of the material it's adapting. Can't say if it's skipping any chapters.

It's been fun.

Yeah, it's pretty much a panel-for-panel adaptation. Now we already have a yuri thread, that may be why there was no dedicated page.

This weeks Gridman Akane becomes inhuman as Anti becomes humam, transforming into Grid Knight as a Kaiju with a soul. Whereas the god with the god complex became a monster wearing the skin of a humam due to her ego.

It's not about her ego - at least, not in the way you probably mean it. Girl's finally gone fully suicidal and her mental world is crumbling around her. There's a reason this so was so heavy on the Evangelion references.

Considering she needed everyone to love her and accept her and the moment minor things happen she becomes vindictive and petty says orherwsie. Her own misanthropy is why things have ended up with her the way she has, even before the story started since she's been at this for awhile. Sure she's very clearly lonely, but her toxic behavior was always there. It's now just reaching its natural conclusion because of her inability to accept the reality she made. Even if Gridman wasn't around this was inevitable.

You're looking at this wrong - she's a severely depressed person experiencing Agent Smith's speech about the Matrix, trying to flee from the world and create a fantasy where everyone loves her and all her problems go away, only for it to slowly crumble because she hates herself too much to believe it. It's not 'everyone must love me because I deserve it', it's 'everyone must love me because otherwise I'll remember I am worthless'. The city and the people in it aren't real - they're the scattered parts of her psyche given the faces of people she knows, and she's self-harming super hard.

What's precedent ever done for us?

Yeah i can easily see it being both. Because she's supposed tobe messed up and more Kaiju like inseries means you become an inhuman monster that doesn't care about anyone. Only destroying everything that opposes you.

Ah yes Double Decker allusions to Tiger and Bunny and being the same world seem to be stronger than ever: There's stated to be anothee world which is what the second sun is, Nikal, and the implication is that T&B Sternbild is part of that world.

And this isn't some weird twist by itself. There's the Legend of the Goddess in T&B about how the people of Sternbild embraced wickedness and did not heed the Crab who warned them, leading the Goddess to plunge their land into a realm of darkness for their transgressions. Only in Darkness did they awaken to Justice.

Combined with B's superhumam abilities not coming from Anthem and it seems he might be a Next.

The latest episode of Akanesasu Shoujo is amazing.

It turns out that my hunch about Ero-Yuu's overt lust for Asuka was an indication of regular Yuu's true feelings for Asuka was right on the money, as her own transformation is triggered by an extremely unambiguous Love Confession, followed by a pan out of what could presumably just the two of them touching foreheads but what looks a hell of a lot like a kiss. It also has the other girls completely destroy their world's Clutter's attempt at a Breaking Speech in a surprisingly nice action sequence. Also Mia summons a robot horse that turns into a giant pistol. I'm definitely biased because of my Yuri Genre preferences, but I think that this episode hit all the right notes in how cathartic it is.

EDIT: I've also finally created a work page for this show: The Girl In Twilight, if anybody is interested.

I dunno you guys, but barring a really amazing surprise from either Gridman or Bunny Girl Senpai, I think my favorite anime of the year was all the way back in Winter with A Place Further Than The Universe.

What's you guys' favorite for the year thus far?

Favorite of this year is still Devilman Crybaby from all the back in Winter. Nothing else else I've watched has left near the same impression on me.

Barring excellent adaptations like AOT Season 3, MHA Season 3, Jojo Part 5 or Yagakimi… yeah, Yorimoi is really hard to beat. Megalo Box and Zombieland Saga would come the closest among those I watched, but even those have their weaker parts.

Then there's Pop Team Epic, which is in a league of its own. evil grin

…That reminds me that I still have to finish Fate Extra. I enjoyed that one quite a bit too actually.

Say what you want about the meandering quality but I kind of like Darling In The Franxx tbh. And for favorite, most of the Fall animes that I watch feels pretty solid with the exception of Ulysses Jeanne D'Arc (Which is passable) and Re Rided: Tokigoe No Derrida (Great concept, poor execution).

Oh! And Banana Fish also deserve a special mention for my favorite anime this 2018

I started this season thinking either Zombieland Saga or Bunny Girl Senpai would be good competition for Yorimoi, but Zombieland Saga kinda floundered a bit too much in a few places, and Bunny Girl is really good, but has a different kind of momentum going, I think. Nothing else I watched came anywhere near the experience I had with Yorimoi, particularly in regards to episode 12. It's really weird to have had my favorite anime of the year be one of the first I watched.

Actually, thinking back on it, there's very little this year that even made for competition for the best spot. Megalo Box kinda lost me at the end, same with Revue Starlight and Hanebado last season... Gridman and Bunny Girl Senpai are going strong, but not strong enough... and that's about it, really. Well, I suppose that's a solid top 5 for me this year, then.
