I don't think so at the moment, but it will get a later screening with the English dub.

Well, it's not gonna be released where, so I'll have to wait a little for an alternative while I check the reviews...

I actually did yell kiss him in the theater when Galo was wondering how to save Lio, which earned a few laughs which all then turned into astonishment & some clapping when he actually did kiss him. [lol]

Bravo Trigger, bravo. (Clapping)

I am low-key disappointed Lio isn’t a woman because obviously he & Not-Kamina are gonna have an intense borderline sexual rivalry.

Wow you called the hell out of this.

Anyway, Lucia was the best character. God bless Kari Wahlgren.

Just a question. When will Promare be released worldwide? Just saying?

That was fun, but it’s really intense as a film. It wants to do everything with its visuals and essentially feels like it has two climaxes.

It was also a ton of fun.

Just got back from the subbed premiere. What an absolute joy of a film.

It goes a million miles a minute with no brakes, and is absolutely stuffed with stylistic references, so I imagine it could be very bewildering for people not familiar with Trigger's work.

But my god, the AESTHETIC. The visual elements and overall design, let alone the animation, were well worth seeing on the big screen.

The first part of film was admittedly a bit heavy on the exposition, but I had already watched the Galo and Lio prequel shorts which inform a lot about the characters, and then the stakes get raised and it all flows pretty well. I'd say the film really shines with Galo and Lio's teaming up and playing off each other. It's a classic dynamic and it works perfectly.

Of all the things that got a big reaction out of the audience, the biggest was actually DEUS EX MACHINA. It is just so brazenly, shamelessly, gloriously indulgent. This film in a nutshell.

Kamina saves the world from fire with his big gay firefighter robot and pyrokinetic boyfriend by setting the world (and the whole solar system) on fire.

A very basic Google search suggests the film releases in North America on September 20. As the first result.

Did anyone else have that problem of the music drowning out the dialogue, or was it just my theater?

[up][up]I think it's unlikely, but technically not impossible. I suppose I can see it doing something like other serialized movies.

I think the big issues there would be: 1. Budget, as any new content would have to be equivalent to the film's quality (or better.) And 2. The new content itself, which would either be before or during the film (which again, isn't impossible, as seen with the Galo and Lio prequel shorts), since it ends pretty definitively. An epilogue might be nice.

But the film's full-throttle pacing is part of the style and appeal, and I'm not entirely sold on translating that to serialization. But I'll admit I want to see more of the characters, world, and art style.

Actually, what's least likely but what I'd want most to see most expanded on is The Promare. The concept of an alien species that communicates through burning is a really neat concept, and how the pre-disaster world failed to reckon with that could make from some great sci-fi.

[up]I felt similarly during the opening parts, and was very glad to have subtitles, but didn't notice it later on. Maybe I just got used to? But it's a Sawano score, so no surprise that it's overwhelming.

I've just seen Promare a few hours ago tonight, thanks to a friend of mine who happened to be visiting in the area.

And I must say, I've never seen this much energy of awesomeness since watching nearly the entire marathon of Gurren Lagann Season 1 and 2.

Galo is pretty much Kamina if he was the main character rather than the Decoy Protagonist, Lio reminds me of Gladion from Pokémon and some other characters whose names escape me for the moment, and Gov Kray goes batshit crazy, especially when he reveals himself as a Burnish. He's like evil adult Danny Phantom given Viral's sharp teeth. I don't know if I should hate him, fear him, or find him to be awesome. Maybe it's all three together.

Since it came to the UK, I finally got a chance to watch this and like shit I feel bad for Fire Force because it's really unfair to compare the two but. There are pros and cons to the approach both stories took and I do think Fire Force ultimately has the better aesthetic overall.

I finally understand the Galo/Lio ship that everyone's been raving about because yeah and someone in the viewing group I went with even pointed out the the two variant mech names Galo gives to Deus Ex Machina serve as the ship names :p

The theater was packed so I was in the very front. So this is definitely something I want to try picking up on DVD because there were so many details.

The fact that they only went to space for a few minutes instead of spending a climax there and that the protagonists' plan revolved around not going to space was my favorite twist tongue.

My favorite Sawano-ism was when they literally had the lyrics "Oxygen to breath again" timed with Galo kissing Lio to revive the latter.

I really expected there to be another scene where they dealt with the consequences at the end, but oh well. This was a very compact movie, dripping with all of Imaishi and Sawano's excess for all the good and ill that implies.
