Giving this a bump since some threads have been coming in lately. I've temp-locked the ones that I've seen; when crowners come back online, I'll unlock them and move them back for discussion.
Is it okay to start a thread for an image that was changed without discusion?
Join the Five-Man Band cleanup project!Go ahead and make it; I'm temp-locking new threads instead of removing them outright. If it's a case of a simple reversion, then it can be processed immediately, if it might lead to discussion about a new pic then it can sit in the morgue for a while.
Years ago, when crowners were broken, we used roll-calls in their place. That is, we added a crowner like questionnaire in the first post of the thread, switched the header post on, announced this pseudo-crowner in-thread with a "mod mode" post and requested that people "vote" in their posts with thumbs-up and thumbs-down which were then listed by a moderator in the first post. Perhaps we should do so again?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI'd actually forgotten about that...not a bad idea to try it again.
Yes, we should do that. It doesn't look like crowners will be available any time soon.
I'll see what I can do about getting some of those set up this week.
Crowners work, they just can't be attached right?
I think crowners can be created, but once they're hooked the control buttons don't work, so you can't add options or see the options in crowners that were hooked on threads pre-1.8.
Why not simply link to crowners in OP. I find this poll thing confusing.

That actually may be easier to do...I'll see about doing that, but it may be later on into the weekend before I can dedicate time to it, got a lot going on ATM.
I'll be on a work trip next month that'll leave me with a lot of down time in the evenings, so I'll be able to keep a closer eye on things and police threads better.
You are also not able to change your vote. Tough times.
Polls would be much easier to do if we still had post numbers listed.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? Can't you just like, use a site like Strawpoll or something?
Jawbreakers on sale for 99ยขI have no idea how to use that, and looking at the sample that's on the page, I'm not sure if it will work for our purposes.
We'd need a third party hosting site that has upvotes and downvotes.
Post numbers can still be seen by hovering over the post. Let's not make this overly complicated.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSorry, I didn't know. I tend to use the site from my phone so I can't exactly hover over text.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Since we've just about got all the old threads knocked out (the ones that are left really need more discussion as they would be very reliant on crowners and those still aren't an option), I'm going to start bringing in the requests that were locked post-site update, in small batches.
While these threads are coming back, please hold off on new requests unless it's a serious fix that needs to happen, as there are a lot of locked requests that need to be processed.

What's the status on this?
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Would like to know as well.
Well, the initial batch of threads that I moved back into the forum stalled out for the most part. I'm probably going to start clocking some of them soon, and moving more of the temp-locked threads in for discussion as older threads are cleared out. There's not a huge backlog of such threads, and several of them I'm pretty sure can be knocked out fairly quickly, so hopefully things will be back on track within the next month.
I've also been told that crowners are very close to being fully functional again, so that will help a lot. Part of the reason I've let some threads hang on for so long is that they really need crowners to come to a good resolution.

I've got a fair number of threads I would like to make. Should I wait on those, or create them and have you temp-lock them?
Due to the massive amount of bugs created by the new site overhaul, several of which directly impact the function of the workshop forums, please do not start any new IP threads until further notice.
Thank you...hopefully this will end sooner rather than later.
