ScreenCrush has a pretty good Easter Egg video:

A lot of stuff that I missed, including the very first lines of the movie: "You see where you're going? Now let's worry about how you get there." Something which sums up not just the MCU, but also Endgame itself.

Saw the movie. This is a spoiler thread so it's kind of pointless to use spoiler tags.

I loved when Thanos outsmarts Carol. I was expecting her to overpower him but that hints that Carol doesn't really think much when fighting because she can just steamroll everything without much effort. So when she is against someone who can keep up with her and has the ability to play around her powers, she is hopeless. Hopefully in a future movie, Carol's rashness is brought up as a flaw against someone with equal power and superior combat skill.

Because i have been watching Mortal Kombat 11's story, which deals with time travel, it kinda reminded me that when Nebula kills herself she was fine. Because in MK if the past self dies so does the present one.

And lastly, what a poetic way for Tony and Thanos to go.

I wouldn't say she's "hopeless". Even Thanos using all his cunning is always only able to repel her temporarily.

Yeah, maybe hopeless wasn't the right word. Maybe she would be at a disadvantage. An opponent with an equal powerset (it's a bit played out at this point but bear with me) or even stronger than her would make Carol realize that the power she gained made her reckless and reconsider how she goes about things.

Of course, reckless Carol is fun and i'm maybe overthinking this. You can also picture the scene as making Carol not OP. But if being reckless and rash is brought up later as a flaw for Carol's character, it would be interesting to see how they explore it.

Or maybe i'm just rambling. I have some Endgame withdrawal tonguetonguetongue

I can see Carol as being overconfident because of her powers and losing some battles due to being outwitted. Similar to, say, Superman, whose main enemy is Lex Luthor.

I feel like it was less reckless and more she was outmaneuvered. I feel like it's really easy to label strong characters like Carol as 'reckless' or 'impulsive' and I kind of thought that was one of the subtextual dialogues that her film was commenting on. "You're too reckless. You need to hold back. You need to calm down. You're too emotional." only for her to retort "No, those are my strengths, but they're your weaknesses." That's what I got from it at least.

Kind of like why I liked Gamora in Infinity War so much. You see her vulnerability a lot and have some excellent character moments and she takes control and makes her own plans, and she still has agency in most of what she does, she's just outplayed just like everyone else is. While it would have been easy to try and just make Gamora the damsel and cut to Thanos throwing her off a cliff, up until the end she's still fighting him in every way she can.

And that's what I also felt made her a strong character, even when hostage to other characters. She's never not planning or trying to think her way out of whatever situation she's in. The damsel assumes the position and does nothing. The strong character tries everything they can, even if they will fail.

Admitedly, there's ALWAYS a line to these things dependent on what the rest of the story is and tone and etc, but I truly think Gamora was one of the best developed characters here.

Carol was outmanoeuvred: Thanos had to rip the Powerstone out of the temp gauntlet and bare hand it in order to get her off his case. That's an incredibly risky move, then again, he must have suspected he could take that risk with one stone since he knows for a fact it took all the stones together to cripple him.

So I could see her getting a bit complacent. When the baddest dude in the universe headbutts you and all you give him is an angry glare, it's hard not to believe you're a BAMF.

Carol: Fury, get me my wallet.

Fury: Which one is yours?

Carol: It's the one that says Bad Ass Motherfucker on it.

Carol is basically female Asura to me based on her character arc, which is very cool.

By the way, I can't believe they actually gave her the short hair from the comics.

The only Earth-based character that can match Carol in sheer power, if not surpass her outright, is The Sentry, if he's ever adapted.

Worldbreaker Hulk doesn't look like it's gonna show up anytime soon, Stormbreaker Thor is currently, ummm, not at his best, and Black Bolt doesn't exist.

Wanda might defeat Carol thanks to the nature of their respective powersets, but you'd need an incredibly contrived reason for those two come to blows, so that's out.

[up]I couldn't be happier about that.

.. what? I like women with short hair, I think it looks great.

Wanda does have Carol beat when it comes to Badass Boast though:

[up]I unfortunately missed that.

Barely slept last night. Got up at 6:50 to be ready for the 8 am showing. Upset stomach the entire film. I only got up out of my seat twice though so I didn't feel terrible about it?

Ouch.

And here I thought getting a corner seat and leaving the movie with a sore neck was bad.

I still cried three times.

Once for Peggy 70s cameo and James D'arcy that I wasn't emotionally ready for. Another for Tony. And the last for Peggy's last dance, which... I don't think was earned and ultimately wasn't what Cap's story should have been, but god if I didn't cry so hard.

Third GOTG movie will a hunt for Gamora with Adam on the Guardian's tail. Fat Thor is there.

There'll be a Valkyrie movie, heavens knows what it'll be about but Tessa Thompson is worth every goddamn ticket.

Next Ant-Man will involve Stature in some manner.

Sam will be the next Captain America, possibly with Bucky as his partner/sidekick.

Pepper might show up again as Rescue. Unlikely, but not impossible. Maybe they can adapt Ironheart through her.

That's all that comes to mind thus far.

Are we sure Adam Warlock isn't his own solo movie? Like the LGBT Marvel Movie supposedly being made?

Well, the Ten Rings and the Mandarin technically are still about, as are the renmants of HYDRA with the Yellowjacket Pym Particle.

There's Adam, and with James Gunn thankfully back in the saddke that'll be picked up.

Zemo is still alive, the Abomination is frozen over somewhere, and the Scorpion seems to be picking up Secret Six members to kill Peter.

There's the Kree Empire, heavens knows what shape they're in.

Hela might still be alive, for all we know.

That's all I can think about for now.

[up]The teaser in GOTG Vol 2 doesn't leave a whole lotta options for him other than that.

LGBT movie is probably The Eternals: Herc is there and he is a confirmed bisexual.

So, where do we go from here? Outside of Far From Home.
Well, there's a number of different ways to go:
  • They can go weirder. (This is why I assume they are doing The Eternals — it's pure Jack Kirby space gods and there's really nothing else like it in the MCU as of yet.)
  • They can go smaller or do different genres. (They can keep doing smaller-style movies in different genres, a la Ant-Man as a heist film; this is also why I assume they are doing Black Widow and Shang-Chi - one's going to be a spy thriller and the other a martial arts movie.)
  • They can use sequels to explore other parts of the Marvel universe. (The director of Doctor Strange has stated that he wants the sequel to include Nightmare, which would be interesting, since he controls the realm of dreams. And there are many, many other places to explore in the Marvel universe — for instance, the Black Panther sequel could introduce Atlantis and Namor and the Captain Marvel sequel could introduce the Brood and other alien races alongside the Kree and Skrulls.)
  • They can make non-Avengers team-ups. (This would be really interesting and fun — instead of having an annual Avengers movie, have a team-up between characters that wouldn't otherwise interact, like Captain Marvel and Black Panther or Doctor Strange and the Hulk. This could be where an A-Force movie comes in or, after the two years are up, a team-up film between Daredevil and Spider-Man.)
  • They can make a New Avengers film. (It would be a different team line-up — perhaps with the Falcon & Winter Soldier show leading up to it.)
  • They can make a FF or X-Men film. (Of course.)

Regarding the female team-up scene...first I was "too little, too late" ESPECIALLY after what they did to Black Widow in this movie, but then people were complaining about how forced it was and I was all "why? There are multiple scenes in the movie in which overwhelming male character team ups take a heroic stance of work together, so why do we even NOTICE when they are all female? And that made me like the scene because we really need to normalize this shit! hopefully in ten years we won't even blink an eye or make some sort of gender count.

I liked the all women team up. It didn't feel forced and there was no eye-contact or head nod like a wink-wink-nudge to the audience. It just... happened. And it was badass.
