"Hopefully I don't get a cold along with all that." Kiri was trying to be humorous, though it could seem like a rather biting reply compared to Amanda Abigail's friendly politeness. But Sedura's streets, though well-ordered they were under the watchful eyes of Lady Madina, had made him a little rough around the edges socially even before the scales began to appear on his body.

Duelling Club - Arena

Gaston let out a laugh, smirking at Nala not unkindly.

"You have a shield. I trust Merc enough to know that nothing I do will even touch you."

Sure enough, the staff flew, impacting on the arrow fired at it and veering off course....before promptly course correcting and nailing Nala anyway.

The shield around her glowed purple and one of the three shimmering orbs beside her vanished.

Gaston smirked again...before an arrow flew right into his face, this time stopped only by Mercurius's shields, that orb flickering off.

Gaston looked gobsmacked.

Eris laughed from the sidelines.

"YOU GOT COCKY, TONY~!" she yelled.

The day seemed to pass by rather quickly for the new students of Màna. They settled in, unpacked, and savored their last bits of free time before classes started. Speaking of....

Eura was tired. She had spent the rest of the day unpacking and she had immediately regretted bringing so many bags.

She had also insisted on cooking dinner for her dorm tonight, which they had just finished a short while ago.

Now the blonde was at the dorm living room, writing on her diary. Finally, some rest...

And then there was a loud ringing noise in her ears - the dorm's magical alarm alerting the students that a teacher was at the door.

Scrambling to her feet, Eura marched over to the door and opened it...revealing the same bespectacled man who had captured the monkey familiar from earlier.

He nodded in greeting to Eura and then walked right into the living room, waiting for the other students to head down.

Dorm Beatrix

The same alarm could be heard by everyone from the dorm, as two figures walked towards the door.

One was the young Divination Teacher, Geshem, and the other was a tall human youth.

As they reached the door, Geshem turned to speak to her companion.

"Your name is Aillig, right? Well, here is where you'll be sleeping. Brother says it's callex Dorm Beatrix, but I think it's weird that the building has a person's name, right? Oh, well. You're a diviner, so I'll be your teacher, I'm kind of nervous..."

The young woman continued to talk as she knocked on the door once before opening it and striding right in.

Dorm Theo

And here too, in the now smoke free dorm, the alarm rang.

Again, two figures were walking towards the entry way.

The first was Claudio Frost, the half-orc professor.

The other was a peculiar looking young woman, dressed in robes and cloak of pure white, hood up and an odd porcelain mask covering her lower face.

Beneath the hood, the only thing that could be seen were eyes of that were a particular shade of grey, seeminly glowing in the dark.

She followed the teacher silently.

Nothing is what it seems. Master of Shipping and Sadism.

Dorm Theo: Claudio

Claudio appeared at the Transmutation College dorm, waiting for a student to open the door downstairs before he walked into the dorm, now wearing a green robe with the symbol of the Enchantment College, he looked at the girl besides him, than to the rest of the students who made their way downstairs, the teacher's radiant smile showed itself in the room, like am angel's holy light, his handsome face only enhancing it even further than divinity, although he wasn't all professional, he was certainly captivating, he put his palm to his chest and spoke.

"It's good to meet you all, my name is Claudio Frost, I'll be your Enchantment teacher during your stay in Mana, I hope despite the difficult times ahead for you as students that you'll have a great time during your school year" Frost moved slightly to the side, giving the girl with him the spotlight and a direct line of sight to the rest of the students, as he looked at her he spoke calmly.

"Come now, no need to be shy, introduce yourself to your dormmates!"

Mireena's Tower: Dia

Maxwell was no stranger to writing reports, being as experimental as she is it's one of her fortes and she even made a shorter version in case Seth would say something about her paper being longer than it should be

As everyone went to sleep after unpacking their things, Machina had one last job to finish for the day, to actually give the paper to its requester, searching around the girl eventually landed in the Tower of the principle and walked the long way upstairs, deep into the top of Mireena's tower, was carrying a binder with several pieces of parchments inside placed neatly in order and ready to be given.

With smug excitement hidden under a calm face Dia knocked on the door.

"Excuse me? Is Headmaster Septem here? I'm searching for him to give him a report he asked me to do"

Dorm Alice

Kendrix was just about to get an early rest when the bell rang and roused her seconds after she closed her eyes. She and Thurston grumbled in unison and swung up and back into a stand. She did in fact just sleep in a white sleeveless gown, but small loops and catches let her still slip her sword and cape on as she headed down. Thurston waddled after her, croaking and rubbing his eyes, then took his old spot once again on the shelf to eye the professor. Kendrix saluted and then stood at ease near the bottom of the staircase.

"Good evening, Professor." She said. "What brings you to the dorm?"

Before: Duel

Alright, so that’s not a valid way of knocking that staff away, Nyxus thought to himself as things played out. Good to know.

Still, he managed to knock down one of Gaston’s shields (even if it wasn’t the place he intended to hit – the spell on his opponent’s arm was still up), and still hadn’t been hit yet. That was pretty decent for his first time dueling someone in a while.

Let’s not drop our guard just yet, though, he thought to himself, pulling out another arrow and moving quickly as he figured out what to do next. He wasn’t going to shoot him in the same spot as before, that would be just asking for Gaston to wisen up. Besides, he hoped Nala would get a chance to duel Gaston as well.

Before: Conversations in Dorm Beatrix

“Ah,” Nyxus responded. “That’s… unfortunate. I hope things get better for you soon.” To be frank, the elf wasn’t sure what to say. He didn’t want to pry into things and come off as nosy, nor did he think that changing the topic was going to be a good idea either. He’d always been more comfortable doing spells than doing small talk, but he knew that his parents and Mireena would want him to make some friends, and he didn’t want them to worry about him again.

Damn it, this is small talk, it's not a matter of life or death. Stop worrying.

Fortunately, Harry’s comments meant a more… approachable, thing to talk about. “Thanks for the offer,” Nyxus responded, “but I think I’m good. All I have to do now is to finish putting everything away…”

Now: Dorms

Nyxus, thankfully, had been awake when the alarms set off. Barely, though — he had been just dozing off in the middle of reading through one of his book when the alarm jolted him awake.

“What the hell?!?” he yelled, somewhat surprised by the noise. Putting the book aside, he headed downstairs, wanting to figure out what was going on.

Duel

Nala flinched as the staff impacted. "Seriously, uncalled for!"

Jerry, taking advantage of the distraction swooped down from his perch, aiming to claw the back of Gaston's head.

Dorms Alice

Nala sat up and blinked blearily at the noise, sitting up and grabbing a robe to pull over her doe-skin shift as she ambled downstairs.

"But early innit?" She asked, working hard to keep her eyes open and stifling a yawn.

-dramatic music ensues-

Dorm Alice

There was a loud thump from upstairs, and a rapid scurrying and crashing as the alarm rang out, before a cat bolted down the stairs. It shifted into a dark skinned beastkin with a very annoyed look on his face. "Aight. Who. In. The Godsforsaken. Hells. Decided to interrupt my beauty sleep. WITH A LOUD RINGING RIGHT IN MY SENSITIVE EARS!?"

Dorm Beatrix

Though he had been awake for a few hours already, Cormac had been reading his journal in an attempt to make the most of his time without disturbing any of his fellow students, when the alarm rang out throughout the dormitory. Jolted from his rather peaceful state, Cormac snapped his journal shut and rose to his feet, grabbing his cloak and throwing it over his shoulders as he left his room and headed downstairs.

Spotting the new arrivals, Cormac called out "Well met friends, is there anythin' I can do tae help you?"

Màna Inner Rim, Dormitory Beatrix, Past the 14th Hour

"The offer stands, if you need anything," Harry said brightly. "I'm always happy to help."

He turned to Agnes. "I'm looking forward to class, ma'am. Sure as Mireena's scales're the prettiest blue, I'm in for something else."

Màna Inner Rim, Dormitory Beatrix, Room 403 Past the 21st Hour

As the alarm rang all across the school, Harry was scrambling from his bed and to his feet. Throwing on his robe, he was sprinting down after Cormac and smoothing his appearance out at the same time.

He wanted to get an early start at the day, but instead he found himself hurrying down to the entrance. Thankfully, his shaggy roommate took it upon himself to greet the newcomers. One of whom looked to be a student.

Dorm Beatrix: New Arrival

"Dinnae sound all tha' weird." Aillig replied to Geshem, scratching the back of his head with a free hand as he spoke. "Folks back 'ome name armor 'n weapons all th' time, so I dun think buildin's are any differen'." He continued with a nod as they walked to the front door.

As they entered, he closed a free hand around one ear and turned his head to speak to Geshem once more. "What's up wit' th' racket this late in th' evenin'? This normal??"" He asked, wincing lightly before he heard and saw the others coming to greet them. "Allo there, friends, name's Aillig, I'm new 'ere!" He grinned as he greeted them, trying to be as friendly as he could. "If'n ye'd like t' 'elp, ye could gimme a 'and in movin' my stuff up!"

Dorm Theo

Ren decided to follow after the two figures after the alarm rang, while the orc was certainly an imposing sight, and seeing him jog before this was defiantly.... something... the fellow hooded figure was the one that caught more of her attention. What was she? Why was she covering herself, Ren was kind of curious if she was nervous about who she was as well.

Seeing that her teacher was approaching the door rapidly however, she decided to get the door for him, hoping to use this new angle to get a better look at both of there faces.

Standing beside the teacher was a tall tiefling, with big, curving red horns growing from his forehead, obscuring parts of his slicked-back wavy mane of jet-black hair, aside from wearing the academy's black cape he seemed more comfortable wearing his armor and green scarves than any actual uniform, his eyes were a piercing, pale green-ish blue hue, heavily contrasting with the hot maroon-color of his skin.◊

The man sighed, his eyebrows low along with his eyes half closed, his face was showing discontent clearly, tapping with his left hand on his hip.

"Professor fucked your sleep Fluffy-ears, he was forced to show me the way here for some reason" The Tiefling groaned and spat on the floor before trying to find a decent place to sit down. He was mumbling not as quiet as a whisper yet not loud enough for those far from him to hear.

"Bet those damn bastards think I'm a dumbass"

Flashback: Dorm Alice, Amanda & Kiri

Amy tilted her head to the side, nodding and smiling.

"I'm certain that Mireena will never let that happen to you Kiri"

She then stared at her notebook for a few seconds before her head jerked up quickly, her eyes wide open for a second as if she just realized something.

"Hey, you have any experience with Alchemy by any chance?"

Flashback:Dorm Beatrix, Agnes Nyxus and Harry

Agnes chuckled slightly at Nyxus, nodded her head from left to right, smiling softly as she spoke.

"It's sweet of you to worry about me but I'll be fine Nyxus, I've gotten quite good at juggling those things by now"

Euthalia nodded at Harry, politely bowing to both.

"Tell you what, if you wanna see me for any help you need come to the Magical Crafting clubroom, it's down at the shopping district actually, just look for Violet's Enchanted Inventory, that's where I tend to be after school. Check the club out during the club faire too I'm the vice pres, I'll give you both good hospitality there!"

Nala blinked more sleep from her eyes and cinched her robe tighter, cooncealing some green whorls on her skin that her clothes normally kept covered. She descended the stairs a bit more and offered a hand and a kind smile to the tiefling. "So I'm assuming you're a late arrival? My name is Nala. Would you like some coffee? I suspect I'm going to need some myself after our surprise wake up call."

The gaunt, strange form of Medaglia emerged from the doors. He seemed to be the exact same as the previous day. Stiffly, officially, he bowed. "I am honored, sir. I have heard your accomplishments in the field of Enchantment to be grand." The falcon said, slowly straightening back to a normal standing position. The woman by his side was an alleged dormmate.

"I trust there is no reason as to why our new classmate is masked other than her personal withdrawn being?" He asked after a moment, his visor slowly moving over to look at her in more detail.

DORM ALICE

Temple was not awakened by the alarm, having spent the night before trying to get Tom to explain which was a part of the old country superstition and what wasn't.

So, with dark bags under his eye Temple stumbled over to beside his room mate holding the shovel with Ol' Tom in one hand and his ears in the other. "Seven!" He grumbled, "what's that racke-Oh!" He looked up at the two, then at the Tiefling and then stared at his horns. He'd seen Tieflings, but they all looked...strange...

The topless part of the jog HAD to be on purpose. There was no way otherwise. Taking a deep breath to activate her chill out and keep it cool trigger around incredibly hazardous visuals for a normal and stable young woman's hormonal balance, the pink haired Enchanter merely presented an utterly under control smile in a fair pleasant tone "Like most things things in this world, it has its good and bad sides... though as far as installations go, though I haven't been able to see the inside I must admit it looks quite well, Professor"

Gabrielle - Dorm Theo - Later Inside

As the seemingly special and mysterious new student was introduced to the dorm right after Gabrielle finally dared venture inside after repeated reassurances that not a trace of ill scents remained, Gabrielle studied the masked figure's body language in an attempt to read her intentions "Hardly... if it was just a withdrawn nature that necessitated such concealment, then surely a Professor well versed in interpersonal relationships would not place her straight up in the spotlight"

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.

Duelling Club - Arena

Gastonn cursed at himself, then muttered a few hurried words, not even bothering to respond to Nala's complaining.

As Jerry went down towards him, a bolt of blue energy shot out of his hand to try and intercept the familiar.

Eura stood there awkwardly as her dorm descended into the living room, the teacher standing there calmly and greeting each student with a bored "Good evening."

He did frown a bit at Asher's entrance and gave a nod of acknowledgement at Kendrix.

As the student who arrived with him spoke, the man sighed and adjusted his glasses.

"Try not to be so crude, I know it's hard for you, but you have to be civilized now. And as I have repeatedly said, those were orders from the Songstress. Trust me, student, if it were up to me, I would have sent you off alone."

His voice never rose above a bored monotone.

"Right, to business. I am Andreas Valir, your teacher for Evocation. I am here, as you may have guessed, to escort your new dormmate, who arrived late and made trouble for all of us. However, I am also here to deliver your class Schedules, effective the day after tomorrow."

He snapped his fingers and sheets of paper appeared in each student's hands.

Andreas glanced around the room, confirming if all of the first years were there, before rounding on Eura.

"Honestly, Euranasia, you literally live in this city half the time and yet you insist in staying at the dorm?"

"I...wanted the experience, Andy...." Eura replied, averting her gaze.

Geshem smiled as Aillig replied, walking into the dorm and waving at the students who were arriving.

"Well, yes, my brothers and sisters named things all the time but, I mean, you're naming a building after a person? What if that like, called their ghost and now your house is haunted? Oh, but if the ghost was friendly, then it might be really nice...."

She paused thoughtfully before continuing.

"Oh, and the noise is just the alarm for when a teacher enters the dorm. But that's weird too, cause it just gives the students time to hide their contraband stuff..."

She smiled as Cormac and Harry made their entrance.

"Oh, hi! I'm Geshem Mishamayim, I'm a teacher. Sorry for intruding, you were probably sleeping and I know people get cranky when you wake them up...Oh! Anyway, I'm just escorting your dormie here...Is that the right expression? Dormie? Well, in any case, his name is Aillig, I'll let him introduce himself..."

Another pause.

"Oh, and I have your schedules too!"

She snapped her fingers and the papers appeared.

And at that moment, she saw Nyxus...and there was a brief flicker of something in her expression before she went back to smiling.

The masked girl tensed as Claudio shoved her right into the spotlight, gray eyes darting back and forth as if she was looking for an escape.

A long awkward moment passed before she let out a resigned sigh.

"Professor, I wanted to lay low...until at least I was in a room..." she complained. Her voice was low and tinged with an unfamiliar, rough accent.

Glancing at Medaglia, she spoke. "Half-right. I don't like talking to people if I can help it..."

Another sigh.

She looked at Gabrielle and Ren.

"Don't stare at me, please, it's rude."

She adjusted her hood and mask, a bit nervously. The eyes were still the only facial feature visible.

"My name is Janelle Aenys, College of Illusion. I will be staying here from now on..."

Dia would have been sent to the Tower's 12th floor, to the faculty room. It seemed that Seth was talking to the teachers under his department.

The faculty room itself was a long rectangular, carpeted hall with no windows, with multiple desks, bookshelves, and an enchanted coffee pot that never ran out in one corner.

Dia could see the surly headmaster talking to Professor Yorrick, the yellow dragonborn, right next to the coffee pot.

Mireena's Tower: Dia and Seth

Dia frowned as she explored around the tower more, it was such an annoyingly big place, stupid wizard love for giant-ass towers is stupid, after a while she finally, smiled as she found the faculty room and more importantly, Septem. The boxer girl grinned widely for just one second, in a flash returning to a calm demeanor before she spoke out loud, formally, almost like a professional.

"Excuse me Headmaster Seth? It's Machina" Maxwell stepped closer towards the duo once she grabbed their attention, bringing her two versions of the assignment forward for Seth to see. "If I can please bother you for a moment, I finished the assignment you gave me today, even made both a short and lengthier, more nuanced and detailed version of the report on academy rules. So I thought I should give both to you already even though it's late"

Flashback: Dorm Theo, Concett, Claudio and Gabrielle

Claudio scratched his left cheek lightly as he sighed while smiling "When you left my office in a hurry you looked like you wanted to get into your room as fast as possible... So what did those Theo rascals do this time?" He nodded his head in dissaproval from left to right, though he certainly didn't seem surprised.

"Well whatever they did, believe me when I say it could be worse, dorm Joash for one... Well, let's say putting numerous Evokers together in one building is a recipe for disaster. Here you only have pranks some times"

Suddenly, Concettina bumped into his chest, barely pushing him a pace backwards, he blinked rapidly, confused for a second before looking at her with a soft expression as he brought his hand towards her to help her up from the ground.

"Are you alright miss?"

Dorm Theo: Current Times With Claudio And The Gang

Claudio rubbed the back of his neck with his right hand, flustered from Meda's comment he smiled as he stared at the ground. "Oh please, my accomplishments are not the stuff of legend you know, in fact they were done here" Frost brought his head up, sighing and looking at Elle, the teacher spoke in a soft, encouraging voice.

"Well, the mask is her choice and I won't stop her from it, however making her introduce herself like this was my conscious decision " The half-orc looked to Aeny's eyes, his own eyes showing a hint of worry. "Take it from an adult, shy or outgoing, you're gonna be living with these people for the next 4 years of your life, the way to deal with it is to break down these kinds barriers as fast as possible, and that'll only make things easier for you, and your time here more comfortable and believe me, I was a student here just like you once"

Frost took a deep breath, nodding to her before looking to the rest of the dormmates, he snapped his finger and in each of their hands a weekly school schedule appeared.

"Almost forgot to give you these. Class schedules for you all, I'm your last class for the day but you guys better still have energy then you hear?" The teacher expressed a wide grin, as he took a count of their number quickly before speaking with confusion.

"I was told there would be one more student here" Claudio snapped his finger once again and a schedule appeared in his hand.

"Can one of you please give the missing student their schedule?"

Erin had been trying and failing to sleep when the alarm went off. She was a bit late to arrive to the front and picked up her schedule.

"Heh, so, there's a new person. Hi, I'm Erin."

Kendrix twisted herself down into a kneel in front of the Tiefling and with that same momentum grabbed her cape as it whipped around her to wipe up his spit off the floor. "Shameful. Respect the space my great lady Mireena has given us all." She whipped her head up to the professor, Andreas, and flattened her ears with a squint. "I'm similarly a little dim on someone implying the dorms are less than city living, Professor."

Dorms: In which my overthinking head probably throws a monkey wrench into the GM's plans. Or not. I tend to worry a lot.

...So it was just a new student, and the assignment of schedules. Nyxus sighed in relief as a piece of paper landed in his hands — with the loud alarm, he had been concerned that something bad was happening. Besides, he had been wondering why his room was missing a person.

His moment of relief would quickly dissipate, though, as he realized that something wasn't right. The paper felt quite thin — not much of an issue to most, but considering that most of the papers he had been given until now had to be written in slide-runes and as such needed thicker paper to maintain the embossed symbols, Nyxus could already feel a sinking feeling in his stomach. A quick check of the page, unfortunately, confirmed his suspicions — the schedule wasn't written with slide-runes. He couldn't read it.

Nyxus forced himself to breathe steadily in an attempt to avoid panic. There were only two explanations for this: either this teacher forgot to print it in the correct format, or she gave his copy to the wrong person. Either way, he needed to talk to the teacher about the matter right away, as while he could assume that he would be sharing at least some classes with the others in the dorms, if he was wrong, the best case scenario would be him giving a poor impression to his teachers.

"...Miss Mishamayim?" he finally asked. "I think you gave me the wrong copy. I can't read this."

Sorry Grim, but you only had her notice Nyxus after she magically summoned the papers, that's just ''asking' for her to have given him the wrong copy.

A Mesite. Harry felt his face freeze slightly. Just trying to go over the accent required some form of language degree. But at the end of the day, they tended to keep to themselves and made for good neighbors. So he felt his face return to its natural cheerful state as the chatty professor handed everyone their schedules.

When the students were gathered in Dorm Alice to receive their schedules, Kiri stood at the side of the crowd of students as he looked on. He gave a suspecting stare at the tiefling when he passed by to the couch, but his attention was back on Professor (or should he say Lord?) Valir and his dialogue with Eura.

Aillig gave the biggest, friendliest grin he could manage as he slapped his chest. "Allo there! Pleas'r' t' meet y'all!" He crowed as he pulled the closest ones into a large hug, his muscular arms gripping them to him tightly. "Feelin' like we're all gonna be good friends~" He chimed as he released them, making sure to give Harry a swift slap on the back. "Ye dinnae mind? Aye, might' fine o' ye, jes' need 'elp settin' up my craftin' stuff so's I ken get t' w'rk lat'r." He said with that same wide grin.

"Isn't it late? Shouldn't we be getting back to bed? It's classes tomorrow."

Erin wished she could say she was tired, but she really wasn't. She had always worked to a nocturnal schedule and the sudden change had left her jetlagged. In the daytime, she felt like sleeping. At night, she felt more awake. She felt like she was beginning to adjust though. She looked over at Nyxus and saw he was running his finger over his schedule, saying he had the wrong one. Was he blind? The thought had never occurred to her before. She decided not to ask about it.
