I can see what they are trying to say. Many romance in media over the ages has shown many very toxic, abusive relationships and idealized them to a scary degree. Two to three decades ago it was very common to see this with the bad boy and wounded man archetypes in most media.

While I don't think fanfics themselves are the problem they are representative of a greater issue that many branches of media idealize relationships that in reality would be toxic and or abusive. Serial killers and murderers getting lumped into this is sadly very common and has been going on for over a century it seems.

It's a very messy topic though.

Also, I was abused for years. I didn't do anything about it for that long. Why? Because I didn't know any better. Why not? Because the media failed in its duty to teach me.

Still, fanfiction is not official media and should be ignored if you find that stuff sensitive.

Only a few minority of people will read fanfics, an even smler one would read fics passionately and a very minor part of said minorities will take abusive ships to heart.

Fanfiction and fanart isn't mainstream media that can influence the majority of the population.

Tackle the real problem, don't use your past as an excuse to be a dick to fans shipping stuff

While I understand what you mean, and I don't mean to minimize your experiences... it's not the responsibility of authors to educate anyone about anything (and I'm speaking entirely about authors of narrative fiction here). Media absolutely does have a problem with romanticizing unhealthy dynamics, including sexist and abusive tropes, particularly in works aimed at young adults (and even younger). But that doesn't mean that every author should be required to denounce every instance of a possibly unhealthy dynamic. Media produced for younger teens or children is one thing, yes, but media intended to be consumed by adults should be allowed to assume a basic level of critical thinking from the audience - which I don't mean as an insult. It's especially muddled when the protagonist(s) is the one engaging in questionable behavior and the narrative presents it as a good thing. But overall, a work shouldn't have to spell out And That's Terrible.

All of this goes double for fanfiction writers, who are unpaid amateurs. Sites like AO 3 have a robust tagging system that I would argue is more than enough due diligence for producing content as a fan. Placing the burden of education and self-curation on fans who are often writing mostly for themselves is wrong.

You can always talk to me if you want Sereg, I have been in abusive relationships too and sadly didn't know any better.

One thing I do disagree with you on though is a high schooler shipping a bad person with someone else doesn't mean the high schooler is a bad person themselves. If anything it's likely that she or he also does not know any better and consumed the same shitty relationship dynamics in media as we have. Otherwise than that I do overall agree with you that general media is pretty dog shit when it comes to romance dynamics.

It's also worth pointing out that some people whom ship abusive characters are likely abuse victims themselves whom are working through their past traumas. I have seen a few of them every now and then in many fandoms, as readers and writers. The sad fact is some of them try to work through that stuff in a safer environment where they do not actually get hurt as that is probably one of the few places they won't get treated badly for it.

As I said before this whole topic can get pretty messy. I personally just avoid any ships with abusive characters in it to avoid the tangling of emotions that comes from those.

Viv has said that she wants Weird Al to voice Lucifer in one of her streams from what I can recall.

Forgot which stream she said this specifically though.

I do recall in the sixth Vivzie Streem though, she does say that Lucifer apparently has a favorite musical instrument that he's learning to play. She doesn't state which instrument it is as it'd give right away who's voicing him. Because of this, many people are thinking it's an accordion, Weird Al's iconic tool of the trade.

It's not officially confirmed yet if Weird Al is going to voice Lucifer. Just that Viv wants him to.

It's pretty much in the same territory as the demon headcanon voices she posted years ago.

I think she also said that she'd want Vox to be voiced by Mark Hamil but I can't remember where she said that.

According to Viv's patreon, all of Helluva Boss's episodes have been written and they're moving to the next stage. Hazbin Hotel is still being pitched.

So she is trying to pitch it to the streamers.

It’s like I mentioned before, I want her to succeed (although personally I think Helluva Boss has a better chance) but the content wars can either be a boon or a bust for her. People want to buy, but that means more people are selling. And if the choice is between some ugly bog standard cartoon like Paradise PD that has a comedian or a Family Guy veteran behind it, or Vivzepop, an unproven commodity without connections in US comedy, I know who would get picked.

According to the post, the Hazbin pitches are going amazing so I'm not too worried.

I thinkit more the fact that Helluva Boss's episodes are shorter and more episodic so they're able to be finished faster.

Apparently Vivienne has been in quarantine for the last few days but she's recovering.

You know, as many mentioned already, Doom Slayer/Doomguy from the DOOM franchise really might fit rather well in this series.

He could even be a part of the hotel staff, as "corrctional officer" or the "human resources."

I mean, wouldn't that be one hell of a motivation for Demons staying in the hotel to behave themselves?

Have him be the silent concierge that scares the shit out of any demon, even Alastor.

Have the only ones that would probably be okie with him be like Charlie and Lucifer. Charlie because she acts nothing like any demon he has seen and Appledaddy because Lucifer probably prefers his rampages over God's bullshit.

Doom Slayer would almost certainly freak out any Demon. After all, he's someone who is actually willing to stay in Hell even though he's not damned in the first place!

Even Charlie would be unnerved. The whole point of the hotel is to help people leave Hell and Doom Slayer aka Doomguy is someone who already can but chooses not to do so.

Does that make sense, though? I mean, if you are the kind of guy who willingly wants to stay in hell, you are probably the kind of guy who should be there in the first place.

If you are depraved enough to want to go to hell, I don't see how you would ever qualify for heaven. Especially this version of heaven.

Well the Doomslayer stays in Hell out of duty....... & a hatred of demons.
